Excellent experience, as always!
Staff very friendly and food presentation excellent
A lovely friendly bubbly Italian lady looked after us throughout our meal.. Our meal was lovely, with the attention to detail being excellent. Thankyou
I was very pleased to see that the menu has guidance on dairy free, etc. This was extremely helpful.
I love this place!. I've been many times with various friends and have recommended it also. I've never been let down. The service is very good, the menu is interesting but not too fussy and not too long or too short. We were served by a lot of different staff which was a pity but they were all very professional and pleasant. I like the idea of having some dishes which can be starters or mains.
We were really pleased with our visit to Howies. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff couldn't have been any more helpful. We were there for our anniversary and enjoyed every minute of our visit. Will definitely be back soon. Well done to all at Howies.
We had booked the 2 courses for £14.95 for my birthday. There was a great selection on the menu and plenty to choose from. There was a fantastic atmosphere with a real 'buzz' in the stunning setting of this beautiful building. The service was great, our server came over to check that everything was ok on each course and we will certainly return again in the future.
Food was excellent and really good value for money. Staff were accommodating but not that friendly
Enjoyed lunch - as always
My birthday lunch was just perfect.
Only criticism is that chicken main course was bland in flavour and a bit dry. A jus would have lifted it. Everything else was excellent.
Excellent. Even with a group of 16 the dinner and drinks were handled with smooth efficiency. Very good food.
A little disappointed
So nice to find a restaurant within easy walking distance of the theatre, in an elegant building reflecting Edinburgh's history. Friendly attentive staff serving good food at a reasonable price. I will certainly make it my first choice of venue on future visits to the city.
Lovely early bird meal - great food and super choices. Server very friendly and helpful. It’s a while since I’d been here but I plan to visit again soon xx
Good food and price
Howies is a restaurant where you know the food will be good. It's the prefect place for excellent Scottish food, well prepared and presented. Nice ambience in the lovely building at Waterloo Place.
As Always Great Good and Great Service very good value for money Highly recommend Bodies Waterloo Place
I was dining with my partner and she ordered the salmon dish from your menu. After taking a couple of mouthfuls she stated to me that it didn’t taste right and that she couldn’t eat anymore. We complained to the waitress who offered and alternative dish. Very quickly after words my partner started to feel unwell and feeling nauseous. We settled our bill which was reduced by the cost of my partners meal as my partner felt she could not eat anything else from your menu and needed fresh air. This was very disappointing and totally spoiled our evening
Superb lunch for all 4 of us--excellent service--our waitress was fantastic--the food quality is top notch and the value great stuff -- the wines on offer are of a very very good quality too -----we have been before and we will return ----with service like this it is without a doubt --one of the finest dining experiences in edinburgh ! Thank You all the staff of Howies
Nice place. Busy but relaxed. Service polite and efficient. Food very good.
great value on price for being in the centre of town... staff were very attentive to our needs... food Fantastic
My friend and I visited Monday 30th April for lunch. I ordered the Cullen skink as a main course. I felt unwell on the Monday evening and started being violently sick early Tuesday morning. My GP had to attend on the Wednesday afternoon as I was so dehydrate and couldn't tolerate any fluids, for which I was prescribed intra muscular stemitil. It has taken me a week to recover and I had to cancel all arrangements and plans for the week. The food I eat at your restaurant was the only food I eat which differed from my husbands!
Really nice place, and great food.
