About Howies Waterloo Place
Housed in a gorgeous Georgian building, Howies Waterloo Place is located at the foot of Calton Hill in the East End of Edinburgh. This place is stunning, a real head turner, where natural light floods the building showcasing original period features and contemporary Scottish style.
Open for lunch, dinner, special events and weddings, Waterloo’s main dining hall seats up to 100 people, but if you’d prefer to keep things strictly private then The Calton Room is great for special events and seats up to 26 people.
Great place and love coming back. Accommodated short notice, asked for table back at specific time, but service was great and we were in and out in plenty time. Great with the kids too
Lovely evening, great food and excellent service.
Service was good throughout meal but we seemed to be forgotten about after desserts came and took a while to get bill when we were in a hurry to return to work.
Really nice restaurant, comfortable and good food.
Been before and good for a crowd. Enjoyed our evening
Amazing as always was one of my places to go but for no particular reason its been a while since I was last there but already planning my next visit in a few weeks
It was just perfect!
I think my dinner at Howies in Waterloo place was the best meal in Edinburgh. Lovely atmosphere, great service and great food. My first Haggis and I loved it. My son 12 enjoyed the experience as much as me.
The portion of the half lobster amounted to only approximately three forkfuls which was disappointing. No claws! The haggis starter was delicious as was my partners rib eye steak main course. Service was excellent as well, just a shame about the lobster.
Never fails to impress. Great staff, imaginative food and value for money. What’s not to like!
Hoies was very busy (Edinburgh Festival) and the restaurant was a bit noisey.Staff were very professional.
Great value for money, staff were exceptional, very attentive. Thanks for giving us another great experience at your restaurant.
As always thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
Great food and good value set price lunch menu. Service a bit slow and less attentive than ideal during busy lunch period
we have been before and enjoyed it and this was no exception. A friendly welcome and excellent service - i think the staff picked up we were on a tight timescale ( Tattoo tickets ) and responded accordingly. Thank you to all at the restaurant for a most enjoyable experience
Everything very good except sevice of food was a bit slow staff and food great
Excellent meal in beautiful surroundings. Staff all very pleasant, helpful and friendly. Prices very reasonable for a city centre restaurant.
Overall excellent. I brought a visitor from overseas as I wanted to show them a authentic Scottish restaurant. It ticket that box in no uncertain terms. The restaurant was very busy, as busy as McDonald's but there the similarities ended. The quality of food was outstanding. I wanted my guest to have a taste of Scotland and our visit did exactly that. We chose the 3 course lunch option and it represented great value for money. I would happily recommend it to visitors who might read this review. But book. You won't be disappointed.
Great location, menu choice at an excellent price. Very tasty food.
Delicious food, excellent service and good value. Been before and will certainly be back
Very good quality food and service, thank you
In Edinburgh for 6 days only and ate here twice as it was all so lovely. Great food, friendly knowledgable staff and good value for money. Highly recommend.
Excellent food and service. Will definitely be back again
Disappointed in the quality of the food. Casserole of day tasteless and roast potatoes advertised were just boiled. Chicken dish chargrilled tasted dry and burnt. Banoffee pie banana was over ripe spoiling the taste. Girl who served was attentive if anything food came too quickly. All in all disappointed. Have been to other howies over the years and always enjoyed meal. Maybe it was too busy with the festival
