Lovely food reasonably priced with excellent service.
17 of us had lunch here after our Treasure Hunt in Edinburgh and we were given a room to ourselves which was great as I had to read out the answers!! The food was excellent and at a very good price too. As for the service, nothing was a problem - checking food allergies, turning the music off and serving each person their order without having to ask who ordered what - we just carried on talking as it was put in front of us!! A bonus, my bust stop just outside. Definitely recommend and we'll be back! Many thanks
First visit very impressed with food and setting.
Very helpful friendly waitress 😀
Visited last night having been in restaurant many times. Two of us ordered catch of the day. Food tasty but : 1) plate had not been warmed 2) food was warmi but not hot 3) good size piece of cod but there were only 4 small slices of potatoes on plate. The other 2 main courses served were very small. The server did ask if everything was good but I did not speak up at this point as it was not appropriate to do so with company present. I had ice cream. On settling bill I spoke to server, very pleasant & attentive lady, sharing the above and admitted she had given me the opportunity earlier to comment on the food and I had not mentioned any issues. It is how I wanted to deal with it at the time. However there is no point in me being left unsatisfied without sharing this with you. Should add this is the first time I have been disappointed and the first tine I have left a restaurant needing more! Only gave 3* for atmosphere because it was a bit noisy but that is down to customers & not a management issue.
I was very impressed overall with the quality of the food and the service. Would definitely recommend and will be back.
Very impressed, only visited because I passed the restaurant on the way down from Calton Hill, looked at the menu and immediately book for that evening. Took advantage of the early bird offer which was very good value. Food fabulous, and service provided made it a memorable experience. Will look to visit again when I am back in Edinburgh
I haven't dined at Howie's for many years and I have to say, I think I have missed out! Absolutely beautiful food, an amazing choice on your menu. The staff were very friendly and informative about the specials choices. I will be back soon and would highly recommend friends to dine at your restaurant. I have close friends who are getting married in May and the meal is booked for your Victoria St restaurant, I cant wait ! Thanks for a lovely lunch
As ever 5 stars all round, thank you.
Very good experience. Staff very friendly and efficient.
My friend introduced me to Howies 2weeks ago and I enjoyed it so much I brought my husband along on the 18th Feb. The food is simply delicious with something to suit everyone’s taste and the presentation perfect. The staff are very knowledgable about the food and very attentive without being too obtrusive. Finally the lunchtime price is unbelievably GREAT value.
Excellent meal and very good service from our waiter. We'd definitely meet here again. The on-line booking system was easy to use.
Howies is a very pleasant place to spend time enjoying the company of good friends in a lovely atmosphere. Good food, good wine, good company. Perfect.
It's been a pleasure having dinner at Howies, excellent meal, nice atmosphere and a very professional and attentive waitress.
Central location, excellent service, fantastic food and really good value
Lovely food and excellent friendly service. They were so kind to my 1yr old grandson. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic food in a fantastic setting. Our waiter was incredibly warm and friendly
Very good, friendly service and tasty food, but not as good value for money as usual.
Always a great experience and good value for money. Staff are hard working, pleasant, efficient and the food is scrumptious. Would defo recommend.
Really fantastic food, excellent server who had brilliant knowledge of the dishes and wine. Thoroughly lovely dining experience
Overall, we enjoyed our 2 course meals. However, the Cullen Skink soup was dominated with potato pieces - far too many. The soup liquid was a bit on the watery side - needed more cream to give it a richer taste. And a tad more pieces of haddock would have helped!. The other dishes (casserole of the day and chargrilled chicken) were excellent.
We were there during a very busy lunch service so service was understandably a bit slow. It is also quite noisy because of the design. Food was excellent and great value for money, being able to take your own wine is great. Overall we really enjoyed our lunch.
Lovely evening before going to the theatre - delicious food and wine and I can highly recommend the Rose Hendricks!
Excellent food and excellent staff .....we will be back again
