About Howies Victoria Street
Located in the city’s historic Old Town, Howies Victoria Street is carved out of rock that Edinburgh Castle perches on above. Paired back stone walls, wooden floors and an eclectic mix of Scottish art marry marvellously with the historic surroundings.
Open seven days a week, our chefs celebrate all that is great about Scottish produce. When it comes to our drinks, much research – and plenty tastings – go into the incredible menu which boasts over 20 wines by the glass, a fantastic range of Scottish craft beer as well as whiskies and gins from all over Scotland.
On Victoria Street itself you’ll find some fantastic bars and shops, including Walker Slater, The Whisky Shop and Isle of Skye Candle Co. Look up from Howies and you’ll see our sister restaurant Scotts Kitchen which is open daily from 9am for all day dining and drinks (and the perfect spot for a drink before lunch or dinner at Howies).
Had another great meal in Howies. Can't wait to come back.
Excellent food quick service
Lovely restaurant, we were greeted with a glass of Prosecco, nice touch. I had already decided what I was having for dinner, haggis, tatties & peeps followed by Rib Eye. My wife had the terrine & lamb all washed down with a nice glass of red...Great evening to celebrate our anniversary, will definitely return.
Fantastic lunch and service
Fantastic food and great service. Would definitely visit again
Lovely meal and great service
Beautiful food and our waitress was friendly and made the experience in the restaurant more enjoyable. Great Service from the moment we stepped into the restaurant.
This was my wife's birthday diner. Great service and outstanding food. My wife really enjoyed her salmon and my lamb was amazing.
It was lovely to come back to Howies, and you didn’t disappoint! Delicious food, excellent friendly service and feeling safe but a good atmosphere despite the distancing.
So clean and spacious inside (first time since Covid restrictions) but still keeping a great atmosphere. Staff are so courteous and friendly as always. Loved our French waitress with the short dark hair (sorry didn’t ask her name) - she was delightful! Food and drink beautiful as always, fabulous banoffie pie! Will always regard Howies as one of favourite restaurants in Edinburgh. Always consistent and such good value.
Thank you for making my friend’s birthday a great one! 10/10 service ☺️
We were very impressed with the staff, they were attentive, helpful and friendly, and really seemed keen to provide the best service they could. The food was excellent. Good quality ingredients, prepared well and presented beautifully. Value for money was excellent as well. Couldn't fault the experience at all! Thanks!
Very pleasant dinner. Food was excellent and services was very polite and helpful.
Great social D measures . Very polite and professional waiting staff . Food nice . Gin fizz cocktail a must .
Well Howies you never fail to deliver. First visit to Victoria Street but have had plenty in Aberdeen. Same excellent service, beautiful food and value for money. 5*
Food and service was lovely, haggis neeps and tatties - amazing dish!
Food, drink, atmosphere, staff all first class. Covid Safe precautions in place, would highly recommend.
The new restrictions didn’t affect the quality of service. As always the food was amazing!
Great food, service and atmosphere
Essen und Service waren sehr gut!
Great meal and service would highly recommend
The food was poor value for money, we left feeling hungry after ordering a vegetarian main whicg did not come with anything substantial eg potatoes like some of the meat options. The flavours were good but paying approximately £15 for half a cauliflower seemed a little bit too much. The waitress did not seem to know the menu that well and after asking a few initial questions which she had to go check on we didn't want to keep asking more questions that would take a while for an answer. The food wasn't bad quality but the overall experience wasn't worth the money we paid. The atmosphere was pleasant however and the lighting was nice
The quality and presentation of the food is excellent, and the staff a lovely combination of professional and personable. A lovely range of meals available from the menu, especially as most starters are also offered in larger portions as a main meal. The only reason for marking the atmosphere lower is the current necessity to have fewer tables. Otherwise, a perfect lunch venue @- thank you 😊
Lovely Scottish food in nice environment with good staff. Very reasonable prices.
Great service and thank you for letting us keep the table for a while afterwards. The food was delicious it would be even better if you had more vegetarian options on the menu
