About Howies Victoria Street
Located in the city’s historic Old Town, Howies Victoria Street is carved out of rock that Edinburgh Castle perches on above. Paired back stone walls, wooden floors and an eclectic mix of Scottish art marry marvellously with the historic surroundings.
Open seven days a week, our chefs celebrate all that is great about Scottish produce. When it comes to our drinks, much research – and plenty tastings – go into the incredible menu which boasts over 20 wines by the glass, a fantastic range of Scottish craft beer as well as whiskies and gins from all over Scotland.
On Victoria Street itself you’ll find some fantastic bars and shops, including Walker Slater, The Whisky Shop and Isle of Skye Candle Co. Look up from Howies and you’ll see our sister restaurant Scotts Kitchen which is open daily from 9am for all day dining and drinks (and the perfect spot for a drink before lunch or dinner at Howies).
Warm atmosphere, friendly service, good food in a great location. Very glad I chose to dine here!
Tasty food good choice complimentary dessert for birthday guy
Thought everything about Howies was great. Lovely service, staff with a sense of humour and cracking food! Highly recommended! Thanks
Fabulous meal and wonderful service, and a lovely vibrant atmosphere.
Prompt and professional service from knowledgeable staff. Good selection of food. One of our party felt their dish was a bit undercooked and was offered alternative without fuss. Would recommend to friends and family.
A really pleasant evening. Excellent food , attentive service and great value for money . Thank you
Excellent meal as always, atmosphere always good at Howies
Staff were all pleasant, helpful and friendly without being overbearing. Howies remains a favourite of mine. I greatly appreciate the focus on Scottish produce and the fact that there is something for everyone. My one problem is that it is difficult to hold a conversation with a table of 5/6 due to noise levels.
Great and top score for everything. The food was fresh and scrumptious, a Scottish dish to taste. The waiters and waitresses couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend for a visit.
Table booked for 6.30 but didn't get our starter until 7.10. Had to leave for 7.30 appt so meal was rushed and not enjoyed to its potential
Delicious and adventurous menu. Plenty of options for those with allergies and dietary restrictions. A bit of a "splurge" dining experience when it comes to prices. The service staff was excellent and we really enjoyed our evening.
Service was great and we had a very enjoyable meal. Thanks
We really enjoyed our meal at Howies. All the servers made us feel incredibly welcome and our table couldn't stop talking about how brilliant the food was. Would definitely recommend.
Perfect place in the city centre to have lunch. Nice service, good value for money and good Scottish food.
Very enjoyable experience; good food; lively atmosphere on a busy Saturday evening.
Good food. Good value. Cheerful service.
The food is always terrific, keep it up!
A former colleague and I have been meeting up here for lunch for a number of years. The staff are always delightful and the food never less than very good. What's not to like?
Excellent lunch catching up with friends, food and service excellent plus we weren’t rushed away either from the table which makes such a difference. Will be back !
Very happy with everything!
A very enjoyable meal, lovely staff
Superb! The food was delicious, service was wonderful, best value in Edinburgh! Will be back again.
Very pleasant experience. I went with my mom for lunch and we shared a 2-course meal + one appetizer which ended up being the perfect amount of food. We chose the haggis and mussels of the day as our appetizers. Both were amazing. They did not skimp on quanitity at all. Even the small serving of mussels was huge. There were so many in the pot and the flavor was amazing. Also had the fish of the day as our main course, also super tasty and very fresh.
Delicious food, good value on the early evening 2 course menu . Bread is amazing as extra for starter, had main course and pudding. Service very friendly and cheerful, despite being busy. Made for a very enjoyable pleasant catch up with friends.
