About Howard Street
Opened in 2013 by award winning chef Marty Murphy, Howard Street is steadily gaining a reputation for high quality produce, with south eastern undertones that result in dishes people come back for time and time again. In a lofty, industrial-esque setting customers can enjoy the food along with some of our carefully selected wines or one of Sean’s show stopping cocktails from his ‘rejuvenated’ list containing our signature cocktails along with classics with a twist.
With its striking exterior and exposed brick interior, Howard Street is a treat for the eyes as well as the taste buds. With a tempting (and reasonably priced) pre-theatre menu, as well as lunch and a la carte, there is something to suit all budgets. The kitchen focuses on full-flavoured dishes using local ingredients and the quality really is top-notch.
Quality of sea bream dish was extremely poor and despite the fact that it was taken off the bill, it really did ruin the eating experience for one of the guests who was coeliac. When I booked the table, I was assured that nearly everything could be done GF with the exception of stuffing but when we were given menus our server said the only GF meals were sea bream (which was awful) and Turkey /ham but gravy was not GF!!!! But on paying the bill, the lady in charge said that nearly everything could be made GF which really did annoy us. Overall the whole experience was a real disappointment especially since my sister recommended Howard street so highly. Would i return or recommend it? Probably not unfortunately.
Excellent lunch. Thoroughly recommended
First class food and fantastic service. Best restaurant in Belfast. We have ate here a number of times and have never been disappointed
Fantastic meal! Everything was delicious
Very relaxed laid back atmosphere but fab food and very professional and friendly service!
Excellent meal as always.
Excellent service! Food was great as usual keep up the good work! You waiter was excellent and was able to have a bit of fun and not so serious which it’s all about
The meal was a bit pricey for pre-threatre time. But, oh my goodness, was superb.
Food fantastic, the coconut soup starter was sooo good. Apple crumble was best I’ve had Only small criticism Would be the price of a small 330 mil bottle of beer. Same price as a pint anywhere else. Hence, instead of having a few, I went to a bar. But overall... very very good.
Disappointed and embarrassed... the result of my trip was me leaving before even ordering. I had a reservation for 2 at 1pm on Saturday 30/2019. I had chose to come to your restaurant as I am a previous customer and had looked at your menus online and had spotted in particular your express lunch menu for its great choice and great value for money. Listed at the top of the this particular menu online was the statement, “Please note that this menu is not available for the month of December” hence my eagerness to get in to try it and booking for lunch on the 30/11/19. However upon arrival we were taken to our seats and then told the specials, when the express lunch menu was not mentioned I asked the female waitress to which she replied that “this menu ended last week and was no longer an available option for us to choose from”. Puzzled I told the waitress what it said online and also showed her your very own webpage that said this statement in bold writing. Instead she told us that some of the food from this express menu where still available, however now listed at price now more expensive than the identical plate plus another course as advertised on the express menu online. At this time with only 5 other occupied tables in your restaurant the waitress did not even offer to communicate with a more senior member of staff and resulted in us getting up and walking out as the nice menu and “value for money” had disappeared from your lunch menu options. Overall me and my mother who had planned a lovely lunch were left scrambling to find another restaurant and also with the embarrassment of having to walk away from a table we had reserved. With out doubt I would question my likelyhood or returning to your restaurant and certainly would put your handling of customer enquires extremely low.
Food and service were fantastic. Unfortunately, we were too late (7:30 pm Friday evening?) for sirloin so we had to order chicken instead which was very good. My partner found his wooden seat a little uncomfortable, maybe seat cushions would help? Also, the dessert was great although a trio selection of mini-desserts would be lovely as I struggled to finish mine as it was quite large. We WILL be back as we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, well done to all at Howard Street! Delicious!!
Service was excellent. However I was a little disappointed with the char grilled chicken supreme. There was very little sauce and the chicken was quite bland. Most of the flavour was in the slaw. Hence the four stars. Overall though my family had a great meal and service was attentive. We would go back.
Lovely meal and great service
We knew we had to give up table afterv2 hours but to have manager come over and say ladies you have 4 mins to give up the table was not very well delivered. No problem with what he was asking just how he delivered it .
Our server Thomas was lovely. He was attentive and looked after us well when he found out we were just engaged. Food and atmosphere was also very enjoyable. Will definitely be recommending to friends. Well done
Food and ambiance fantastic. It has got a little expensive compared to last year
As usual nothing disappoints.
Fantastic ,attentive and friendly staff. Brilliant atmosphere and great food. Great to see separate vegetarian/vegan menu. Definitely recommend to friends and family and will be back.
Lovely meal, good choice on the menu with enough choice for a non meat eater and guest with gluten and dairy intolerance. Enjoyed the wine too which was sensibly priced. Great atmosphere. Hope to return one day
Food not as good as it used to be.
Another amazing afternoon spent in Howard Street. Food consistently of the highest standard, fantastic atmosphere in lovely surroundings and top class service.
Ottima cucina. Varietà di vino poco ampia e di scarsa qualita. Locale carino ma troppo affolato (tavolo che ballava in un angolino. Non il massimo). Buon prezzo per quantità e qualità del cibo. [Great food. Small choose of wine and not great quality wine. Nice place but too busy (our table was on a small corner, not the best place and chairs were not too comfortable). Good price for quality and quantity of food.]
Brilliant, best food in Belfast
