About The Horsebox at Ellenborough Park
A menu filled with classic British influences served in a relaxed and warming environment. The Horsebox has all the elements of a 5-star country pub and more.
Impeccable service, cosy restaurant with great decor. The food was faultless and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Will certainly be returning and would recommend.
Lovely staff, but the food was really over priced and incredibly bland - very disappointing. Fed this back to the reception staff in the morning and received a refund, which made me feeel better. Definitely wouldn't eat there again which is a shame because the hotel is so wonderful!
Good service. Lovely setting. Great food! Thanks very much and look forward to coming back again soon.
very nice food , well served by professional staff
The service was so slow we had to rush our food to get to the spa on time. The food was lovely though! Even though the steak and mushroom suet pudding had no mushroom!
I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch in a relaxed and comfortable environment. The staff were attentive and the food was excellent, I had no complaints whatsoever with any of the afternoon. I really hope I can get to go back sooner rather than later.
Lana was fabulous as a host, and Jordan was great conversation. The food was nice however the chicken liver parfait the bread was cold and quite chewy. The Creme brûlée was excellent as was the fish and chips and steak.
We had a great lunch at The Horsebox. Fantastic service from our waitress Lana. The food was lovely and a great way to start our Spa experience.
We have been recommended to stay in Ellenborough Park mostly due to the location, beautiful facilities as well as food. The setting of the restaurant is beautiful and we have had two meals in Horsebox: 1. lunch for which we ordered pork sausage sandwiches for (came in with wrong bread) and were extremely dry - we left half of them untouched 2. dinner - food was ok but definitely not great. our starters were average and dessert (crumble) after adding custard has become a mash which, again, we haven't finished. I believe that the most disappointing part of the experience was the service. On both occasions waiters were slightly unpleasant and gave us an impression that they 'couldn't be bothered' and kept walking away while I was still speaking to them. Again, the entire stay was amazing, facilities are beautiful, location of the place is breathtaking and the only downside of the stay was the Horsebox, unfortunately. As a business owner I understand the importance of good customer service, as well as providing customers with good product but again, would like to emphasise that it was the only negative part of the experience itself but something definitely worth paying attention to.
Would like to see a crispy battered fish with chips + peas on the main menu just like the 2017 menu in the Brasserie restaurant. The main course menu for 2018 shows Cornish Cod with Israeli cous cous and pesto,it would be interesting to know how well that course was received compared with last year's fish & chips. Crispy battered whitebait was not an option it was only on starter course. For my main course in 2018 I opted for the Braised Lamb shoulder with dauphinoise potatoes and caramelised onions and so glad I did, this course needs to stay on the menu, the chefs cooked this meal to perfection, the only reason for me giving a 4* rating on food is down to the main course choices, the menu needs to include more simple tasty everyday dishes. Desserts were a delight lots to choose from but keep the Rhubarb crumble on the list. A great atmosphere in the room, loved the band playing, book them for next year!!
Music in bar a little loud Perhaps more staff in bar area If possible we should not have to change cars at helipad.
A lovely afternoon spa great especially the pool!
Excellent food and service from the 2 staff in the restaurant. Only comment we were going to eat in the Horsebox on Sunday evening but having a television in there put me off and we ate in main restaurant
The food was ok. But we only had sandwiches. But felt that £85. For four sandwiches and four soft drinks was rather expensive. We ordered not long after we sat down but the food took a long time to arrive up to about 35-40 mins. The food was tasty and good quality and the staff were friendly. I can’t comment on the atmosphere as we were the only customers in the restaurant to begin with, which confused us as to why the food took some time to arrive at our tables. I ate at the Horsebox in December last year in the evening and the experience I remember was all good.
An incredibly disappointing experience. The food was terrible. Steak not good quality, bearnaise sauce was a just butter melted, mushroom was uncooked and cold only briefly grilled on top, tomato barely looked at the oven. For £28 absolutely unforgivable. Only redeeming factor was the response of (some) of the staff. It was dealt with very well. Following day the table next to us we’re served cold soup, so I fear the problem is pretty embedded. We had to cancel our reservation for the 2nd night and head out for dinner, which was not the plan. Such a shame as we have always loved this hotel and our stays here.
A lovely, leisurely lunch. Very relaxed!
Excellent food and service
Always feel very much at home at this lovely friendly hotel. Fish and chips the best ever !!!!
The service was a little slow but understandable if everything is being cooked from fresh. Lovely staff very friendly.
Food was amazing. Unfortunately we arrived at the same time as a fire alarm drill.
Lovely food & after writing a comment about my parents wedding anniversary when booking online - we were given some lovely chocolates! Thank you for a lovely meal.
Outside heated pool was cold, my pregnancy massage was really amazing and highly recommend
Stunning venue, lunch only let down with a rather synthetic jus for the suet pudding which itself was a delight. Partners fish was super. Evening meal very nice. Excellent old school atmosphere, very polite staff. Spa was a little clunky/pokey although staff again attentive. Was offered discount on sencondry treatments and this was not applied habe left this in your reception staffs hands.
the menu was great for my husband who eats meat but as a vegetarian it was really bad. definitely needs some work on the vegetarian options.
