About Hooden Smokehouse & Cellar
A traditional family run 17th Century English pub, with log burners, beams, serving an american smokehouse menu. Including our own recipe 16 hour brisket and burnt ends, 14 hour pulled pork and soft and juicy ribs, and much much more. We have an extensive garden that can cater for well over a hundred people, on nice days we will have the BBQ and wood burning pizza oven fired up and ready to serve delicious fresh pizza and BBQ meats. All this washed down with a great selection of fine wines, real ales and a good selection of other draught beers.
Brilliant lovely food very quick service too , friendly staff Deffo well recommended
Booked here for a works leaving get together, a table of 6. We were served at our table all night, our drinks were never empty before checking if we would like a refill. Our waiter had great knowledge of the specialised ales available and recommendations of suitable tonics for all of the gins they had. Atmosphere and decor was lovely! Food was outstanding...will definitely recommend and definitely be returning. Fabulous evening!
Great food and excellent service - will visit again
Friendly cheerful staff. Great burgers, but we thought the puds were a bit overpriced.
Booked table for 2 for a birthday. Staff were very inattentive, too busy chatting to realise we were sharing cutlery, had no napkins and sauce bottle was empty. Starter food was good but Brisket meal was like rubber and was inedible. When we complained we were offered a free drink or dessert, which we declined as by this point our evening had been ruined. We were then charged for half of the brisket meal, which we refused to pay as it has been entirely inedible! Bill was finally changed but we left within an hour of arriving. Very disappointing and would not recommend for food.
Excellent food, friendly service and value for money as usual.
Food was superb and cooked to perfection . We will defiantly be going back for more !
Amazing food good portions and good value. Lovely atmosphere and great new drinking area.
When we booked we were told they required the table at 19:45. When we arrived we were told that the kitchen closed at 18:00, which meant we had to choose drinks and 2 courses on the quick. Not much of a welcome. The food was OK but my brisket and burnt ends wasn't as the burnt ends were unedible and hard as chalk. The only reason for 3 stars is some of the party had eaten here a week before and had a good time.
Had a lovely evening at the Smokehouse with great service. The only thing that let the place down was the dessert...not nice at all and clearly brought in. I had the banoffee which was tasteless and some of the others had the pecan tart which just consisted of very thick pastry!! If I returned, I wouldn’t bother order a pud as waste of money
We booked a leaving do and were very impressed with the surroundings, the food and the staff! Love the setting and would definitely come back. Thank you for a great evening.
Had a lovely meal at the Hooden, for Fathers Day. Despite it being a busy day, the service was great, the staff friendly as always, and the food delicious.
Tasteless and dry ribs, and better burger in 5 guys .. poor menu choice on starters . Great for the garden drinks or watching the football , but not for food. Better options elsewhere.
Great quality meat & cooked really well. Highly recommend the T Bone steak & pint of curious brew.
Food was fantastic shame about the staff. Took ages to get our 1st round of drinks, we had to chase them. 3 female staff and 1 male, thank God for the male member of the team as he saved the evening. 3 female, 1 manager/supervisor too much to do and obviously stressed as quite short and abrupt when questioned about drinks. Server couldn't use system and had no customer service skills. 3rd female member of staff either smiled behind bar when quiet or went missing when the bar area was busy. As previously mentioned thank God for the food and the male member of staff.
Lovely work lunch in the sunny garden, accommodated us as we only had an hour so pre-ordered and so didn't wait for our food and didn't have to rush.
Ribs served without a bowl for the bones..no hot water and lemon bowl to was your hands after ribs...normal for finger food resulted in a trip to the ladies with very sticky fingers gets to wash hands..not hygienic..Ribs however tasted good..and accompanying salad tasty Steak on skewers were chewy..and some was leff by another member of the party..food pricey..
