Holm House Hotel and Restaurant serves the best in British and Continental Cuisine with unparalleled service from Breakfast through to Dinner.
The reception staff were very welcoming and provided a great explanation of how things worked. Our room was clean and the bed super comfortable. We ate in the restaurant the food was freshly prepared and tasty.
Excellent service and friendly staff Fab view from the restaurant. Pricey but worth it.
Have eaten here on numerous occasions and Christmas Day was one of them. As usual, superb food, excellent atmosphere and the service was second to none. Highly recommended and thanks to the whole kitchen and restaurant team for making our day that little bit more special!
Fantastic sevice in the restaurant really enjoyed our stay
Lovely afternoon tea, service and atmosphere both wonderful in beautiful surroundings
Disappointed that the Chateaubriand no longer comes with the 3 sauces and not served on a hot plate so it went cold rather quick but other than that no issues, service and staff were excellent
Would have been nice to have been offered additional sandwiches as the 4 fingers per person is maybe a little small a portion for a hungry male. They very very nice sandwiches as well!
An enjoyable afternoon in a pleasant setting. Would love to try dinner at the hotel now I have sampled afternoon tea.
We had a lovely lunch at Holm House. The setting is beautiful, with excellent attentive staff. The food was delicious ( with very generous portion sizes!) Looking forward to vitiating again soon, and trying out the spa facilities.
Where do I begin...my family and I have been visitors to Holm House to use their spa and restaurant for many years but our most recent visit was disappointing. Upon arriving at the hotel at 9.50am we walked through the front door into reception where 2 cleaners were on the stairs chatting and we were heckled “watch out the floor is wet”. There was no staff at reception desk and no ‘wet floor’ sign in reception (the wet floor sign was in the lounge area). I booked 3 spa treatments totalling nearly £200 for 2 people, yet because I hadn’t booked one of the standard ‘spa packages’ I was asked by a lady who I assume to be the spa manager (she didn’t introduce herself but was dressed professionally and met us on reception when we arrived) to remove myself from a lounger in the relaxation area and sit on a chair “because we have lots of spa clients coming”. There were 3 other loungers unoccupied and in the 30 minutes I remained in the relaxation area no additional clients came in. I was at the spa for a facial and my mother was having a facial and a massage; I suggest you either re-educate your staff to treat all guests in the relaxation area with equality or you have a separate relaxation area for guests who are not partaking in spa package days. My mother and I both had hour long facials in the duo room (excellent facials - courteous and attentive therapists). Then my mother was informed that her massage would be in another room so she would need to put a robe on and carry her clothing and belongings across the corridor to the other room. I felt this was unnecessary and poor practice and subsequently diminished the ‘relaxation’ she had just experienced. I did not put a special request at booking to have simultaneous facials so I’m not sure why a better practice/planning couldn’t have been put in place. We followed up with lunch in the restaurant. The food was, as always, a high standard and delicious. However, upon requesting the bill we were informed rather loudly that a service charge was being applied and if we wanted to remove it we ‘just need to ask’. It is in my experience common practice to apply a service charge for larger parties or during peak periods, but in a hotel restaurant that had only 4 other diners and we had only 1 course each I felt this was ridiculous.
Smaller main course portions on this visit but food was beautifully cooked and very tasty
Disappointed afternoon tea
Some low background music would have been a nice addition.
First Class lunch on New years day.
Everything from booking to leaving was First Class. A must for anyone who wishes to experience quality within a relaxed enviroment
Excellent meal from the festive menu, disappointed that the usual a la carte or steak menus weren’t available though. Usually stay in a room with bedside bath, which are lovely. This was a last minute idea and we got a normal room for £85 for 2 including superb breakfast. Only sour note, we received a call at 9.12am saying breakfast was closing in 5 minutes. We were definitely not informed of this when checking in. Rushed down and rushes our food as it was evident that the afternoon wedding was taking complete priority. One poor couple walked in for breakfast at just before 10, not unreasonable for a Saturday morning, but were told they were too late. Again they were not informed on checking in. Bit of a blight on the stay to be honest.
Excellent apart from the welsh cheeseboard platter desert. Your brochure advertised this as including a glass of port. This was not given for the two platter deserts we had. We did not realise this until we returned home so did not complain at the time. On reflection none of our party noticed any other guests having a glass of port either. This was the only thing that let the experience down. Was this just an oversight on your part? If so it should have been picked up by your restraint manager.
Dan and the team gave up their Christmas to make everyone’s day amazing. My only criticism was I think the meal was a little over priced at £100pp
Faulty Towers comes to mind, lovely venue, shame the service and attention to detail does not support this.
The singer in the restaurant was way to loud. Should be just background music whilst having dinner Plus she wasn’t very good and your waiter that sang was much better. Also you had run out of the posset dessert that 3 of us wanted but it was only 8.30 pm ! Wasn’t happy with the evening at all.
Great food. Awesome service
Excellent service, very attentive and catered well for my five year old niece. Lovely ambience and good value food. We will be back!
Very enjoyable dining experience with beautiful surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere. Well worth the visit.
Excellent food and the service was particularly good. We will be coming again soon. Thank you
A thoroughly enjoyable evening with family. Excellent service and wonderful atmosphere. Very festive , we loved the Christmas lights and decorations.
