About Hole In The Wall
Hole in the Wall dates as far back as 1651, the medieval Inn was then called 'Ye sign of ye Blackhorse Inn'. It was enjoyed historically as a coaching house and as a tavern.
Today, driving along Blackhorse Avenue you will catch sight of the imposing Tudor style exterior of the Hole in the Wall, first impressions
are lasting. It is exactly 100 metres long qualifying it as the longest pub in Europe.
This pub nestles against the Phoenix park wall. It combines the merits of a Dublin cosmopolitan city pub with the pure, fresh air and amenities of the 1700 acre Phoenix Park. This makes it a unique destination pub in Dublin to visit.
Hole in the Wall has a rare mixture of antiquity and character throughout, attention to detail has always been paramount. Everything has been carefully selected to compliment the ambience that characterises the pub, with roaring fires in the winter months adding to its atmosphere, and a beer garden in summertime to chill and relax.
Hole in the Wall gastro-pub offers a daily fresh extensive menu. The Wine shop has a splendid selection of world wines where one can carefully choose their wine with free corkage to drink, enjoy and compliment their food. The Hole in the Wall staff and team aim to achieve a blend of hospitality, friendliness and efficiency, and we trust that your visit with us will be very enjoyable and a good experience.
Reservations should not be allowed, arrived 10 minutes early for booking to be told they are not taking bookings. Staff member with English accent said he was manager and had "not checked emails in weeks" states he doesn't know how to turn off reservation system, explained I had confirmed. Don't understand why a phone-call could not have been organised to stop people from travelling to the venue. I understand it is a difficult times for business' but I want to support them. If the staff member was polite and kindly explained why he couldn't have called to prevent us from travelling, I wouldn't be writing this review. I was embarrassed to bring my family there for us all to drive home straight away.
Got there, our reservation meant nothing. Apparently walk in only, place was packed nowhere to sit so left.
As enjoyable as ever, still a lovely atmosphere and still feeling safe and distanced. So disappointing it has to close again.
Great evening, delicious food and lovely charming wait staff. Keep safe and see you all soon
Our favourite pub/restaurant in Dublin! The food is lovely, service friendly and the atmosphere cosy and warm. We are so lucky to have this little gem as our local and we would recommend it to both locals and tourists alike.
Great as always. Best wishes in the new lock down and we will be back as soon as possible
Staff were very friendly and the food was amazing!! One of the best wings in Dublin😍
Excellent food and drink served by very friendly staff
We had wings, lamb shank, fillet of pork and onion rings. All we’re tasty, though the pork was slightly overcooked.
Great spot for an enjoyable tasty meal with good and friendly service
Everything was great from start to end....nice vibe, great food and fabby company
Chowder is class. Guinness is creamy.
We had a fantastic dinner for our little girls communion. Food was delicious staff very accommodating and a speedy service. Would highly recommend the restaurant and will visit again. Huge portions great value for money.
Despite current restrictions had a very enjoyable visit. We almost forgot about Covid for an hour. Very clear to see all the guidelines are being adhered to on the premises. Food very tasty too !
We had such a lovely visit. The restaurant service is fantastic and so friendly. We visited the new bar and it was so nice and the cocktails were amazing! I would highly recommend to anyone!
Lovely food and friendly staff. . I Would Recommend to my friends.
I had dinner with 3 friends in your restaurant last Thursday evening. Atmosphere and staff lovely. Starters were very tasty and nicely presented. One of my friends had the vegan beetroot and barley risotto which wasn’t very tasty and felt poor value for money. The salmon and pork mains very tasty but the feather of beef was tough. Overall we did enjoy the evening though but just thought I would let you know about the 2 mains that 2 people did not like!
Great food and atmosphere as always
Simply amazing as usual.
Booked into the restaurant Friday evening for my boyfriends birthday was seated right beside another couple which was a bit awkward. I understand doors need to be left open but the place was baltic. The vibe was 90s pop music blaring & the lights were diming up and down every two minutes. :/... can't fault food & staff!
Really friendly, professional, good food, exceptional service. Felt very safe Re covid etc. Little bit expensive for family of 6 but loveky food nonetheless.
Fabulous waiters. Super funny and always a step ahead. I can’t wait for Christmas time with you.
Really well organised- managing all of the regulations whilst still maintaining excellent customer Service!
Unusual to see everyone sitting but it’s a job well done. Food, service & friendliness is amazing. The newly renovated upstairs is a complete success, tastefully decorated & very comfortable. Well done to Martin & all the staff @ The Hole in the Wall.
