About Hole In The Wall
Hole in the Wall dates as far back as 1651, the medieval Inn was then called 'Ye sign of ye Blackhorse Inn'. It was enjoyed historically as a coaching house and as a tavern.
Today, driving along Blackhorse Avenue you will catch sight of the imposing Tudor style exterior of the Hole in the Wall, first impressions
are lasting. It is exactly 100 metres long qualifying it as the longest pub in Europe.
This pub nestles against the Phoenix park wall. It combines the merits of a Dublin cosmopolitan city pub with the pure, fresh air and amenities of the 1700 acre Phoenix Park. This makes it a unique destination pub in Dublin to visit.
Hole in the Wall has a rare mixture of antiquity and character throughout, attention to detail has always been paramount. Everything has been carefully selected to compliment the ambience that characterises the pub, with roaring fires in the winter months adding to its atmosphere, and a beer garden in summertime to chill and relax.
Hole in the Wall gastro-pub offers a daily fresh extensive menu. The Wine shop has a splendid selection of world wines where one can carefully choose their wine with free corkage to drink, enjoy and compliment their food. The Hole in the Wall staff and team aim to achieve a blend of hospitality, friendliness and efficiency, and we trust that your visit with us will be very enjoyable and a good experience.
Hi, We were waiting nearly an hour for our starters and just found the overall service wasn’t great . We had to ask on numerous occasions for water refills . Then just over all we didn’t find it was great value for money . Kind Regards Maeve
Gorgeous food whole family enjoyed. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back. Would highly recommend
I was never in the hole in the wall pub before drove past it plenty of times , I was in there sunday for my dinner ,the food was absolutely delicious portions were no way small my wife got chicken wings I think she is still eating them today there was that much 😋 .my kids are fussy eaters but they cleared the plates,my daughter got the fish& chips 3 good sized pieces of cod and chips very filling and the young fella got the gousjons( might not be the right spelling) and he cleared the design off the plate it was that good, great food good service and good covit safety others might have not as good as me but I will be going bak to the holer very soon maybe saturday coming I'll get her self on the phone soon to book it 10 out of 10 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Distancing and hygiene very well managed. Very friendly welcome and our server was very efficient and extremely entertaining in his interaction with the children. Our food was very tasty and well presented. All in all, a very enjoyable experience for our first time dining out since lockdown.
Good choice for dinner
Friendly staff, good service. Will visit again.
Very friendly, helpful staff and food is very good.
Lovely meal in the new mezzanine area upstairs. Beautiful decor and space.
Pork dish bad choice over cooked and dry. Requested apple sauce unfortunately none available as it would have help digest a bad meal!
Excellent overall, both service and food was top notch. The wings and the hole in the wall burger was fantastic. Will be back again 👍👍👍
Amazing food. Fantastic staff. Full confidence in this particular business due to their responsible attitudes to fulfilling staff and customer safety. Great reassurance for all concerned.
Very enjoyable evening, great food and great service.
The food was beautiful. The staff were very friendly and generous with their time. The social distance was observed. The whole experience was an enjoyable one.
We had such a lovely dinner here and the service was amazing. Have been recommending to everyone, I will definitely be back!

Warm and welcoming
Always a great experience
Always enjoy our nights in the hole
It is always a good experience stopping by in hole in the wall. Their lager is quite good definitely recommend.
I'm not 100% sure our table had been fully sanitised when we sat down. Also there was a lack of hand sanitisers at the entrance to restaurant part. Apart from that, I believe they made a good effort with the guidelines. The food as usual was very nice. The service is good if a bit chaotic. It was much quicker due to reduced capacity. I always feel that the service links isn't 100% integrated. I'd still go back and hope to do so soon
Lovely food but some mains items are pricey and not served with sides. Starters and desserts are amazing.
Felt like we were pushed into any corner. Very little social distancing. Way to over priced for what you get! Won't be returning
