About Hoar Cross Hall - Hugos
Our cold buffet starter offers a wide variety of seafood, cold meats, salads or a bowl of our freshly prepared seasonal soups. To follow, there’s a wide range of beautifully prepared main courses to choose from to create a unique lunch time dining experience.
We are sorry but this restaurant is not currently accepting online reservations through ResDiary.
After being seated for our reservation, we were very quickly advised here's the menus, starters are off the buffet at the front and I will be back in a minute. So after having a look through the menu and deciding, we sat and waiting for someone to come and take the order, after sitting around looking a bit lost and no-one returning to our table we decided to go and get our starters, so as we sit down to eat someone finally came to take our mains and drinks order. Our drinks came out a good 20 min after ordering, 2 x pepsi and our mains took 40 min from finishing our starters. We even went back for bread off the buffet as we were so hungry. Noticing every one else's mains coming, we tried to grab one of the staff but that was a lot harder than anticipated. Anyway finally our food arrived, and it was very tasty just a shame that it took over 40 min which meant time sitting around in the restaurant was less time to enjoy the spa. Pudding was followed soon after and was also tasty. Our water for the table never arrived, and the tables in the restaurant are definitely seated too close together.
My sister and I have been coming to Hoar Cross Hall for 15 years now and whilst on a personal level I do not car for the 'modern' contemporary design and much preferred the more authentic soft furnishings I do understand the reasons for this. The only real 'gripe' I have is that I honestly feel there should be tablecloths on the table for the evening meal the food was so beautifully presented and of such a high quality it was slightly 'marred' by the clatter of cutlery on the marble table tops. I understand cost is a major issue however, I feel on this occasion it is warranted.
Lovely food Great treatments Beautiful facilities and atmosphere Just a bit too pricey
Bland hot food but good salad buffet
Delicious food with courteous, fast and efficient service once we were seated. When we appeared by the door a few minutes before our reservation three members of the team walked past and ignored us. I understand that a particular member of the team is allocated to show guests to their table and that she was not there for a few minutes but I would have thought it better service for staff walking directly past us to acknowledge our presence and perhaps advise us their colleague would come to seat us shortly
They mixed our food and drinks up with the next table twice then on checkout we got billed for their drinks
Restaurant food looked beautiful, and tasted as good as it looks. Spa was main reason for our stay, but restaurant food really did make the stay more special.
Superb Day, been each year for my Birthday for the last 12 years, seems to just get better. Friendly helpful staff as always ,clean, and always seem to be improving, new furnishings more tables for 2 and not too close together. food cooked and served with perfection. Beautiful.
Thoroughly enjoyed our day was very relaxing treatment was amazing had a deep tissue massage facial and scalp. The food was lovely a good variety very tasty I would definitely recommend it.
Had a lovely time on our over night stay. Staff really lovely and attentive. Sign posting internally and externally very poor. Get lost continually inside. Outside poor also. Food mixed. Some courses lovely, excellent breakfast. Lunch main cold. Salad bar excellent. Puddings great. Poor you have pay extra for chips and sides on evening meals, when booked all inclusive. Bar tender excellent great about drinks
We had a lovely day with a lovely meal
It is difficult to enjoy a relaxing day when the place is overbooked and there isn't enough spaces for people to relax. This is the second time I've been to HCH and I'm afraid I wouldn't come again. The queue for lunch was ridiculous and the food was bland (on both occasions). There's a lack of seating, the spa facilities are massively overcrowded. One woman was moving people's belongings to have access to the hot beds, people are on their mobile phones and no one seems to notice. All in all, an overpriced spa.
Lunch was really nice, good selection, friendly staff
Thankyou Kelly Tomlinson from reservations for the prosecco at the table as promised. It was very kindly received from the ladies. Our waiter was excellent, he was very professional and polite .
Had an amazing day the place is absolutely stunning the food was gorgeous and i can't wait to come back again
Had a lovely day!
Excellent service and great menu choices
My mother, sister and I enjoyed a fabulous 3 course meal as part of our spa day. The food really was exceptional and catered for all dietary requirements.
Starters and Mains were most impressive. Plenty of vegan options on the starter station, I managed to get a full and varied plate. There were 2 vegan options on the main menu, which I was pleased with because it gave a choice. However, dessert was a little disappointing. The only vegan option was a fruit ‘salad’ which mainly consisted of melon(s). Something a little more varied or exciting would have been nice, but still glad that there was at least ONE vegan option. Overall we really enjoyed lunch, thank you.
great choice and quality
Soup tasty but a bit too thin. Pasta main course was creamy but bland . Blackberry and sultana bread and butter pudding was not very good - wouldnt order again ! Soft drink ordered was out of stock . Maybe some subtle background music would help with the atmosphere . A tea / coffee after the meal would be nice .
Compliment: food and restaurant service was second to none - delicious food and friendly staff. Complaint - there were too many teenage girls screaming and cackling (its not waterworld!) and taking photos with mobiles - not very relaxing. Spa etiquette should be given as a reminder upon checking in. Comment - the man serving in the café area in the main reception was grumpy and took way too long to serve simple coffees. Customers were an inconvenience to him.
Starter was good, main was only warm and didn't taste anything like the menu suggested (garlic and lemon chicken). Requested second glass of wine three times and ended up finishing the three courses without the drink. Regarding the actual booking the main pool area was so high in chlorine levels that our throats and eyes were sore and we didn't even attempt to go into the water as it was making our eyes stream. This was reported to reception. I spoke to other guests who also were experiencing similar problems (one partially sighted lady was bathing eyes with ice cubes it was that bad. I would like someone to contact me to discuss/provide partial refund due to not being able to sit around pool area and enjoy some of the facilities.
Lovely service. Lovely food. Catered for our allergies fantastically. Would highly recommend.
