About Hide and Fox
Quality modern British cuisine served in an intimate and relaxed environment, with a focus on exceptional service and fine wines.
Had a magnificent lunch, in fact more an experience than a lunch. It was a very special occasion (albeit postponed from the real date) and it was all that one could have wished for. Atmosphere only slightly affected by the dreaded virus!
Great food and outstanding service.
Great meal, thanks.
Simply the best series of courses I have eaten, flavoursome, with multiple elements, colours and textures, all of them well presented. The only disappointment was the meal coming to an end. A large and intriguing wine list, giving an opportunity to explore wines from unexpected countries.
Wonderful food. Exquisite balance of flavours. Excellent and attentive service. Expensive but so worth it!
Excellent food, atmosphere and service. The combination of tastes was inspirational. My only critique was that I wanted to taste the seven courses offered but my lady only wanted the five course menu but I can understand that this would have interrupted the serving. Also, one understands that food of this quality comes at a premium but it also precludes the combination of recommended wines for each course. I love the French term of ‘desgustation’ but unfortunately as a pensioner I have to be careful on such extravagant expenditure. Nevertheless and excellent meal and the wine was good.
Really enjoyable experience as always, looking forward to our next visit. Well done to all the team at H&F.
We honestly cannot fault our experience the food was excellent, wine list and expertise in recommendations was exceptional. I’m sure the next time we dine with you, you’ll have a Michelin star. Brilliant experience well worth stopping at. Thank you
Wonderful local restaurant to have on our doorstep. Always very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable.
An absolutely stunning meal. We've eaten in quite a few fine dining restaurants and I think we both found this to rank with the very best food we've ever eaten. I think the star of the show (perhaps surprisingly) was the cheese course - I'd never expected blue cheese and a flapjack could be such an amazing pairing. Utterly unforgettable. Very close seconds were the raviolo and the lamb dish, both of which were delightful. That's not to do anything else we had down, but those three were definitely the jewels in the crown. The quality of service was lovely, and we found the atmosphere just the right blend of elegance and informality - there was a real sense of warmth and it was a big plus. One suggestion for improvement: the mocktails are a great start but I'm used to having a choice of non-alcoholic beers these days. To not have a single one on offer was quite disappointing. The mocktails that my wife had were both amazing I must say though! Thanks a million, sincerely hope we can get back after lockdown, there's a whole other menu to try.
Another lovely meal and a delightful dining experience. Sometimes the menu choices we make for ourselves can lead to disappointment - this menu, by contrast, was thoughtfully ordered: each dish was interesting visually and deliciously balanced flavour-wise; a pleasure for the senses and a very satisfying eating experience. The service was very warm, attentive and informative. We sat back, relaxed, allowed ourselves to be looked after, and had a wonderful lunch. Thanks to the whole team for your hard work and attention to detail. It made our day.
It was the most wonderful experience! It was our first (but certainly not our last!) visit. We loved the idea of 5 or 7 tasting menus. It took the worry out of decision making. And for the first time ANYWHERE we experienced a restaurant where EVERY course was treated with the same care and equal attention to detail. As a result each course was a gem! We chose the 5 course menu, because we wanted to try the Raviolo and the lamb. We were so delighted with our choice. And the pear and white chocolate dessert was a stunning finale. Such a treat just before Lockdown 2. We chose the Simpsons white wine to drink as we wanted to support a Kent vineyard (we live opposite a new vineyard in Brabourne, first harvest this year!) and found it was a perfect accompaniment to each of the courses. The service was perfection. Thank you for the really wonderful experience. We can’t wait to come back. Our only regret was that we didn’t have a chance to thank the chef himself! PS The safety anti-covid measures were very comforting - an anti-bacterial dispenser on each table was a brilliant addition. All the best Ilinca
We chose the 7 course tasting menu and every part of it was a culinary delight. I particularly enjoyed the Jerusalem artichoke mousse. Beef was substituted for the venison which was initially disappointing but we thoroughly enjoyed that course too. Service was relaxed and unrushed with helpful explanations of both food and wine. For us this a treat rather than a regular restaurant but we will be coming back and recommending others too
Fabulous meal warm and friendly service - such a lovely lunch - we really enjoyed ourselves- what a treat! Keep doing what you’re doing so well- we hope to be back! Jill & Rob
Beautiful food without being overly pretentious. Great service with staff who are happy to laugh with you rather than being too stiff. A fantastic evening, a tonic for mind & body.
An excellent and enjoyable dining experience. Recommended.
Absolutely loved it - we will be back! It was a bit pricey but worth every penny :)
An absolutely stunning meal with attentive service, would throughly recommend
So good we booked again!
Lovely attentive service and excellent food
We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our meal. The food was inventive and delicious and could not be faulted. The wine that was suggested was perfect.
Just great food and service.
Last visit i was a little disappointed by the dessert, ending a great meal, this visit everything was a perfect blend of delicious flavours from the canapes to the dessert. I could not fault anything
One of the best meals we have ever eaten. All the flavour combinations were delicious and the chef is obviously innovative and very skilled. The service was perfect - attentive without being overly so - and Alice's passion and knowledge about wine meant we tried delicious wine pairings that we would never have thought of. We would thoroughly recommend Hide & Fox.
Food was amazing beautifully presented. Felt a bit rushed courses came out very quickly. Only 3 tables the whole lunchtime were taken so it was very quiet and lacked atmosphere... everyone had to whisper! I’m sure that’s only because of Covid and if it had been busier there would have been more atmosphere. Maybe some low level music? Waiting staff very Friendly helpful and attentive. Would definitely recommend and definitely come back .
