An independent watering hole by the sea. Pouring local craft beers, a selection of our very favourite wines, beautifully crafted cocktails and the best seasonal & regional ingredients, served simply.
Maybe some fans/air con in the summer. We dined with you twice-loved the food & ambience but SO hot inside. As you walk in you hit a wall of heat.
Had a lovely evening. Herringbone has a great atmosphere. Will definitely return. Well worth travelling to if you live in East Lothian or Edinburgh.
Fantastic restaurant! delicious food, great atmosphere, friendly staff
Could not fault anything. Relaxed surroundings, excellent service and high quality food. Will definitely be back and can not recommend Herringbone highly enough.
We had a really delicious meal, thank you. Service was prompt, even though it was a very busy evening, the atmosphere was great and the drinks were yummy too! Thanks for a great evening.
The baked Crab Gratin followed by the Pan Seared Sea bream was one of the most enjoyable meals I have this year - keep it going and I'll be back for more !
Staff very professional Food good Wine excellent value, especially Provence Rose A bit too dog friendly, but that's North Berwick Overall v.g.
We'd booked a table for dinner and were placed in the front section of the restaurant on a Friday at about 8pm. There was a really good atmosphere but, as diners, we seemed to be in the minority in this part of the restaurant. So if you're in for dinner in this section of the restaurant be prepared to shout to be heard over the drunks. Next time I'll book a table in the rear section as we began to feel uncomfortable as the drunks fell over and became louder. They'll soon be needing a bouncer at the door.
Very nice evening - good food and attentive staff.
Had a fabulous meal and staff were fantastic, thanks to everyone, will definitely be back.
Although the waitress took our order promptly, we waited about an hour for anything to arrive and then our starters arrived before our cocktails. It turned out, apparently, that the drinks orders had not been getting through to the bar. Eventually our drinks arrived and were great, and a senior member of staff also volunteered to take the cocktails off our bill before we had a chance to ask. This went a long way to remedying the situation, but it was disappointing given the mixed reviews on Trip Advisor and means that I would shrink from recommending the restaurant to some relatives and friends. We were all pleased with the food, except I was underwhelmed by my very tomatoey crab gratin. I had expected something creamy and cheesy and would have preferred that. The tomatoes rather drowned out the crab. Lovely restaurant though, and a very welcome change from the rather Italian heavy offerings of local restaurants. Good luck to you all for another great year.
Had a late lunch before heading to Fringe by the Sea event. Place was busy but the staff coped well. Slight delay between sitting down and getting someone to order drinks but apart from that all good and food spot on
The atmosphere is a little spoilt by the poor acoustics that make it difficult to hear! Next time will ask for a table in the back if that is possible. The food is really wonderful so don’t want to be put off by not hearing my fellow diners! Service is terrific!
We headed down to Herringbone to escape Edinburgh for a Birthday lunch. We could have just stayed all day. Food was lovely, never felt rushed and sat for over four hours catching up with no interruptions, which was lovely. Staff were attentive and helpful. Can’t wait to come back!
We have not been for a while but very very happy with the meal with the tall girl that served us being extremely pleasant
Really difficult temperatures for patrons and staff especially without a/c - it was explained why this was the case and all staff we encountered were smiley and enthusiastic and helped us to have a wonderful evening - making an off-menu cocktail and generally being obliging and helpful. Food and drink were good but we really come here more for the atmosphere and we’re not disappointed!
Brilliant place. Great friendly service wonderful food in such a good location. It’s also dog heaven.
By far, the best restaurant in North Berwick. Amazing food, wine, cocktails & desserts!
Wine well overpriced for a glass of house merlot at £8!
Crab Gratin very tasty but portion could have been larger. Bream was excellent.
Fabulous place. Friendly atmosphere, great staff and the food is wonderful
A fantastic visit to Herringbone (as ever!).
Tasty food, excellent location
Lovely food for 4 of the 5 of us. Particularly good mushroom and tarragon soup.
