About Hare and Hounds
Here at the Hare & Hounds we serve good quality food and drinks in relaxed and informal surroundings.
Alongside our bar, we offer a small, daily changing, seasonal menu in our dining room. We use the very best produce that the Vale of Glamorgan has to offer. We have some of the most productive soil in the UK, which gives us meat, game and vegetables of the highest quality. The produce available to us from the best Vale producers, our own kitchen garden and our smallholding, dictate what is on the menu from day to day.
Everything is made from scratch in our kitchen, from our own sourdough bread and cultured butter, to fresh pasta. This is not pretentious fine dining; its just about good food, whether you’ve been for a long walk with your dog or have got something to celebrate. It is a type of regional Welsh cooking.
We are the proud holder of a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide, and we’re featured in The Good Food Guide, the Good Pub Guide and the Michelin Eating Out in Pubs Guide.
Our meal was amazing, we loved all of it, and we were grateful to be able to sit outside at our request.
Excellent as always! I had a particularly tough( lots of sinus,I mentioned it to the waitress.....I was promptly brought a fresh meal out..which I didn’t expect,I only asked for a fresh piece of beef. Quality of of food, and service as always!
My daughter and I, accompanied by our small dog, ate a delicious lunch in the bar in front of the open fire after a long walk. The food was outstanding, especially the seafood crumpet and chocolate fondant with marmalade ice cream. I wish the talented staff every success as they tackle yet another government imposed obstacle to their wonderful hospitality
Just excellent couldn’t fault anything we regularly eat here & love it
Fab for a special occasion. The food and service was excellent. My only critism is the menu was limited and no option seen for one course only. There were 2 goose dishes but would of preferred another meat dish as one of our party really struggled to order as doesn't like fish, pork or goose and the venison had sold out. Also too many of the dishes were for two to share.
What a special night out—impressively curated wine list.
Great service and very friendly staff! Really enjoyed the food and enjoyed having such different and varied menu to choose from. We’ll be booking again for sure when we can.
Great meal and all of us really enjoyed it
Excellent food and great friendly service .Thank you for a lovely meal,my wife thought the Hake dish was one of the best she has had , so far. Will be booking soon, hopefully🤞
Wide range of interesting dishes - well presented and all delicious. Very friendly staff. Very Covid safe. Looking forward to next visit!
Very impressed with the amazing standard of food, service and atmosphere. Will definitely be returning
Before COVID, the pub used to give you bread & a sample taster, but now the lovely homemade bread is extra & potatoes are also an extra price which increases the price of the meal - a real shame but the restaurant is still worth visiting.
The food was really good, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I found the beef quite tough and chewy and the gravy was too watery, other than that the food was excellent and I can’t fault the starter and dessert. I like the pub it was fitting with the location, but it didn’t really blow me away there wasn’t anything really exciting about the decor. Service was really good, the waitresses were very attentive and quick. Value for money, for the meal we had I think the price was fair, however it is quite expensive compared to other Sunday dinners.
Great meal on the whole. Fabulous sourdough. The pheasant pie was enormous and delicious - what we couldn't eat was put in a box to take away. The bramley souffle was outstanding - wonderfully light with a real hit of apple. The crab risotto was tasty, but two in our party had shell fragments, which was disappointing. One last thing - on a chilly afternoon we found it cold, despite our table being by the kitchen.
Very good Sunday lunch. Will return. Lamb Saddle and roast beef lunches were very good. Atmosphere not helped by COVID restrictions. Let’s all hope we get back to normal soon. We have to keep our small businesses running.
Absolutely stunning food, great service and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Very well managed in these challenging times. Can't wait to come back
Really delicious food , great service
Fantastic dishes and a great choice of seasonal ingredients. Every dish that came from the kitchen looked great.
Our lunch visit on 20/11/2020 was the first time that my wife & I had been back to the Hare' since before lockdown 1. The food (excellent seasonal menu) and service was as always, first rate and the Covid precautions were reassuring with lots of room between tables and customers. Looking forward to returning soon.
Delicious food, friendly service and lovely warm atmosphere, we really enjoyed it all.
Absolutely delicious food in new combinations. Chocolate bar with sorbet was to die for. Thursday lunchtime was not too busy, and service was friendly and relaxed.
We had a amazing meal, thanks
we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown to our table, which had been allocated according to the current rules. There was a slight delay in one of our party arriving but this appeared to present no difficulty to either the kitchen or waiting staff. Excellent food and service made for a pleasant evening. Would recommend if you are looking for something other that an ordinary pub meal
