About Harbourside Ocean Bar Grill
Our menu is classically inspired yet always creative, our wine list is elegant without being complicated, and our service is both polished and friendly. What sets us apart is not only our location but also our ability to make everyone feel welcome and a part of the upscale-relaxed atmosphere so rare in Auckland.

Compliments to the Chef, the food was amazing! Our waiters were extremely friendly and ensured we were well taken care of.
Service was incredibly slow. My lamb was very good but my wife ordered the snapper in a small size (listed on menu at $39). When we got the bill we were charged $63; they then told us that they were out of small and this was all they had. I commented that we should have been told that when we ordered and not now. The gentleman at the desk copped an attitude, no apolo, but did adjust the bill.
Fantastic food, service and view - faultless.
Staff were very slow to respond. The food however was well presented and delicious pity it took forever to get it.
Great food, service and view.
Harbourside is perfect for a special occasion.
really enjoyed the lunch and a nice spot on the deck looking out over the water.
Harbourside offers sophisticated dining for a special night out. We recently took our young visitors from New York and they loved it. The service was friendly and professional - well informed and well timed. The menu offered a wide range of fish dishes - all beautifully cooked and presented - and the harbour views provided a wonderful ambience for a summer evening.
Fantastic venue, food and service.
The food was lovely with the exception of the vegetarian entree which was essentially boiled carrots with cubes of feta on top. We had hoped for more imagination in this day and age of plant-based diners!
Table not ready. Cocktail uninspired. Entree (prawn cocktail) ridiculous; 4 little prawns. Entree (sushimi) good. 2 x eye fillet undercooked and underwhelming. Fine dining prices without the standards to match. Our waiter was good, but that’s about it.
It was a perfect night sitting on the deck in warm conditions with a fantastic selection of seafood
Lovely setting and excellent food. Service not particularly efficient, we had to ask for our salads and vegetables which didn’t arrive with the main courses. Same with wine - service could be improved
The worst service ever experienced.
Great waiter and food!!!
Very good service and nice food.
Service was very slow!
It's expensive, but thats what you get if you want fine dining. Ver pleasant indeed.
Had a good time is the best restaurant in Auckland, great service, friendly, professional, good selection of food and drink. Was disappointed on not having crayfish sold out , had been looking forward to tasting this dish as Harbourside does it so well. Particularly as we do not live in Auckland anymore special visit for weekend. Thank you
Awesome experience, service and atmosphere were fantastic, food was to die for, would definitely recommend to anyone, thank you for the pleasure of dining in your establishment
Very (too) expensive.
A couple of hiccups. One of the main courses had been forgotten so arrived late, and the prawn cocktail was lacking in sauce and so quite plain. The wine list is almost too long, and pricey. But otherwise the food was excellent and our waiter was quite outstanding.
We arrived on time for our dinner reservation and were promptly told by our server that he would be with us, “In a few minutes.” After ten minutes of neglect we had ro ask the FoH manager to take our orders. When we got our server’s attention we ordered entrees and mains promptly but were not served the mains until 1 hour and 45 minutes elapsed. 8 deeply regret having made the reservation.
We decided to go there as we had a gift card and celebrated a late anniversary with a nice dinner. Locationwise the restaurant is fantastic and has a lot of potential. The starters were enjoyable and nice. Particularly the mushroom linguine, although it was spagetthi more so then linguine. The main course we got a John Dory entire fish to share. Presentation was unpleasant. It looked as though someone used a sledgehammer to seperate the meat from the rest, creating a large gap. It is not the easiest fish to dish up looking pleasant as a whole but I wish I had taken a picture as it looked simply messy. The meat itself was very nicely cooked and had a a simple but good taste, the capsicum spread alongside is a bit overpowering for my preference when served with fish. We got surprised as we were deciding on what desert to get with a compliment of the house desert wishing us a happy anniversary. A very nice and attentive touch. Service was slow yet servers were very nice (wait staff was attentive and tried their best, despite it being obvious they were understaffed, always polite and helpful). It was rather obvious though that there was not enough staff on which was surprising to me given the reputation this restaurant seems to have in Auckland. All in all I expected more after hearing a lot about it being one of Aucklands best restaurants. It is a nice restaurant but nothing out of the ordinary aside for the location.
Service was competent but not very friendly. The guy on the desk was more interested in the computer/phone than greeting or farewelling guests.
