About Harbour House (Constantia)
Harbour House Constantia Nek has given an iconic destination restaurant a new lease on life. A sophisticated, light space with views over the verdant Constantia Valley, that can seat 80-100 people. It’s the oldest wine producing region in Africa, dating back to 1685, and is home to many award-winning wine farms.
The décor is simple and understated keeping the original form and structure of the Heritage building. White interiors with rustic stone walls, floors and herringbone brick work to simply amplify the original space. The modern twist on the riempie chairs also echo a South African heritage. The bar houses a gorgeous oversized wine fridge to highlight a fine selection of local wines.
Enjoy the peaceful beauty and commanding views of the rolling Constantiaberg mountain range from the wall-to-ceiling windows opening onto a herb garden which supplies the kitchen.
It would be the perfect venue for small weddings, corporate functions or international tour groups looking for casual fine dining.
Afternoon Tea is available Monday - Saturday (2pm - 5pm)
we waited for 2.5 hours for the first food to arrive, and the last came 3 hours late. they were short one sushi chef and forgot to tell us until it was too late. last time we were there we were served a lukewarm soup. we have been there ten times, the other times were fine. we hope they will get their act together. the place deserves it.
Fantastic waitress and food!
It took about 45 min to order a bottle of wine after we as our waiter didn't think that a group of chatting people could be interrupted to offer drinks. We had to keep looking around for him to take our food orders, bring more water/wine, bring the bill. Poor service but excellent food.
Sehr schönes Seafood-Restaurant mit tollem Service. Wer keinen Fisch mag, wird nebenan in der Tapas-Bar fündig, beide Restaurants sind miteinander verbunden.
The restaurant was fantastic and the food was great. There was a very large party (+-40 people) in the restaurant at the same time as us which definitely affected the atmosphere a little. The staff were fantastic and the large party in no way impacted on the food or the service. We had a great evening.
Another amazing Harbour House experience. Excellent food, beautiful setting....loved it. Views over Constantia are wonderful, and the atmosphere great. Waiters very friendly, and we had the best mussels ever!!! Well done, we'll be back.
The service was great and the food was cooked to perfection and presented well. Only negative I have is that when I made the online booking I said that it was my partners birthday and I gave her name. I had hoped they would put some kind of Birthday message on her desert plate or something along those lines.
We had a great time and appreciate the special care and attention given by our lead waitress and the manageress. Kudos ladies.
Great restaurant with good food , atmosphere and view
The food was delicious and the service excellent!
My husband and I had a lovely evening at your restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was great. Avron was our waiter and he was very friendly and very helpful. Your restaurant will be recommended to our friends. Thanks
Love the fact that you have sorted out the acoustics!
The service was excellent. Starter and Desserts were delicious. The main meals weren't prepared as well as would have liked.
Stunning night views and good atmosphere.
Excellent food, slow service and expensive
Need to pay attention to detail. Finding a vein in my crayfish - not cool
Booking was well handled, waiter (Ernest) attentive and helpful. The restaurant unfortunately smelt of fish - vents or air con need to be looked at (fish smell most offputting). Wine prices high, a la carte menu expensive as well - we had the winter special. BUT disappointing - no yellowtail available only hake or kingklip; panna cotta dessert not available on set menu either; and then no soup spoons!!! The staff kindly wished my husband a happy birthday which was sweet of them. Sadly we felt it was unacceptable to run out of menu items, especially when we had booked well ahead of time so management knew how many people to expect... Fishy smell also needs to be dealt with. You are going to have to up the game from a management side if you want to keep local visitors loyal...
The food was superb. The grilled calamari starter was really excellent, and I can safely say that I have never had a better piece of yellowtail than I ate at Harbour House. Service was very good, too. From a food perspective, the only disappointment was the the panacotta, which was overcooked and way too firm. This is the second fantastic meal that I have eaten there (first time--peri peri prawns).
Excellent evening - great food in a wonderful setting
It was quite pleasant
I booked online and chose the Winter menu which is normally only available during week days or advanced booking. But due to system issues, the staff cannot seem to see our option. However, they were so accommodating that they honoured the menu to us. Such great value for 3 course + a glass of wine! We were so full that we couldn’t walk out without waddling. The restaurant even made an effort to add extra decoration to my mother’s dessert as we were there celebrating her birthday. What more can I say! AMAZING FOOD, AMAZING SERVICE and AMAZING VIEW!!! Happy mom = Happy family. Thank you, we will definitely come back again. *Maybe try and fix the issue with online booking :)
Service started off well however as the restaurant became busier the service levels dropped slightly and our waiter was not as available. We felt that the food was very flavorful however slightly overpriced based on the size of the helping.
Always a good experience with great food ambiance etc, nice to see that the Winter specials are not sized as 'specials' and that its the same standard as the 'non special' menu, we did however initially feel a bit rushed when we asked for our orders, perhaps when the waiter took the order she could have explained that the food wouldn't come out immediately after each other.
The winter special menu is Cape Town's best kept secret - exceptional!
