About Hammer and Pincers
Owners Sandra & Danny Jimminson were trained at the Savoy Hotel in London and after gaining further experience working in Switzerland, France and other high profile London restaurants, decided to settle close to where Danny grew up on the border of Nottinghamshire & Leicestershire.
We pride ourselves in sourcing some of the finest local ingredients, everything is made in house, We bake a selection of breads daily, make all our own desserts including the ice creams and sorbets, even all our accompaniments, horseradish, mayonnaise, ketchup & chutneys are made freshly on the premises.
Delicious meal friendly relaxed atmosphere will definitely be back. Thankyou
A very enjoyable Sunday lunch in terms of choice, quality and quantity. Five of our six main coarse plates were virtually completely cleared : the sixth plate was greatly enjoyed!
Food and service was outstanding! Meal was divine and they added a special touch as it was my wife's birthday. Can not fault the place.
Great food and service and worth every penny highly recommended place to eat and relax with friendly unscripted staff and the food is delicious, complements to the chef.
the meals were very nice. need one chicken dish as choice and veg for sides. first time we will visit again with friends. bit hot in the restaurant as was warm day.
Lovely restaurant and atmosphere, really liked the snug/bar area for a pre-drink and selection of gins! The restaurant is laid out well and the waitress service was excellent. We found the menu interesting with a good selection for vegetarians, shame the market selection was sold out and would have been good for this to be mentioned as menus were handed out. When we asked what it had included the manager said he 'wasn't going to tell us'...which was a shame as we may have thought about returning to try this another time! Food was good, and enjoyed the extras (very nice bread and palate cleanser), it was quite 'rich' however and we have probably had just as nice meals recently that were not as expensive.
I had three outstanding courses, better than a recent meal at Hambleton Hall. Despite being on my own, it was a very enjoyable experience
Absolutely loved the pea and crab samosa! Such a refreshing change and brilliantly conceived! Thought the daily special choice was great value for an early meal.
Fabulous food fabulous location fabulous service my favourite restaurant.
Flawless in every aspect.
Excellent meal as usual
As good as always!!
Never fails to more than satisfy our expectations
Lovely atmosphere and fantastic service. What a great place this is I highly recommend. Reason for less than five stars was my main course of beef was quite chewy and not what I expected from fillet but everything else amazing thank you.
Excellent food as usual.
We had a wonderful lunch with you - delicious ingredients, imaginative twists, lovely balanced menu, utterly moreish homemade breads - and we did have more! -and a surprise birthday dessert at the end of the meal. This is my second visit and a first for my friends. We will all be back and everyone I have recommended you to gives rave reviews. Thank you for an excellent experience.
First time at your restaurant. I am not from the area but attended for a business lunch. I thought the food was first class! I absolutely loved the flavours and the presentation was beautiful. I really enjoyed the complimentary bread and biscuits at the end. I would definitely recommend and will return. The only criticism was that the music was a little loud.
Food was delicious, with attentive service.
The choice of starters for Sunday lunch was disappointing as all were rather complex to whet the appetite for a three course meal. We settled for main and dessert.
Really enjoyable Sunday lunch - will definitely be back.
Food and service very good. Cocktails very disappointing.
A wonderful evening, whilst it is pricey we’ve now been back 4 times so it must be value for money.
My family discovered the Hammer and Pincers literally on a pin on the board between Newark on Trent and Leamington Spa. I have met up with my parents at this gem on two occasions this year. Both have been memorable due to the attentiveness of front of house and waitress and the quality of the food. Thankfully an adventurous menu. The small touches , the tastes and that homemade bread board , make for a special occasion. .
It was excellent as usual. We always enjoy our time with you and the food is outstanding.
Daniel you are a genius! your flavour combinations are exquisite, your attention to detail is priceless. Thank you for coming over and talking to us in the garden, was an honour to meet you. We had the pleasure of over hearing a discussion with you and your team team planning, designing, sourcing the next seasons menu and we can’t wait taste this. A lovely casual family run atmosphere where true passion is delivered in every plate.
