About Hammer and Pincers
Owners Sandra & Danny Jimminson were trained at the Savoy Hotel in London and after gaining further experience working in Switzerland, France and other high profile London restaurants, decided to settle close to where Danny grew up on the border of Nottinghamshire & Leicestershire.
We pride ourselves in sourcing some of the finest local ingredients, everything is made in house, We bake a selection of breads daily, make all our own desserts including the ice creams and sorbets, even all our accompaniments, horseradish, mayonnaise, ketchup & chutneys are made freshly on the premises.
Fantastic food really great service and atmosphere
An outstanding experience Already planning a return visit
Tom was an excellent waiter, knowledgable about each of the 7 courses from the tasting menu. A great lunch thankyou
Amazing as usual
Quite simply one of the finest dinners for a ling time Exquisite food so beautifully presented by such lovely staff
A fantastic experience - as always. Food is superb, different to the norm in the best possible way. Staff are great, knowledgeable and attentive. Would recommend 100%
Wow! Truly delicious and visually beautiful plates of perfect food. Each course was a joy and just the right quantity to savour, but not spoil the next course, which we awaited with excitement. My husband chose the wine option and was so glad he did, they complimented the dishes so well and it's a great way to sample some fabulous varieties. The staff were attentive, knowledgable and friendly, the chef's passion is evident in the dishes he produces. We were made to feel very special with a lovely personal happy anniversary message, it's a dining experience we will never forget, can't recommend this restaurant enough.
Always excellent food
Food deserved 5 stars but there was no draught beer available. Hence the 4 stars. Only one other table taken so lacking a bit of atmosphere
Excellent meal and friendly staff
Excellent. First class food and service throughout the entire evening.
Fantastic food and great service.
The food was exceptional as ever and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Only disappointment was the dessert we would have chosen not being available. The food presentation is amazing, we will be back again :)
The Hammer & Pincers team were constantly attentive, the food and drink of the highest standard. We were embraced by the atmosphere and ambiance from the moment we arrived. 5 stars!
I cannot recommend the Hammer and Pincers highly enough. Consistently fantastic food, amazing staff and extremely good value for money. The use of local, top quality produce is to be commended and my family and I believe this is one of the best restaurants in the region.
As usual, a perfect experience with just the right attentiveness from the waiting staff and a superb meal. Individual ingredients kept their own unique flavours and made each dish an adventure for the taste buds. We’re going again for the New Years Eve Tasting Menu, as we did last year!
We have visited several times for lunch- always delightful food.
We attended for Sunday lunch, all staff members need to have a similar level of training please I think we were attended by a relatively new member of staff and her knowledge was quite limited, and more variety for vegetarians please, it was somewhat limited.....a lovely atmosphere though :)
I have been here many times with my family and we have never been disappointed. The service is excellent, as I’d the food, from the homemade bread to the amazing sorbet they serve as a palate cleanser between courses. I used to feel the desserts were a bit of a low point, but not anymore. They’ve definitely upped their game in this department. The staff are really lovely and we always feel well looked after when we come here. It’s our favourite restaurant in the East Midlands by miles.
These days we only manage to get to your neck of the woods three or four times a year but each time we do we make sure that lunch is at Hammer & Pincers. Your standards are as high as any five star hotel in the major cities in Europe but please keep this quiet as we still want to be able to get a lunchtime table!!
We had the 10 course taster menu and it was lovely, so many delicious dishes. Prepared in a beautiful way that brought delight to each dish. It was hard to choose a favourite. You think you'd be too stuffed or not hungry enough, to be honest it was the right amount, I did feel full by the last course but couldn't stop eating! Staff were friendly and efficient. We had a very enjoyable evening, thank you.
Excellent from start to finnish
Excellent as always Thanks Danny, Richard & gang
Absolutely fantastic as always! Consistently great!
