Around 1760, Stewart Hadskis opened an iron foundry in Commercial Court. He made pots and pans as well as other implements. The business was carried on by the Hadskis family until 1798. In keeping with the rich history of the building, a new restaurant will be opening in October 2013. We hope you will pay us a visit when we open to enjoy this new dining experience in the Cathedral Quarter, Belfast.
We will certainly be back after a lovely evening of great food, company and wine.
I had a starter of Jerusalem artichokes which were totally tasteless followed, after a long wait, by plaice which was fine, but served with a thimbleful of dried out overcooked or maybe reheated chips! I won't be returning. The meal at £120 for three people was overpriced and poor value for money given the poor quality of the food and service.
Was underwhelmed by my visit to Hadskis as I had heard from friends that they had lovley dinners here. It took a waiter 30 minutes to take our drinks order so they took both the food orders and drinks together. The food was fine nothing special. Parma ham and gigs and chowder for starters where nice. I had the mushroom pasta which was huge half to size would have been perfect and my partner had the ox cheek risotto which was very fatty and seemed like it had been sitting out for awhile. Pavlova for dessert was lovely. Probably won’t be back.
Lovely venue and food
I had a very good meal but my partners meal was disappointing. Price was standard and service was excellent. Tables very close together and very conscious neighbours could listen to conversations. This restaurant great location great potential just needs a few tweeks! Would be happy to give it another go!😊😊
A true treat and first class dining experience. The menu is exciting and the delivery does not disappoint. The service is also excellent welcoming and friendly.
Loved my lunch here with a friend . Staff are very friendly and helpful . Food was delicious , can’t wait to come back .
The service was a bit slow
Fantastic food will be back
Was my 40th birthday meal with my wife. Waited an inordinate amount of time between our starters and mains. When my main arrived the steak was over cooked and the chips were lukewarm. Our table was booked for 9:15pm but it was almost 10:30 by the time our main arrived. The poor standard of food and service were acknowledged by the waiter. I was disappointed as I’ve eaten in James St South Bar and Grill and the service has been great. With plenty other options in Belfast in this price range and style of food I won’t be returning to Hadskis anytime soon.
Food was fantastic, staff were great. Thought the service charge was high though
Amazing service and unbelievable food! Always a must when in belfast 😊 The chateaubriand was out of this world
Fantastic venue, excellent staff, I would highly recommend Peter Hannan's Chateaubriand.
Very bad acoustics, difficult hearing each other. There were only few customers in the restaurant, but waiting staff was unattentive and forgot part of our drinks order etc.
The waiters were quite arrogant except for one. The service was quite poor and we had to keep asking for wine that had been ordered, yet we were asked three times if we wanted water. We were very disappointed that one of us could not have the Monday special menu if the other one with having the à la cart. We could not see any reason for this as it was not 5/7 course tasting menu. the restaurant was a mixture of both the special Monday menu and a la cart so what was the problem in one table beeing mixed.
Cant fault the place, food amazing and customer service is outstanding. We went for my husbands birthday and he left a happy full man
Nothing to improve on
Every time I go it’s amazing
Unfortunately we had a disappointing evening - which was surprising given all the positive press and reports for your restaurant. Out of the starters - scallops were excellent, squid was average (undercooked, pale), and chowder was poor - too thick. (needed more white wine), no herbs, over seasoned with salt. For our mains - ribeye steak was perfect, the plaice was okay, and oxtail with risotto was a real letdown. The oxtail itself had no accompanying jus or sauce, which is unusual for this cut of meat, a red wine jus would have elevated this. The risotto was poorly executed, needed longer cooking time, more saffron, and less butter/oil as the plate was swimming in this. It was a busy Friday night for you, but even allowing for that the service was poor - and after a 20 minute wait and several attempts to get attention, I ended up walking up to ask for the bill and pay before leaving. Potentially this could be a one off, but as it stands I was left very unimpressed.
Fantastic meal, fantastic service - couldn't fault anything.
Lovely service, atmosphere and food. My friends and I had a good time and will certainly be back for more! Thanks!
Girls evening out..... great food, service and gin! Staff all very friendly
I always give at least a 10% tip when eating out. But on this occasion the choice was already made for me when the bill arrived. I can understand with a table of six or more adding this automatically but for a table for two I think there should be an option.
We were in around 5 so it was fairly quiet. I had let the restaurant know In advance that my wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and on arrival we were treated to some very nice sparkling wine. Food was great, I would definitely go back.
Michael was a great host. I was a bit worried it would be quiet on a Monday evening. We were there from 5pm until shortly after 8 and the atmosphere we super. Great value and food was yummy. Thanks JT
