Service was outstanding and the food was delicious. The perfect birthday treat!!
On last Sunday, My wife and I had a lunch with our family and friends to celebrate our diamond wedding anniversary. Having made the original arrangements, table plans, seating arrangements etc, we had very last minute cancellations which upset everything. Your manager, Andrew, and his staff dealt with the situation with true professionalism so that none of our guests realised the earlier problems, and despite the fact that no one had preordered their meal, the courses were served promptly. The service was excellent throughout. There were good choices on the food menu and the wines and champagne selected by the manager did not disappoint. A nice atmosphere prevailed in the Gilbert’s restaurant which made the lunch a big success. Several of my family have made contact since Sunday to express their complete enjoyment at the experience. We shall be back. B
A beautiful place to escape and relax with a welcoming atmosphere.
We had booked a table for 100th birthday, not exactly an everyday occurrence. We had mentioned the occasion when booking. When we arrived we were put on 2 tables. This rather defeated the object of the outing. We wanted everyone to be able to sit with, and talk to, the person whose birthday it was. There was a table of 12 for a 90th birthday so a large table is possible. We had not been told before hand that one large table was not possible and when we told staff that we were not happy with the arrangement, no effort was made to remedy the situation.
Restaurant staff were very helpful and extremely polite when we requested a change to the seating arrangement for our large group. Despite the group being a large one meals were served on time to all of the group. The waitress who dealt with payment for our meals was wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful. We all had a fantastic time and will definitely use The Grimsdyke again for another of our reunion functions.
Irish lady who served us was absolutely lovely, professional and her customer service was excellent. Actually every time I have been to the hotel her service has been the same. A great ambassador for the hotel. Food was excellent.
Absolutely magical surroundings great food. A little gem . Thank you so much. Please never change!
We had afternoon tea to celebrate our Mum's 84th, we all enjoyed the day and loved being in the morning room.
We went on a quiet Sunday evening service is excellent, food delicious - 3 courses for £25 great value. Would definitely recommend
Very nice visit, will definitely be be back
It was nice resonable lunch.
mr hand has died
Delicious food at a reasonable price, excellent service and a very pleasant atmosphere in Gilbert's Restaurant. Thank you.
A delightful meal in a very pleasant atmosphere.
The one thing which spoiled our lunch was the state of the car park which was positively dangerous. We both use walking aids and both our sticks and feet were sliding all over the place. I appreciate that it is difficult to clear such a large area but surely it would have been possible to clear a single path to the restaurant to avoid the risk of injury David
I requested around table by email. nobody replied to my email. I arrived at 12.10 to sort out seating plan but was told to sit in lobby till 12.30.Poor welcome! Service was poor, water was not refilled, I had to keep asking to pour the wine. the turkey was microwaved and plum pudding over done so it was hard. this was a shame . I am head of Nursery school and it could have been an ideal place for our annual lunch.
Our waitress Ann was very charming and attentive. You could see she really enjoyed working at The Grimsdyke.
once again, the 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our lunch with you - thank you
the service was attentive & friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant, very subdued, only 3-4 tables occupied for the 2 course, special offer lunch. we chose from the special menu,my terrine was very filling with nice sharp pickle! generous portions. main course chicken schnitzel with "Jenga"size chips tasty too. My friend enjoyed both meal & surroundings
Food is excellent as are the staff. Very friendly and helpfull
Absolutely perfect in every way, especially the food! The gardeners need praise too as the gardens are amazing, especially for this time of year.
The staff were very attentive, couldn't be faulted.
Excellent meal with good menu choice. Very pleasant ambience within the restaurant and stunning location of the hotel/restaurant. Good service with attentive but not overbearing staff. Look forward to visiting again.
Everything was excellent although I personally prefer a somewhat more traditional/substantial main course to the essentially Nouvelle Cuisine that was provided.
