About Grims Dyke Hotel
Our award winning kitchen offers exceptional dining using only quality ingredients sourced locally and from our kitchen gardens whenever possible.
All our food is freshly prepared and whether you are dining in our Gilbert’s Restaurant, Library Bar,enjoying an Afternoon Cream Tea in the Drawing Room, or dining on our terrace, expect a modern outlook on classical food with a commitment to quality ingredients and depth of flavour. For us, great food is not just about accolades, it is about consistently producing fabulous food from the best ingredients.
Always efficient and friendly service with a willingness to make changes to accompaniments on main courses.
3 of my guests of a party of 5 ordered sirloin steaks but the restaurant only had 2, these were asked to be cooked medium and yet both were served well done and over cooked. These were sent back which meant now there were no sirloin, instead butterfly fillets were served which again were over cooked and well done. How any decent chef could possibly cook 4 steaks wrong is beyond me. It was very embarrassing to my Oriental/Asia colleagues. Location and service was excellent but the chef a disaster. The Manager did not charge for the 2 wrong steak meals but the damage was done and we ended an early evening meal promptly. Would not recommend for business meals.
A lovely experience. Thank you
The staff were fantastic! They were extremely helpful as well as knowledgeable. The food was excellent, we will definitely be back.
my friend and I had an enjoyable time.... she especially enjoyed the garden.... just a pity we were a little too late for the roses !
We had a wonderful experience for our colleagues leaving do. The service was faultless and the cream tea was excellent value for money. Many thanks.
The afternoon tea was vey nice but I did think the sandwiches could have been a little more delicate instead of a large slice of bread with smoked salmon on, and a roll with something in but could not decide what. The rolled up one with cucumber was very stringy . Scones and cake were good. Plenty of tea kept coming.
We were very unhappy with the service and food. Firstly you tried to put us in the dark and dingy alcove of the fireplace, then next to a large loud crowd. Finally we were placed in a room off the bar. The cream cheese and cucumber sandwich had no cheese and soggy cucumber. The smoked salmon and cream cheese only had a small piped blob of cheese on top, clearly, you had run out of cream cheese and the egg mayonnaise could not be found in middle of the bun, just a little spread around the edge. The jam and cream pots had just been refilled from previous use and not washed in between. There was a Jammie finger print on the outside of the cream pot. We were totally ignored apart from staff peering at us from the doorway and we had to go to the bar and request more tea. But as soon at it was time to pay, we had the attention of 3 members of staff. A very disappointing visit that we would not want to repeat and will advise our friends to avoid at all costs.
The staff are fantastic, friendly and VERY helpful. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Lovely atmosphere and surroundings, beautiful grounds and building.
What a haven of tranquility. No music and excellent food in this delightful place. Cosmin waited on us to perfection. Afterwards a walk in the superb grounds completed a perfect day. Look forward to our next visit
Very Good and service was good
My only comment on an otherwise wonderful lunch was the vegan option. I have found increasingly that it is assumed that vegans like quite spicy food so I (and the other vegan) found the sauce only just on the side of bearable. Also why don't vegans qualify for protein in their food - tofu or beans or nuts etc? I'm just making this comment for your future vegan diners. Thank you.
Catered for everyone’s allergies very well!
Excellent service, and well-positioned table with a superb view of the gardens. The food was elegantly presented. I did find my curry dish was a little too spicy but that did not detract from a very enjoyable evening.
The cream tea was lovely and then a sit in the garden, in the sunshine, topped it off. The birthday girl (96) thoroughly enjoyed her afternoon.
Very nice meal, great service somewhat marred by multiple mistakes with final bill.
the grounds are fabulous, the main house is looking a little tired, however beautiful. service and food where excellent, however more vegetarian and vegan food would be a great addition. overall i will and have recommended, we enjoyed a lovely break.
Service was outstanding and the food was delicious. The perfect birthday treat!!
On last Sunday, My wife and I had a lunch with our family and friends to celebrate our diamond wedding anniversary. Having made the original arrangements, table plans, seating arrangements etc, we had very last minute cancellations which upset everything. Your manager, Andrew, and his staff dealt with the situation with true professionalism so that none of our guests realised the earlier problems, and despite the fact that no one had preordered their meal, the courses were served promptly. The service was excellent throughout. There were good choices on the food menu and the wines and champagne selected by the manager did not disappoint. A nice atmosphere prevailed in the Gilbert’s restaurant which made the lunch a big success. Several of my family have made contact since Sunday to express their complete enjoyment at the experience. We shall be back. B
A beautiful place to escape and relax with a welcoming atmosphere.
We had booked a table for 100th birthday, not exactly an everyday occurrence. We had mentioned the occasion when booking. When we arrived we were put on 2 tables. This rather defeated the object of the outing. We wanted everyone to be able to sit with, and talk to, the person whose birthday it was. There was a table of 12 for a 90th birthday so a large table is possible. We had not been told before hand that one large table was not possible and when we told staff that we were not happy with the arrangement, no effort was made to remedy the situation.
Restaurant staff were very helpful and extremely polite when we requested a change to the seating arrangement for our large group. Despite the group being a large one meals were served on time to all of the group. The waitress who dealt with payment for our meals was wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful. We all had a fantastic time and will definitely use The Grimsdyke again for another of our reunion functions.
Irish lady who served us was absolutely lovely, professional and her customer service was excellent. Actually every time I have been to the hotel her service has been the same. A great ambassador for the hotel. Food was excellent.
Absolutely magical surroundings great food. A little gem . Thank you so much. Please never change!
We had afternoon tea to celebrate our Mum's 84th, we all enjoyed the day and loved being in the morning room.
