We enjoy coming to Greyfriars for lunch. It is a shame more people don’t use this lovely restaurant.
Very surprised that you had run out of Prosecco but the alternative rose sparkling we had was very nice. A nice afternoon tea with a very dear long-standing friend thank you.
The most wonderful place and unrivalled by anywhere in Colchester!
we all enjoyed our evening out, even though we had to sit outside in cold weather. It was nice to catch with friends, in a nice environment. A welcome change in difficult times. Thank-you. Kim, Daniel, Chris and Bryan.
Lovely afternoon tea in a beautiful setting. This was our third visit, all of which we have enjoyed.
Our first stay but certainly not our last.Hotel clean, well located for town centre and spacious free car park.Food and service 1st rate.Staff extremely friendly and helpful.
The Romance package was a wonderful way to celebrate my wife's birthday and was the highlight of the year. Service, food and the room were all perfect from the moment we arrived until we left. A bright star in these strange times. We look forward to our next visit.
Stayed here for our wedding night. Food was beautiful, room 17 was amazing. Will definitely re-visit for an anniversary
We had booked a meeting room for Friends of Castle Park Committee meeting and as always were met with friendly efficiency. The room was Covid secure and very adequately met our needs.
We had a lovely time and were able to celebrate our daughters wedding which previously had been postponed twice due to the pandemic and was rescheduled at the last minute before the country went back into lockdown. We can't thankyou enough as we all had a great time.
We sat out On the terrace and we had to share a heater with another table ... when we asked if we could move tables we were told all were reserved , food was good ... tea did not stay warm ... maybe invest in more heaters and a old fashioned tea cosy !!!
I would have liked to have seen a vegan option on the menu.
Rose and lemon martini was amazing. Highly recommend, just don’t like being seated, left and then looking around to to get staff attention to order pre dinner drink. However food and drink did not disappoint !!
Very efficient and professional and enjoyable
Afternoon tea was lovely and the service was excellent
A lovely evening - despite the restrictions we were made to feel welcome and cared for . Great cocktails and good service
We had a lovely brunch, we felt very relaxed and looked after. The young lady who served us was lovely too. Looking forward to our next visit!
Great attention to detail and always feels like a treat 🍸🧡
Amazing food.staff couldn’t have done enough to make sure we where happy.thankyou for an amusing evening in these strange times.x
Great as always.
Amazing service by our waiter. Absolutely first class.
Lovely food, if a little pricey but tasty! Service ok, but a little slow, all in all a good atmosphere for dinning
It was a shame that the outside heating wasn’t working due to waiting for a gas delivery - it turned up just as we were leaving. But as always, a nice setting to meet up with a friend.
Excellent venue, second time we visited the restaurant and absolutely delicious food. And this time we also got lucky enough to stay in the hotel with the romance package 😊 Thank you for your lovely hospitality
Overall we had an enjoyable experience at Greyfriars Terrace - the table was sheltered from the rain and there were plenty of patio heaters which ensured we were warm even though we were sat outside on a rainy evening at the end of October. The drinks were delicious, we enjoyed sampling the cocktails especially from the comprehensive martini menu. Unfortunately the experience was let down somewhat by the food - we both ordered the rump steak medium rare: what arrived for us both was a lovely cut of steak which had disappointingly been served blue. It was seared on the outside but still cold in the middle. When we were asked how the food was we said the steak was under cooked and they took it away to put the steaks back on the grill again. When they came back they were slightly warmer on the outside but still blue and for us not edible. Greyfriars did acknowledge this and offered to comp us a desert, which we declined, so they instead took a small amount off of our bill. I would go back to Greyfriars terrace again as it was a lovely setting, but probably only for drinks.
