The food and staff were both excellent. Our waitress was really attentive and engaging. My daughter and I enjoyed a lovely lunch on the terrace in the sunshine.
Had a lovely lounge afternoon tea on the terrace. Service was good, food was lovely. Very pleased
The service was exceptional and the food was amazing. It was our 10 year wedding anniversary and we couldn’t have wished for a lovelier evening sat by a heater eating delicious food and enjoying each other’s company. 5* all round. Thanks.
I booked a table for coffee with friends, the young girl on reception was welcoming and very efficient, she arranged for us to be shown to our table, the staff were exemplary-temperatures taken, showed us the form to fill out with our details, order taken, we had a lovely time, so much so we went back in the afternoon for drinks....we had the best time Thank you!!
Lovely atmosphere out in the back garden on a Sunday afternoon.
Excellent service. Beautiful ambiance. I will definitely be coming back again for a nice meal.
Food is always amazing! Defiantly recommend!
Honestly the perfect afternoon tea we will 10000% be back!!!
Easy to book, accommodating of requests, attentive table service throughout, really nice surprise birthday addition at the end of the meal too. Thanks!
Thoroughly enjoyed my evening!! While I understand the time limits on tables, would have liked to be there longer!! Will definitely return!
Really friendly, attentive and helpful staff, and the lounge teas were delicous. Thank you for a lovely afternoon!
The waiting staff did extremely well, providing excellent service on the Terrace in awful weather conditions. Thank you
Lovely meal and drinks, we sat outside due to current restrictions with high winds and rain. But we were well looked after, and the food was delicious!
Brilliant evening, perfect service, amazing food and a huge selection of perfectly made cocktails. Couldn’t be faulted
Service very good and sticky toffee pudding was amazing
Always have a great time at Greyfriars, food and drinks are always perfect and staff are very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a nice meal and some great cocktails.
Greyfriars is a Colchester gem. We have visited several times before and always had a good experience there. This was the first visit since the last lockdown and we ate outside. There is nothing about our visit that I could fault. (Tip, the Verger Martini is superb!)
It was very chilly and windy and it would have been appreciated if staff had offered to light the heaters. We only realised they were available just as we were leaving
Always a pleasure to dine out at greyfriars, can’t fault the food, drinks, service, or value. Luis head barman is a gem always goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is well looked after...
Very nice lunch on the terrace, slightly disappointed by the vegetarian choice as when I looked on line there was a Mushroom wellington, however on the actual menu it was a stuffed courgette or risotto. Very good service and lots of heaters, which helped on a chilly day.
Lovely staff with everyone doing things as best they can in the current circumstances. Whilst the outside dining experience on the terrace in May was a rather chilly affair, we still enjoyed the surroundings and again, the staff were superb. We particularly like Juan, our Spanish waiter who was friendly yet very professional too. He had a great way of convincing me to try a deserts!
We were placed in the shade with a 1 y/o baby at a time when it’s not particularly warm in the shade infact it’s very cold I asked 3 times to swap to empty tables in the sun before we were moved eventually Unhappy it took 3 requests to move from the cold into a warmer area with a baby We get that they are limited to space but all they needed to do was work out which table had the same number of seats and accommodate Today we specifically asked when booking to be placed in the sun and even though there were other tables of the same size on reserve where ppl hadn’t arrived they were going to place us with a baby in the shade We left as we were unhappy with the service We have been coming to greyfriars for years and the management have severely let us down
Mushroom starter not the best but club sandwich very generous. Would have liked a few more chips thought. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back
