Our turkey Sunday lunch was excellent as was the Marstons Pedigree. Will definitely come again 😀👍
Worth the day out from London. Very kind to my elderly Mum.
We were made so welcome we have booked our next meal there. Perfect for pre cinema as The Odyssey is next door. See you soon Great Northern!
We had a delicious Sunday lunch here with extended family, food was great, service was excellent. We will be back soon.
Brilliant pre-cinema burger!! All the food is good but we think the house cheeseburger is the best - homemade and not over cooked. Excellent and very friendly service as well.
What a find! superb burgers and a really good wine list - and great service too - really friendly atmosphere. We will definitely come again and we have been spreading the word!
We enjoyed the main courses we had but found the dessert choices slightly strange and therefore didn't have any. Would have liked to see a crumble or pie or traditional pudding with custard.
Fab Sunday roast with a great wine list and incredibly friendly service. My rare roast beef was delicious and the trimmings were all nicely cooked with great flavour. First time visitor but will definitely be returning.
We felt menu was a bit limited. We don’t eat meat and were hoping to get the fish cakes which we had seen on the online menu but they weren’t on that night. However, the food we ordered was very tasty and the chips were fab. Service was a bit slow at the beginning but improved and the waitresses were both very friendly. It was very convenient location for the cinema and with the 20% discount it was good value for money.
It was nice to see that the Great Northern has not closed down or turned into something else. The food was good the service was very good but the surroundings let it down. The garden is s little scruffy and the toilets could do with some attention although very clean.
Great place to go pre or post cinema or on way back from station - done such a good job on refurb many thanks to all excellent service
Lovely meal very pleased
Dessert menu particularly disappointing , strange choice ice cream carrot cake or cinnamon toast
We often come for a meal before the cinema and we always have a great meal. The menu is short but always includes a burger. There are gluten free options.
I have emailed you separately regarding the poor choice of vegetarian options/ lack of menu changes. Otherwise, great pub
Sunday lunch - roast beef and lamb very nice, best-cooked carrots I've ever eaten, cauliflower cheese rather bland (was the cheese forgotten?!). Chocolate ganache - rather strange dish and not value for money. Excellent choice of beers, well kept and presented. Very friendly and efficient service. Bit chilly where we were sitting - maybe turn the heating on a little earlier on cold days.
Food was really simple, and not tasty with regret. We went for a Sunday roast and the beef tasted like the pans it had been cooked in had just been washed with strong chemical cleaner which came through on the beef. I couldn't eat it. Other members of the party had chicken which was dry and very small portion. There was one lady who was serving everyone who I felt for as she did need some assistance. The cost was £145 for 4 adults, 4 small children. we had 2 drinks only and only 4 starters (which were terrible). Extremely overpriced - no quality as the site had outlined.
Fantastic food and very attentive service
Excellent everything thank you again!!
A lovely welcoming pub with a restaurant space that feels part of it and serves good fresh food, lovely real ale and a strong wine list.
On a bitterly cold evening we received a very warm welcome and enjoyed a lovely pre-cinema dinner!
We really enjoyed our roast dinner and the service was friendly. There was quite a wait for food and there was a mix-up between our order and someone else's which was a shame. We did have the price of desserts taken off the bill which I think was a fair compensation. I would return and hope that we just got unlucky on this occasion!
Nice meal, we love the pre cinema deal. Ran out of the veggie option, and whilst the ad hoc alternative was very nice, it would definitely be good to see some more vegetarian variety on the menu. It never seems to change from being gnocchi. Other local pubs are currently offering a whole vegan menu. Just a thought, we enjoyed the meal
Unfortunately I cannot comment on the food as I never got any!Ordered Chicken and was brought fish in error, then too late to wait for the correct dish to be cooked, Whilst the waitress was very pleasant, there were only 2 of us so not quite sure how chicken became fish?
