Absolutely stunning place. The afternoon tea was simply perfect.
Excellent in difficult conditions
Excellent food and good service
What a wonderful first experience after lockdown, made even better by the excellent friendly service. So great to see Ellenborough Park open again .
Excellent service, Jonathan was brilliant. All staff were approachable & chatty which was great. Atmosphere was immense & the pianist was amazing xx
A very pleasant afternoon was spent with you. It was my birthday and I was made to feel special.
Lovely festive afternoon tea. Complimentary mulled wine was a treat at the start followed by a gorgeous afternoon tea spread! Thank you for letting us have a great experience after a difficult year. We will definitely be back!
Had an absolutely amazing time for afternoon tea, the service was so good and really friendly. Will 100% be coming back in the future.
The room and service was lovely. The food was a little disappointing. Not an option for children. Doughy scones. Nothing special considering the cost! Were not offered the complimentary mulled wine.
Fantastic reception. Welcoming and good service.
The service was good, friendly and polite. The food was average, certainly not mind-blowing, and it is extremely expensive for what it is.
Wonderful Afternoon tea !! Beautiful building and very helpful staff
We booked for our daughters 21st birthday Very overpriced for very average bland food, majority of cakes were very mediocre Service was really slow and the staff were not the most friendly. It cost over £155 pounds for four afternoon teas that was definitely not the experience I had been expecting for our celebrations Would not recommend to any of my friends Cathy
Beautiful cosy setting, delicious seasonal cream tea and excellent service from Jonathan, we loved it and are looking forward to coming back.
As always wonderful all round Thank you
Our waiter was fantastic. He was attentive, helpful, efficient and friendly. Brilliant! The tea was lovely and we took away a doggy bag as couldn’t finish it all. The whole occasion was a memorable experience and the hotel looked really cosy and festive. Beautifully decorated. Thank you!
We had the most lovely afternoon tea in the great hall - tucked away in a cosy snug it was private and relaxed, served by Jonathon who was delightful and very knowledgeable, without asking they altered my sandwiches to be pregnancy safe which was very kind so I didn’t have to give half to my husband! Food absolutely delicious, could not fault anything. Excellent value for money especially compared to many of the high class afternoon tea venues in London - this one was far superior.
Huge shoutout to Jonathan who’s service and friendly demeanour really made our stay a great one! A massive asset to Ellenborough Park and should be recognised for his outstanding service!
We previously - several years ago - had afternoon tea in the Great Hall at Ellenborough Park and really enjoyed it. Very sadly, our previous experience was not repeated on this occasion It was extremely disappointing for the following reasons: 1. One wall of the Great Hall has been replaced with a Glass Wall - so you can see guests walking by in their Spa Dressing Gowns. It really spoils the ambiance of the Great Hall 2. Staff were perfectly pleasant but seem to be doing their jobs "by numbers" - without paying proper attention - or thinking about - their "guests" needs. Examples: a. A couple arrived after we had been seated and given the types of Tea menu & were waiting to be served. They were then served before us while we had to continue to wait. b. There should have been one person permanently stationed in the Afternoon Tea area keeping an eye on guests needs. We had to go out to main Reception to ask for more jam. When there were staff present, they seemed to spend all their time on the Til inputting some sort of data. c. We weren't provided with Hot Water when the Tea was brought to us - we had to ask for this. d. We had to ask for two additional pots of tea - each time having to wait til we could find someone to get this. There should have been someone who would have proactively asked us if we wanted/needed more tea 3. Table and Cups The tea cups provided are industrial canteen-type very thick and very small. Presumably to minimise breakages. They should have been good quality bone china. The table we sat at had a staggered edged under the tablecloth - which meant things tipped if they were placed by the edge of the table. 4. Quality of Food Finger sandwiches. The bread was dry - it had been left out before being served. The bread was too thick & and there was very little filling and butter in each. This simply came across as being very "mean" and that the venue was seeking to spend as little as possible on their sandwiches. The scones were nice - but there wasn't enough jam and the clotted cream was to hard to spread easily. The Assam tea was very good Overall the cakes were a good quality. The "doggy bags" provided to take away uneaten food are a definite plus. SUMMARY The impression we were left with was that Afternoon Tea - at £28 each - is part of a business model - and a "cash cow". The sense you get is that management's view is that, to turn a good profit, you only need a few sandwiches & cakes and a nice room and you don't need to do much more. Management at the hotel need to take a hard look at how their staff interact with customers. Standards fell woefully short of what one would expect of a Luxury Resort. Our lasting impression is of the Industrial strength, very thick small tea cups. It seems customers can't be trusted with proper bone china teacups.
We stayed at Ellenborough for my partners 50th Birthday so a special celebration. The place the staff (especially Jonathan who served us Afternoon Tea and Breakfast) was just amazing however the food on the evening in the horsebox restaurant and breakfast was lack lustre and tepid in warmth. Dinner was extremely disappointing. The afternoon tea was lovely though and highly recommended.
Jonathan looked after us and he did a fab job. The afternoon tea was delicious, it was a nice relaxing afternoon.
We came as a family for Afternoon Tea and really enjoyed ourselves and loved the whole experience. The children then loved playing chess outside and playing on the huge swing afterwards!
Lovely afternoon tea. Fantastic service from all staff members.
A real treat, beautiful surroundings, delicious food. I can't wait to book another afternoon tea with you!
Lovely afternoon tea. Very expensive for what there was but nicely presented and tasted very good.
