About Grand Central Hotel - Seahorse Restaurant
Hastings Grand Central is more than a hotel. It’s an ode to a city. Standing tall in Bedford Street, this impressive jewel fuses glamour and grandeur with a uniquely Belfast spirit. Perfectly placed in Belfast City. Just as Belfast is at the heart of the Grand Central, the Grand Central is at the heart of Belfast. Set in the up and coming Linen Quarter, the hotel is a spectacular hub for exploring Titanic Quarter’s history or Cathedral Quarter’s charming cobbled streets, pubs and eateries. Theatre buffs, shopaholics and historians alike will all be spoiled for choice, with a host of options right on their doorstep. Conveniently located for all transport access, the Grand Central is perfectly placed for every city centre endeavour – from business to leisure and everything in between.
This is one exquisite venue with three distinct spaces. Quality exudes from every angle – from the phenomenal cuisine and cocktails to the lavish fabrics and fittings. The art deco nods, high ceilings and sense of space add a distinctive drama – and the vibe inside shifts as the day rolls in and the sun rolls round. The restaurant and bar feel bright at breakfast and mesmerisingly dreamy of an evening. And this is the Seahorse’s real allure, it’s a destination with multiple moods – the perfect backdrop for sumptuous afternoon tea or delicious dining and fine wines.
Look forward to coming back!
Bit disappointing that the Guinness bread didn't arrive with the soup and even though staff seemed to notice this, we had to ask for the bread. Other than that our food was enjoyable & reasonably priced for a city centre hotel. The booking was made with the emphasis being my daughter's 21st birthday, however staff did not seem aware of this.
Nice meal and drinks , Restaurant service and food 1st class ,Observatory bar service was bit slow , but was busy all and good experience and will be back
All the staff were amazing especially Chloe.
We had dinner at the Seahorse for our 2nd wedding anniversary and I can honestly say if you told me I had to back every year and have the exact same meal for the next 50 anniversaries I'd be happy enough. We both had the fillet steak which was amazing and then I had the home made vanilla ice cream with honeycomb which although doesn't sound as exciting as some of the other desserts on the menu I can promise you it was unreal, you will not be dissapointed. I would definitely recommend the restaurant even if you are not staying in the hotel it is worth giving it a try if looking for somewhere new in Belfast.
Excellent setting, service and food
Great food and fantastic staff
Fantastic Christmas Day at The Grand Central Hotel Belfast. There were six in our group and it was a first visit for us all. Everything was brilliant and the staff could not have done enough for us. Food, Atmosphere, Service and value for money get top marks from us all. Will be returning to the hotel sooner rather than later and will be booking for next year. Thank you to all the staff who worked on Christmas Day and helped make our day fabulous.
Myself and a friend booked the Seahorse Restaurant on the evening of Boxing Day for dinner. It was our first time in the Grand Central and on entering the building it reminded us of a hotel we had visited in New York, very cosmopolitan. We had pre dinner drinks in the lounge bar which was comfortable and had a relaxing ambience. The dinner was very good, presented and served well with no long delays between courses. The staff were extremely courteous and friendly and provided an efficient service, not just in the Seahorse but throughout the hotel. Well done. Our only minor criticism was the very bright lighting in the Seahorse, a more subdued lighting would have been perfect, more relaxing.
A very enjoyable meal . Clearly the chef and his team are very talented. The room was a little noisy at first, but then it was Boxing Day after all!
Excellent Christmas day lunch
Brilliant family time had by all. One of, if not the best, steak sandwich I've ever had. Delicious! Kids menu was varried and suitable for all three children. Thank you all.
Great service... lovely venue
Nobody at restaurant reception when we arrived! Waited several minutes! Very disappointed in limited menu selection! We expected to have a full a la carte choice of meals rather than a couple of starters and a couple of mains on a "christmas" menu! The starters all appeared pre made! Waitress did not suggest any side dishes, consequently my partner had a small main meal! Atmosphere was stark and soulless. Only 5 other tables in! Actual quality of food was good! The bill was calculated incorrectly twice!
We booked the Seahorse Restaurant and I can't give enough praise for such a lovely evening we had. The food, service and surroundings were fabulous. The hotel itself is just beautiful and has such a lovely lively atmosphere. The staff were all so friendly and couldn't have done enough for us. I will definitely be making more visits to the Grand Central in the future.
Food amazing ambience wonderful. Staff very attentive and helpful
What a fabulous hotel!!! Food was delicious and the service from each member of staff that we spoke to was oustanding. Can't wait for our next visit 😊
Very helpful and friendly staff, well done to the hasting group. A great experience for my party, even in the middle of the December rush. Would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to an overnight stay , booked later this month
Look forward to visiting again.
Super food in a nice setting.
Grand central restaurant Poor direction to restaurant Mix up with table Lighting too bright Decor nice, modern and rich Wrong tonic with drink - advice wrong Not set server - too many people approaching Confusion about what foods available Conflicting menus - wrong information Not accommodating on sauces for steak Staff generally polite and helpful Beautiful wheaten bread - FOC Starter: Plate hot - very nice Fish cake - lacking fish and flavour Not enough time between courses - 5/10max - rushed l, felt very pressured and restaurant not busy so why? Main: Food miss described - (s) emplies more than one of an item - potatoe(s) Red wine jus - microwave - thick skin Meat fatty in shoulder Sirloin very good - flavour Seasonal veg not as described - threes a crowd kale (broc and bean date ruined) Plates lifted as soon as last mouthful finished Servers not experienced - first job? Lighting now very off putting asked twice to turn down - no ambiance - very bright Cheese cake lovely Cheese board rubbish - bad presentation Drinks taken before finished Bill completely wrong x3 times to get right Inexperience throughout operation Disappointing - 3 STARS Will not recommend
Lovely atmosphere and beautiful hotel Afternoon tea was delicious!!
Few people having afternoon tea so not much atmosphere. We were in the observatory- view wonderful. Girl serving us eas very nice but we had to ask for milk twice and also had to ask for butter and jam- was actually brought lemon curd and jam so had to again ask for butter.
An all round5 star experience.
Two hours between starters and main course. Pretence of restaurant fully booked out while reserving a table! Waiters not trained properly eg bringing coffee before deserts. The only positive was when a member of staff (from Zimbabwe) owning up to the problems and apologising genuinely and offering complimentary deserts. Disappointed as a new hotel should not allow the standards to drop on such obvious etiquette.
