About Grand Central Hotel Glasgow (Tempus)
Tempus Bar & Restaurant, led by award winning head chef Zoltan Szabo offers a completely new dining experience focusing on quality Scottish cuisine with a contemporary twist.
As part of the Hotel’s £20m refurbishment, the space has been transformed into a stylish restaurant featuring beautifully restored original features fused with modern design elements to create a laid back ambience that makes it perfect for any occasion from casual mid week catch ups to glamorous nights on the town.
Before sitting down for dinner, guests can enjoy a leisurely drink in the restaurant’s stylish bar area – a cosy circular den where the walls are adorned with decorative wine bottles – a contemporary design twist which creates an interesting focal point.
The restaurant’s impressive interior features high ceilings, intricate cornicing, stunning chandeliers and a striking mural which references its links to Central station. Two original Italian Murano glass chandeliers, which were restored as part of the Grand Central Hotel’s refurbishment costing £30,000 each, hang from the ceilings adding to the sense of light created by large arched windows while the restaurant’s original pillars enhance its grandeur.

A fab dining experience. Food and service top class.Well done!
We were very disappointed with our booking at the Tempus. The waitress we had on the evening was extremely rude and unhelpful even to the point where she asked for the tip to be left in cash and not be put on the card. The private room we had was beautiful but the service was appalling.
My friend and I enjoyed another meal in the Tempus Restaurant. As always the food was very good with plenty of options to choose from. The staff were friendly and very efficient. I am always recommending this restaurant to my friends and family.
My mum and I dined here Thursday evening and we were both disappointed with our meal. We had a chicken dish and the chicken was so dry and actually rather blandwith very little sauce to accompany it, my potatoes were lovely but my mum had asked to have chips and they very average. I don't think I would ever go back. But the central deli which is part of the hotel has much tastier food.
Booked a table for my grans birthday. Staff were kind enough to place some balloons and sprinkles at table that we had supplied. We ordered our food and it was quick to arrive, however during our starters we ordered some wine which didn't arrive... we got through our mains and still no drinks arrived. We then ordered coffees and aliqueur coffee for my Gran as we knew that she had a birthday cake coming to the table as a surprise. The cake came and was eaten and still no coffee arrived. We asked another member of staff and waited a further 10/15 minutes but it didn't appear. So we had a 2 course meal and birthday cake with no drinks. I then went to pay the bill and the card machine was so busy (staff holding up in the air in the middles of the restaurant) that I was stood quite embarrassed in front of a full restaurant of diners whilst the machine failed 3/4 times before another member of staff was asked to bring down another machine.... it took 6 attempts for payment to be taken... not what I had expected from such a professional hotel. Also, prior to our meal we went to the champagne bar, we ordered cocktails which took 40 minutes to arrive, therefore we had no time to drink them and had to take them with us to the restaurant. The cocktails were lovely and the food was lovely. But disappointed with the service, especially since it was meant to be a birthday treat.
Food was delicious. We had prepaid for the early evening/pre theatre/2 course menu for 4 diners, 2 x adults, 2 x under 16's. Many of the options on that menu carried extra charges. Between those charges, 6 soft + 2 alcoholic drinks, we were almost an additional £50.
Had a really good evening with cocktails in the cocktail bar first and then down to restaurant. Meal very good. Although it was one course we bought starters and bottle of wine. Very disappointed yes though that we were not offered, nor did receive the free glass of bunny that we should have. Rosalynne Shields
The staff at night were a bit miserable , cud ave smiled a bit more , but the staff at breakfast were fab , really friendly and looked like they enjoyed there job. Wine was a bit over priced , the food was lovely , nice and hot & presented very well, overall we had a lovely time .
Nice place I'Lloyd be back
Food and sevice we received was first class and would definitely recommend
As always.... enjoy food at Grand Central Tempus.
Beautiful place,food and service fantastic
The duck and noodle main tasted like the noodles had been cooked in a freshly washed pot. Atmosphere was non existent, service was uninspiring.
Fabulous... stunning building great food and staff first class!!
Too many supplements. Upgraded voucher for the chateaubriand - smashing piece of beef and well cooked. Tables too close together as you could add to the conversation with your adjoining tables.
what can I say "wonderful"will be back asap
The food was once again fantastic, the service a little slow as it was a busy evening but we will definitely be back.
We had a fantastic meal , staff where very friendly, venue is beautiful would recommend to anyone and will deffinalty be back.
Great food, lovely place
Really enjoyed my visit to Tempus. I would recommend it to anyone. I will definitely be back.
Lovely surroundings with a nice relaxed ambience. Food was delicious and served very quickly and staff were attentive but not overly so. Only gripe was too many surcharges on the menu option provided.
The only bad comment would be for my partners pint. The Perrone did not taste normal, as if the pipes hadn't been cleaned properly. However, the staff gave us a replacement immediately and that was fine.
I dined with my father and his meal was fantastic however my steak was inedible. Super tough and chewy. Tasted like it had been rested for a long time and then refired and ended up incredibly dry. Told waiter and I obviously hadn't eaten any of it and no money offered off any meal or replacement food offered which was a shame as other than that it was a good evening
Great food and service but need to point out that in the Groupon deal 80% of the starters and main course have supplements. I can understand a supplement for steak and seafood but they also put supplement on chicken and fish and chips choices... Would not do this deal again..
My wife and I had a really nice meal at the restaurant. Our only problem was with the dessert my wife ordered. She received totally NOT what she ordered. However, the young waitress dealing with us handled the situation well.
