About Grainstore Restaurant
With its relaxed bistro feel and friendly environment the Grainstore at The Brewery is a great place to be. Whether you are seeing friends, off to a show or simply popping in for an after work treat, it's a great place to eat, relax and socialise.
The unique surroundings reflect the atmosphere of this bustling arts centre and the fabulous menu, designed by our chef, make this one of Kendal’s most popular places to eat.
We have recently launched our new Grainstore menu, our new Chef Mark has joined us from the award-winning Wheatsheaf at Brigsteer and he brings with him a flair for creating contemporary versions of classic British dishes.
“I’m looking forward to refining the new menu over the coming months. The wealth of fantastic ingredients on our doorstep in Cumbria means that dishes will change often throughout the year,” said Mark.
Lovely place for a meal - really friendly service.
Had to wait ages for our table despite booking it weeks and weeks ago. One of the staff had apparently let someone sit on it and we had then had over 45 minutes wait to sit down. Food was nice but there is no point reserving a table if you then give it to someone else. Disappointing.
our waiter was very attentive, friendly and efficient
Seemed a little confused. No mention of early bird or meal deal in any of the information given to us on arrival. No opportunity to pay gratuity when using a card
American I think waitress served us the best service we have ever had there . She came to table immediately to take our drinks order and she knew everything about the menu . She was correct the cauliflower steak was beautiful and superbly spiced and my husbands burger well cooked as requested
Great food in a great setting.
Nice revamp! Great food!
Grainstore was empty so we were encouraged to sit in the bar . This was ok but took ages to find out if we could choose from either menu which we could . Food and drink were good as usual but card machine not working so limited what we could choose as didn’t have much cash .
Our pre-concert fish and chips dinner was spoiled by inedible under-cooked fish and raw batter. The waiters were apologetic and did their best, but by the time my wife had cut into the fish to reveal the liquid batter it was too late to make amends, although we were given a 10% reduction on the food bill. My value for money rating is based on the food had it been properly cooked.
A name over the door would be helpful
One of Our burgers weren’t cooked properly. Service was good but not over happy with the food for the price tbh
we used the Grainstore before the Feast of Fiddles performance and what an excellent choice - my wife says the Cumbrian Sausage and Mash was one of the best she has eaten - the staff were helpful and attentive and the ambience was just right - thanks
Not very impressed with the new menu and prices seem to have risen quite a lot, other places in town do things better, disappointing
Food was excellent, they had sold out of two of the desserts on the menu and the bottles of prosecco and had to pick alternative options, was a busy evening and the staff were friendly and polite.
Very nice staff interaction with customers.
Great service, sociable and friendly atmosphere! Great stuff Thanks
Really happy with our meal in the Grainstore, the food was excellent. The Brewery remains our favourite place to come for an evening out in Kendal, for food, drink, live music or cinema.
Trademark legendary pizzas served quickly by lovely and friendly staff. A good choice of local real beers too.
Lovely food, very friendly staff.
All rather disappointing, I'm afraid
It was quiet cold in the room last night. window table bit if a draft could see you had tried to sort with gaffa tape
Very fatty food (chips, burgers, pizzas), not greatly nutritious. Not great for GF food. The waitress forgot my drink until we reminded her. I have eaten there before but in future I think we'll eat in nearby establishments.
Chips over cooked and onion rings were oily. Chicken burger was awful and tasteless. I’m hoping it was a one off,my girlfriend enjoyed her meal. Will try again one day
It’s great to see the menu has developed with the addition of homemade burgers, with kendal having a lot of pizza places this is a real positive to add more choice. What’s more they taste fantastic (last time a had such a good burger was in the states). Will be visiting again
Not enough choice on the menu, only pizzas and burgers, there used to be so much more choice... everything else was good though
