About Giancarlo's italian
Our family started their Scottish Italian story, many years ago, journeying from their humble beginnings in the mountain village of Picinisco, making their way across Europe, to settle, eventually, in Scotland, to make their living. Of the great diaspora, that spread Italians across the globe, none, could have been more improbable, than their settlement in the remote, rainy Scotland. However, the affinity between the Scots and the Italians was instant. Scotland challenged Italians, but ultimately accommodated them and, in turn, the Scots and Italians learned from each other.
The culinary imprint of Italians can be seen everywhere on British streets. Walk down any major city street, and you will likely find, an Italian, or a descendent, selling ice cream, fish and chips, or, food inspired by their homeland.
Online menu was not current. We were given new truncated menu with more expensive selection. We ordered draft beer and were brought two open small bottles. Then told pumps not working. Music on a short loop. Service with a slouch.
Great food and service as usual Maybe an evening 2 or 3 course special offer?
Great meal with friends. Service always fantastic!
Amazing food as always
We went for an evening meal for my husband's birthday. The food and service were very good and good value for money. Very cheerful staff. We recommend it.
Great Saturday late lunch
Service was woefully understaffed with only one chef and one waiter. Food was average, although there’s lots of choice on the menu.
Excellent lunch with good choice and value. 6 of us go out regularly and thought it was the best lunch we’d had really. Please make sure you have the calamari starter on when we come back on 16 April!
Pizza and wine, both delicious. The waiter was excellent
Excellent food. Could do with some new menus tho 😁
Great meal again last night, staff are very attentive. See you again soon.
We had a lovely evening, good food, great service. Will definitely come again.
Great lunch, we'll be back.
Beautiful food and restaurant. Our only mild concern was that there was only one waiter working and took 20 min to get some service for drinks after being seated. But he was very pleasant and very apologetic. Would definitely attend again.
Fantastic wee restaurant, excellent value for money. Well worth the drive down from Edinburgh. Gnocchi and Lasagne absolutely delicious. Lovely staff in a welcoming atmosphere.
Giancarlo's never disappoints. Food absolutely amazing, brilliant service and good value for money. We always recommend to our friends and family. Thank you Giancarlo's and see you soon :)
Lovely evening with good food and service. Only given 4 * for food as although they do have gluten free options available, it was disappointing that they no longer have gluten-free bread/pizza .
Service, food and atmosphere great, would recommend.
The meal was delicious, the bucatini noricena tastes so fresh and vibrant.
We went for my birthday, food was lovely.
Seats were strange, too high at one side to uncomfortable on other side of table and lower. My calzone was cold, margarita pizza needed longer coke was flat, waited longer for ice cream than main course it was a Wednesday night and not busy
Once again outstanding meal and great service.
New menu more expensive?
Always a lovely place to eat. Food is excellent and the staff are lovely, really good value for money too
I enjoyed coming to your restaurant with my family but found it strange that you seated us by a draughty door when there were other tables available in the restaurant for a party of three. These tables were in far more amenable places and remained vacant throughout the time we were in your restaurant. (We asked about sitting at another table but you told us we couldn’t be seated elsewhere.) I can only think you wanted us seated near the front of the restaurant so it looked full to passers by. My mother is 87 and told me she was cold throughout her time in the restaurant and this adversely affected her enjoyment of the evening. Interestingly, we met with friends today and told them we’d visited your restaurant and they said they had also been and had been cold throughout their visit. It’s a shame when you serve lovely food that you fall down on making customers feel comfortable.
