Lovely venue, great service, good food
Group of nine all enjoyed some well presented traditional English cuisine. Friendly and polite waiting service.Would definitely book again.
We had a really good time marking our friends' significant anniversary. The service was excellent and staff very friendly and knowledgable about the food. It was a shame that there not more people in the restaurant but we will definitely go again
Very good food and service for a large group, easy to deal with for pre-orders. Extra effort made by doing menu cards for us. Will use again
Lacked atmosphere and when meal came it could of been Burgerking ,very disappointing
Shocking, booked a table in March for 50th Birthday meal. Only for it to be cancelled 10 days before due to a boat show booking . Very poor. Wouldn’t recommend. Went to fab little Italian restaurant called Piccolos instead, would recommend 5*****
I have to contact Guinness book of world records because I believe your calamari has to be the smallest portion I ever was served
Disappointing meal
Really nice meal and very good service.didn't have to wait long even though we were told might be a bit of a wait.given free olives and bread which was a nice touch.
Great views and helpful and friendly staff. Food and wine also great and good presentation and quality. Only problem was the Access. The stairs were a real challenge and a disabled lift or stair-lift is badly needed or, as a minimum, good handrails on both sides..
I left a review on trip advisor but in short: Service - Excellent Location - Excellent Food - Too pretentious, overly complex, and too expensive. As far as the lemon drizzle cake was concerned - Very disappointing. 2 x 2 course meals with 2 pints of lager, a coke, a coffee plus a tip should not cost £90 when you compare to other good meals around Southampton. We came on a warm summer Friday night and the restaurant was very quiet and actually empty when we left at 9.30.
Mobile website didn’t work for booking a table, had to do it on a PC
Excellent food, great view but lacked atmosphere.
Well done to Kutis, excellent evening.
Nice roast dinner ? But parsnips were underdone should’ve been roasted off And the gravy with the lamb dishes should be lamb not red wine ? That goes with the beef. plus. The lamb you should say it’s a chop not sliced makes a difference as more fatty ? This is why you haven’t got a lamb gravy as your doing chops ? But overall good not 5 star on your website?
Probably the best Sunday roast in Southampton. Only issue was that the stuffing had raisins and sultanas in it and I hate them. Starters were awesome and so was the Pimms Jelly dessert. The 2 star rating for atmosphere is only down to the fact that they only had around 4 tables occupied. Well worth a visit if you like Sunday roasts
Couldn't believe how quiet it was for such an excellent meal with great service and lovely surroundings. Maybe the poor weather kept people away. Loved our mesl
Excellent food and service! Definitely be back!
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch time meal though would of liked slightly more choice, i.e a plain steak meal with choice of sauce. Service was good and staff were very friendly.
After seeing many positive reviews on TripAdvisor we thought we would choose Gatehouse for a romantic date night for my husband and I. The setting is nice although not the best view over looking the docks. We sat inside as was a bit chilly on the terrace. Staff were attentive and friendly. We both ordered calamari to start and that was lovely followed by the steak. Both asked for it to be cooked medium/ well done... well it came out charred. I got the waitress to send my husband's back as even thought mine was too over done I was so hungry to wait to send it back. After I had finished my meal about 10/15 minutes later my husband got a new steak back but it was only mildly better, still pretty much well done and quite tough. We finished with a desert that was lovely, and the waiter presented us with the bill and had taken £10 off. Slightly disappointing as the fillet steak were £28 each and either weren"t cooked as requested and still didn't get it right even after sending it back. Such a shame as could have been a lovely meal, very disappointed.
I specifically phoned in advance to ask if we would be able to have more than the lunch menu when we came to celebrate my sons graduation and was told the evening a la carte menu is available all day. On the day we were then told this wasn't available. The lunch menu is very limited and casual, burgers and fish and chips and not what I would have chosen for a celebration meal. The terrace looks nice (although the view is not as nice as in the pictures) but there is no shade at all. The food was so salty we couldn't eat part of it (and I like quite a bit of salt). I was told the chef had added rocksalt. The burger and cheese was burnt and the chips were blackened around the edges. My son was told the macaroni would be a large dish but in fact was really quite small. I would not go there again and not recommend it.
I found the background music to be far to loud, also the music choice was not really suitable for a restaurant. The food was OK but nothing special and I was surprised that the venue has such a good trip advisor rating.
The table was set up with balloons and confetti it was beautiful our waitress was lovley the food was the nicest we have had there ~definitely worth a visit we will be back 😁
We had a fabulous meal on the roof terrace, nice atmosphere and great service. We will definitely go again.
We booked. Early on the day of the planner meal you asked us to reconfirmed which we did. We arrived on time and were told the restaurant was shut due to the chef being ill. Why weren't we notified? Then you asked for feedback on the 'experience' as if we had got a meal! Unbelievable. Won't be returning.
