About Garvie & Co.
Located in the heart of Milngavie bringing a new concept in dining & relaxation to the area.
You’ll get to know Garvie & Co for its mouth-watering menus, its optimal range of drinks, its vibrant atmosphere and its friendly customer service.
Garvie & Co has both style & substance & is a fresh concept for Milngavie. It’s an all-day destination offering an In-House Bakery, Bar and Eatery.
There seemed to be a few black chips in the steak meals. Carrots were hard thou the pastry in the steak pie was light. Prices in regard to soft drinks against alcoholic seemed high .
Very good friendly service. Excellent meal and fair pricing. Good selection of meal options to suit all tastes
New menu long overdue and I would say it is a success. Quality has improved as well. Service still a bit patchy.
The Market menu was shown as available on line. This has now been discontinued in the evening and we found the new menu to be virtually the same as the old menu and the cost was much dearer than we have paid in the past.
Excellent lunch, good food, delicious as always .was dining with friend and this was her first visit .so impressed she plans to visit with her husband
Michael was lovely, had a lovely afternoon
Good food, reasonably priced and good atmosphere
We eat at Garvies on a regular basis and always find the staff friendly and attentive. None of the company I have been in has ever had a bad word to say about the food served or drink consumed. It’s well worth a visit, even if you stay a little out of the way. I can guarantee, Garvies will not dissapointed.
Food and service excellent. All dishes were delicious, the fish was fresh and perfectly cooked.
Classy place, lovely staff and good food.
Nice venue, average food at milngavie prices
Just had lunch but couldn't fault it. I had the bagle which was delicious with an extremely tasty potato salad on the side. Staff were friendly and efficient. Only thing is the menus are a bit tatty.
Very pleasant and attentive staff. Food excellent value.. xx
Booked a table for a family get together, needed a quiet environment for the comfort of some in the family, staff accommodated needs perfectly. Had the set menu, excellent quality food & portion sizes. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed visit, I really enjoyed the live pianist. Will be back!
We waited 30 minutes before drinks arrived, the main course orders had several mistakes and the creme brulee was inedible. Food was somewhat overpriced. I won't rush back.
Dinner on Friday night Food and service was just excellent Garvies never lets you down!
This is our 2nd visit to Garvies. Good food and friendly staff. Definetly one of our favourite places to dine lunch or dinner
Pleasant staff who responded well to requests.
Due to lack of staff and being a party of 4 we had to get our orders brought in 2 goes, resulting in a near 5 minute wait before all of the party could start to eat each course. Food at the usual good standard and staff highly competent, options on market menu are slightly predictable and could possibly be changed on a more regular basis.
The most disappointing experience of eating out for a long, long time; the whole visit to Garvie's was a disaster, from start to finish. The meal was vile, the service extremely poor, and the a non-existent ambience - not even a bit of background music. To say I was extremely disappointed and angry with the quality of food we were served is an understatement, but the final straw was the underwhelming customer service, particularly that displayed by the Manager. We came to Garvie's for a meal, on Good Friday, to start our bank holiday weekend. For the starter, we ordered prawn cocktail: upon tasting the first forkful, I had to send it back to the kitchen, as the prawns were all rubbery and chewy - very off-putting. The prawn cocktail had arrived, with no lemon, so I asked the waiter for that and some tobasco sauce, but he never bothered coming back to the table. The fish & chips we ordered for our main courses were a total disappointment. If I were the chef, or manager of Garvie's, I would be ashamed to let what we were served leave the kitchen, let alone expect customers to eat and enjoy! It was a very small portion, which came as a rip off, straightaway, given we had chosen from the a la carte, not coming in looking for a pre-theatre. The chips were the dregs from a large plastic size bag of pre-made skinny fries, which had been saturated in oil, and in all honesty, you wouldn't accept even in McDonald's. Again the meal come with no condiments. We had to ask for salt, vinegar and tomato sauce, only to be told, again, by the young schoolboy serving, we have no tomato sauce left, which he then proceeded to laugh at - don't know what was funny, but I certainly wasn't laughing! We ordered a side of bread & butter, to go along with the meal, as the portion was so small, but the kitchen couldn't even get that right. We were served brioche bread, which had a horrible, unpalatable sweet taste; since when was sweet bread something which went alongside fish & chips? To top the meal off, we were served garlic mayonnaise alongside our fish & chips, which was supposed to pass as tartare sauce (the taste of which was truly disgusting), and by the Manager's own admission comes from a bought in, industrial sized container. I spoke to the Manager about how disappointed I was, particularly as I have been coming to Garvie's for years, and cannot believe the sharp decline in quality. He shrugged his shoulders and could not really have cared less, about the poor quality meal I had ordered and not been able to eat. What type of restaurant employs a chef, but buys in the cheapest of the cheap ingredients and pre-made food? Would it be too much to serve home-cooked, quality food, as you claim to do? The whole experience was sadly lacking, and pardon the pun, has left a bitter taste in the mouth. Will not be back!
Lovely bar and restaurant in Milngavie.
Had a great evening for husbands birthday, food was lovely and the staff were great. Will be back to work our way through the menu, kids said it was "top notch" lol.
Good food. Wouldn’t recommend the sweet potato burger as it appeared to just be a pile of mashed sweet potato in a bun with nothing to hold it together. As a result it all fell apart as soon as it was lifted off the plate. All other dishes were good.
