Pleasant staff but somewhat rushed on the Afternoon teas for the following sitting. I object to having to pay in the CarPark!
The staff are absolutely amazing they looked after us so well. Solofklis was as lovely as ever and made sure we were ok. Would highly recommend for people to go!
It was hot, so we chose to sit outside, so slightly disturbed by lots of passing guests and staff, hence only three stars for atmosphere. The chairs were low so we could not reach the food stand and when I carefully pulled it towards us, I was very embarrassed when the third leg of the stand went down the hole in the middle of the table, depositing the contents of the top tier onto the ground. It was quickly replaced by very attentive staff.
Friendly service afternoon tea was lovely, bit to warm which made the cakes melt a bit, but pleased overall
It was excellent. We had a very pleasant time. The staff are very friendly, and helpful.
Had a lovely time with my daughter for her birthday. Service and surroundings very good. The only faults I have is the little cakes were a little bland not much taste and I thought it was a little over priced for what u had but I would go back again
They seated us in a lovely area and my mum received a birthday candle which was a lovely touch. The service was great apart from at the beginning when they took a while to take our order. I would just suggest adding a few more sandwiches or savoury items to the afternoon tea. Very generous on the prosecco :)
We found the whole experience beautiful. The pianist in the garden just finished it off beautifully. He interacted with his audience and he had such soul in his voice. We enjoyed listening to him.
excelent food good staff
The staff were friendly, however, we had to wait around for a little while before being seated and we found that overall it just lacked that little something.
We found the whole experience really lovely the food itself was really tasty and also the fact that you could have your say on the sandwich fillings was a bonus
Lovely food and maitre d, when we arrived the table wasn't ready so we were given complimentary drinks. However the service wasn't very attentive, wasn't asked how our meal was, wasn't asked if we wanted anymore drinks when all 4 of our glasses were empty. When finally being able to catch a waitress for a top up of water this was then forgotten and then later remembered when she walked past some time later and saw us still waiting. When ordering the only vegetarian main course from the standard menu, I was told they had ran out, I asked what other options they had and the waitress had to go and check with the kitchen. This was a shame as we had previously booked for 7.30pm, which was confirmed and then later changed with no explanation to 8.30pm, I questioned this at checked in and it was due to the restaurant being busy at 7.30pm. If we had still attended at 7.30pm I would've been able to have the preferred food option, unfortunate! The main I had to have was also more expensive than the one I had chosen.
Food looked good on the menu, very disappointed when delivered. Service terrible, order taken after 5 minutes, after 30 minutes waiting, and other people coming in after us being served, I asked to speak to the Manager. Within 5 minutes we received our food. Definitely not value for money, way overpriced, would not recommend friends or family to come.
Staying for a night having stayed previously and being married there 17 years. Had lunch in bar which was ok although service very slow and had to attract attention every time. Dinner in the evening was just ok, scallops to start which arrived very dry followed by the steak which was just ok but not cheap - my wife had the chicken which she enjoyed. Service again was ok, food arrived in good time to allow a balanced break between courses but staff need to be called if you needed anything further.
We all had a good evening. However would not have chosen coombe abbey myself, only my daughter bought us a voucher. Very expensive as usual main dish I choose vegetarian dish said with new potatoes I had a jersey size potato cut into four and a few string beans had to order extra veg , as I said very expensive not worth the money!
Very well presented
Service was a but slow at times but we were not in a rush food good wines good choice
The hotel booking was fully booked, I tried calling but couldn't get through therefore, I emailed as I wanted to surprise my mum for her birthday. They managed to get us a booking which made it extra special and we all had a good time. Weather been great was a bonus. Thank you Coombe Abbey.
Afternoon tea was lovely but unfortunately the service was abysmal. Waited over an hour and a half for our food to be taken away and 45 minutes for the bill to come after asking for it. The manager did compensate us with free glasses of prosecco that we were very grateful for. But when paying £30 for afternoon tea, we expected better service.
Quality of sandwich fillings poor compared to other afternoon teas. We provided dietary requirements in advance but had to repeat them on the day. Expected more inventive fillings other than cheese/ham and egg. Scones were excellent! Cakes are ok. Stunning venue, great atmosphere and service. Brought out a complimentary birthday cupcake for my mum which was a lovely touch.
Starters were very small, mine was one tiny sardine whilst my wife had 3 scallops. My steak was over cooked well done v medium rare, it had to be sent back which meant we were unable to eat our main course together. It is a shame as Coombe Abbey is such a fab hotel one of our favourite!
Lovely location for afternoon tea and brilliant service from the staff. The scones and pastries were lovely, however, I would have liked a better choice of sandwich. Saying that, I would still visit again.
I brought my friend for afternoon tea for her 70th birthday. We were seated by the window within the arched structure which was wonderful. The service was second to none, the staff couldn't have been more helpful including taking photos of us which we had asked if they would kindly do. The food was delicious and the tea and coffee perfectly matched our taste. The icing on the cake was that a birthday card and cupcake with a lighted candle were produced, much to both our surprise and she was delighted. That was going over and above , it was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. Thank you. I had been earlier this year as a Christmas present which was super and the reason I wanted to bring my friend. You didn't disappoint and since my previous visit I have been telling all my friends to visit you, and will continue to do so. Thank u for a memorable day for both of us.
Very nice surroundings and courteous staff
Beautiful venue, this was our first time to visit the location and were most impressed with the style and ambience.
