About Garden Restaurant
British and European flavours combined with the elegant setting and perfect views of our private, landscaped gardens
The Garden Restaurant Menu offers an extensive choice. Our Chef uses as much local produce as possible to create a truly memorable dining experience with our beautiful setting enhancing this experience even further.
Staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming. Afternoon tea was lovely and plenty to share for 2. We asked for more tea and this was brought quickly with no additional charges. Would defiantly book again if in the Winchester area.
Fantastic meal and service. Top notch restaurant! We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Winchester Royal and the meals we had there. Lovely spot in a beautiful city!
Perfect Afternoon tea, Scones were amazing, so light. Hidden gem of Winchester. Very relaxing atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will be returning in the summer, beautiful garden.
Very good value cream tea for 4. One large, delicious scone each, slightly warm, with choice of jams if you ask. Not enough clotted cream so had to ask for more. Choice of tea but extra hot water not brought without asking. Would have been nice to have the tea & scones all arrive together rather than the tea well ahead. But overall, very enjoyable and would definitely go back.
A really comfortable stay in a conveniently central location. Quality of cuisine was well beyond what we expected so would recommend to anyone.
Good quality and varied selection for afternoon tea on our second visit. Friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Thank you and well done!
We visited Winchesteer Royal hotel for Afternoon tea on Saturday afternoon (2.30). We were shown our table and asked if we would like the fizz and tea. We requested this... these came out along with the selection of sandwiches and cakes. Nothing was explained to us and this was the last time we saw a member of staff. I have never been to an afternoon tea where they don't tell you what the items are and if the customer may have allergies. We decided at this point just to eat what we thought we could and leave. We weren't offered anymore teas either. This was a disappointing experience! Good job we paid up front as we saw no staff when we left either...
Lovely afternoon tea, thank you
Tired hotel, poor food. Needs a revamp
Lovely old building with a beautiful garden, must be delightful in the summer.
Really enjoyed our afternoon tea. Good selection of cakes and the scones were still warm. The restaurant was clean and well decorated. Staff were friendly and welcoming
Nice Sandwiches Scones ok Cakes abysmal Shop bought left overs from xmas, if your expecting patisserie forget it !
We showed up with 2 vegans and had forgotten to notify them beforehand. They managed to whip up a delicious vegan tea for on the go for us, and were very accommodating. Tea was lovely!
Excellent food and service, food very well presented, lovely garden views from the restaurant. If I was to make any constructive criticism it would be that the waitress had to go away to find what beers the bar served, maybe with full training she would have known. But this is being extremely picky. Highly recommended
First visit to Winchester Royal for family afternoon tea. I loved the garden room and views rewarded to us from being in there The tea as expected with selection of sandwiches and cakes. Nicely presented and all staff friendly although a little elusive at times. Great place for visiting Winchester, it even made me want to stay overnight over the summer months I'd recommend a visit
An afternoon tea was booked as a special treat for my daughter and family. What a disappointment ! No welcome, no description of the food presented, no questions relating to any possible allergies.Tea pots contain 6 tea bags resulting in a “stew” being poured. Not a single visit from the staff during the afternoon enquiring if we were content. To sum up: Not a place we could recommend!
The meal was very poor so we didn’t book for the second night
We booked for a high tea to celebrate mums 80th birthday, nothing was too much trouble and a special plate of ham and cheese sandwiches was bought out for my fussy niece which was really lovely for her and greatly appreciated.
Staff were very helpful as we had a member of our party in a wheelchair.
Whilst the staff were friendly and approachable it was a constant request for things that should happen automatically If you book for high tea check that you will be in the garden room and not a bland function room which we were initially seated in and we requested to be moved.... not all sweet treats looked home made It was not overly expensive but to be tempted back they would need to match the expectations by checking out other venues to see how it should have been delivered.. Not high tea for 5 squashed on one stand !!! Sorry to be negative as staff were lovely but appeared a little inexperienced
Lovely staff but food is a bit basic
Friendly staff and excellent value afternoon tea
The service was dreadful. We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated - 3 members of staff passed us and told us that they were too busy to seat us. Whilst it was great to have gluten free food, none of the food looked or tasted home made, gluten free or regular- the bread was regular processed bread and the mince pies looked like supermarket mince pies. We were given cream and jam but no spoons so had to use the sugar tongs. The toilets were a mess - toilet paper and paper towels on the floor and surfaces and one of the locks on the ladies doors did not work. It was all in all very disappointing especially as the tea had been given to us as a gift.
Really poor afternoon tea, dry cakes and what looked like shop bought mince pies. No Christmas music so atmosphere poor. Waitress not very welcoming. Very disappointed.
Nice afternoon tea, booking was very efficient and helpful staff.
