About Garden House Inn
The Garden House is a charming 18th century coachhouse serving homemade pizza and sides in our beer garden.
Due to the current situation we may close the online diary, but you can still call us to see if we have availability for walk ins
easy booking and seating outside was nicely spread out. the pizza was nice but our order was wrong and no staff came back to check if our meal was ok. It was difficult to get ongoing orders as the staff did not come round the customers very often and were inside but not easy to see where. i would suggest that the staff circulate more or a bell or something at the door to get their attention for orders.
Great pub, very helpful attentive staff and delicious pizzas
The pizzas was delicious!
Beautiful pizza, great service and excellent atmosphere. Our waitress was very welcoming, attentive and friendly. Thank you
Great atmosphere, fab to be out and to have such a great evening.
Superb!! Amber is an absolute joy and credit to your business
Had a lovely night on Saturday, sat in the beer garden, wrapped up warm. Staff were lovely and friendly, although very busy. Pizza's were gorgeous and it was lovely to have a drink poured by The Garden House. Only feedback I would mention was that it was a shame there were no patio heaters :)
Great to be back in one of our favourite pubs. Pizza's were very nice :)
Booked a table outside, but the outdoor area was full when we arrived. Waited 15 minutes extra before we got seated. After sitting for over 20 minutes without anyone coming over to ask us if we wanted drinks or food, we got up and left. I can appreciate under current circumstances things are particularly difficult for businesses. However, I still left hugely disappointed with nothing positive to say.
Lovely Sunday lunch. Clean inside, friendly staff.
The food was STUPENDOUS could not fault the service, the staff, the social distancing everything was spot on definitely worth a visit
This is the first time we have been out since the lockdown and we were not disappointed. Staff went above and beyond, very attentive without being overpowering. The Sunday lunch was outstanding best yorkshire pudding I have ever had - meat was tender and tasted devine, everything came piping hot. Cant wait to come back
We ate in The Garden House Inn on Sunday 11th of October, food was fab - service not so great. Starters took over 40 minutes, when the table was cleared the cutlery had also been taken away, when the main course was brought we had to ask for fresh cutlery, my partners only had a knife so had to stand at the bar & ask for a fork, reminded the waitress about the glass of red that I ordered & the cauliflower cheese, she assured me both were on the way. 5 minutes had passed, when she returned to the table to advise that there was an issue with the till & it hadn't gone through & that it would take a further 10 minutes, at the time are meal was cold!
We've been a handful of times now and the food has been excellent every time.
Waitresses were really lovely
Bar was very quiet, almost empty- more staff than customers. Still waited half an hour for 2 cold starters (pate and smoked salmon salad) Food was average at best. Waited another 15 minutes for plates to be cleared, by this point there were only 2 other customers in the bar. Mains arrived (2 Sunday lunches) potato tasted like microwave instant mash, definitely not value for money. Service extremely slow, not a great experience wouldn't recommend or return unfortunately
Disappointing visit, considering previous visits have been very good. Social distancing policy requires a review, why are you letting people order at the bar? Food was ok, not great value. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, that came with no pepperoni, so we had to wait for pepperoni whilst the pizza went cold. We were asked if we wanted the sides as a starter and before the pizzas, we said yes, but the pizzas and the all the other food turned up at the same time. The triple cooked chips were not triple cooked, they were barely cooked! We heard other people complain about this as well. I really like this pub, but you need to do better in my opinion.
Great food for a great price. Roadhouse Pizzas were amazing
As the booking portal allowed booking upto 9:00pm we were a little disappointed to be rushed to order as soon as we had arrived at 8:45om as the kitchen was closing. We had to order our starters, mains and puddings all at once. It was worth it - the pizzas were superb!
Overall we enjoyed our stay.. Room was nice and the staff were friendly.. Being able to leave the car and walk into Durham was a great bonus..the cozy bar is a nice place to spend the evening and the pitza was nice but thought the menu was a bit limited.. Also some breakfast would have been good..
Excellent even in these odd times.
Food was spot on - perfect portions and tasted great! Would definitely recommend to others and will be returning in the near future.
On arrival we were disappointed to find that the menu only offered pizza for a main course. However, it was good and the service very pleasant.
Lovely food, great service too I really like this pub, it’s well decorated and has a nice atmosphere. All of the food was lovely and well priced too
