About Gandhi Restaurant
Gandhi Restaurant is Winchester's longest running Indian Restaurant. Since 1987 we have adapted to our customers' tastes and experiences to ensure we become one of the leading Indian restaurants through new benchmarks in food, ambiance and service.
Following our major new refurbishment carried out in July 2014, we have transformed the Gandhi into something a little extra special.
No matter what the occasion, we are confident that our atmosphere of relaxed elegance, exquisitely decorated interior with private dining, our charming staff and not forgetting our unique menus, will be something that needs to be experienced to be believed.
Great location, excellent food and charming staff
Excellent meal. It was my first visit. I'll be back.
Best Indian food in Hampshire
Another Great Meal at the Gandhi, the normal front of house team were not present, but the team in place (familiar faces) all stepped up and supplied the same warm welcome & service we always get here. Most places are quiet on a Monday, but there was quite a few people in and the atmosphere was good. As always great food and an enjoyable time. Thanks
Always lovely food
The food was really tasty and perfectly cooked. A little pricier than the competition in Winchester
Excellent food and service like always
Fab food. Fab service.
We had booked a table for 6 people as we had expected a Sunday in Winchester to be very busy. In fact we were the ONLY people in the restaurant! We had been given a table in the back initially - but when I asked, we were eventually reseated by the windows - thank you! The food was "OK", nothing special. I can only describe my own experience - the venison was the smallest portion I have seen in recent times, 4 small slivers of meat. Venison is not THAT expensive, why not give a reasonable portion, esp. as it was one of the most expensive items on the menu? The saag bhaji (spinach) was very dry. The tarka daal was too watery. The only good thing was the naan bread - I asked for chilli and garlic - but to be honest this was too oily. Maybe in the busy evenings they have different chefs, etc. But Sunday lunchtime did not seem to be their priority or highlight!
Easily the best Indian restaurant in Winchester. Another great meal enjoyed. Thank you
Always a great welcom
Fantastic food. Something from everyone on the menu.
As always a lovely time was had by all. Lovely surroundings, good food and great service, thank you.
We always have a great time at the Gandhi - would highly recommend.
Best Indian restaurant we have been to! My dad and I come here every time we are in Winchester. The food is delicious ten times out of ten no matter what you order.
Another Great Meal - quite a good buzz in the restaurant for a Monday night too. Thanks to Ronnie & the team for looking after us as always!
Very good overall and will be booking again for Valentine's Day. Thank you very much.
Always a bit rushed at the end as they like to clear the tables asap.
Really enjoyed meal
Food was excellent. But let down by being rushed to order by waiting staff and food came instantly with no pauses in courses. This was then followed by being ignored for a second drink order due to an increase in diners and had to ask for the bill 3 times. I finally got up and demanded the bill as we had waited 30 mins for a bill.
10 blokes out for a curry - table was reserved with no problems, food was great, decent portion sizes (probably the best I've seen at any Indian restaurant) and good service. Would recommend to anyone who wants to taste traditional cooking
As we were the only people in the restaurant it’s difficult to comment on atmosphere. The food was some of the best we have had - so fresh and well flavoured.
Another Great Meal - Service is good, booking process is easy. This is the best Indian restaurant for miles. Thanks Ronnie & the Team
Very enjoyable lunch as usual!
