Really enjoyable afternoon tea.
Quite quiet for a Saturday night. Service could have been a little quicker
Good Evening thank you for your review. Unfortunately it was quieter than normal on Saturday, however sad to hear that the team had taken their eye off the ball. Hope to see you again soon.
Had a very enjoyable lunch. Menu varied and suitable for all tastes and appetites. Would definitely return.
Myself and my company thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, and would not hesitate in returning in the future.
Good Evening Delighted to hear that the team looked after you so well and you all enjoyed your visit. hope to see you back with us soon.
Food is always of a very high standard. Not the cheapest place around but I think you get what you pay for! Staff are always very helpful and I just think it’s a lovely place to go.
Good Evening thank you for your kind words. Delighted to hear you enjoy your visits to us and you keep coming back. Hope to see you again soon
Having dined at each of the four simpsinns on many occasions and celebrated our 61st wedding anniversary with a 3 night break at The Gailes 2years ago I would have no hesitation in recommending the Gailes Hotel as first class. At each of the other simpsinns you will get a great service and excellent dining experience.
Good Evening thank you for such a glowing reference for the Simpsinns company. We aim to ensure all our properties are to a high standard and its very pleasing to hear this is the case.
Great food as usua, lovely relaxed atmosphere and such friendly staff. Always a great meal out for us.
Good Evening Delighted to hear you had a great experience and the team looked after you so well.
Excellent service always
thank you for the great review. Hope to see you again soon
The staff were awesome especially the woman who took our booking, she really looked after us on the night, ensuring that my fiance could see the champions league final. I really liked the atmosphere in the new sports bar and will probably be back there again since we live nearby.
Thank you for your great review. Delighted to hear the team looked after you so well and you got to enjoy the football in our new product. hope to see you back with us soon.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Staff were lovely esp Chesney. Police and friendly. Food was excellent also
Thank you for the great review. Hope to see you again soon.
Was very pleased with everything. There were seven in our party and everybody enjoyed their meals.
Very efficient and pleasant staff. Food good and a good bottle of wine. Thank you
Thank you for the review. Delighted to hear we kept you well fed and watered.
We had afternoon tea with Prosecco. The sandwiches were lovely with lots of filling. The cakes however were very disappointing. We asked for plain scones rather than fruit and we're told "We only buy in fruit" ! What happened to home made scones?? The rest of the cakes were also bought in and they were not very nice. The mini doughnuts were solid as was the mini eclair and carrot cake. The other mini tray bake pieces were sloppy as we're obviously frozen and defrosted quickly. For me afternoon tea is all about the home baking, cakes, scones and meringues. The setting and service were first class as were the kids meals, Mac & cheese and chicken strips.
Sorry to hear the feedback regarding the cakes. I will take this issue up with the kitchen team as not our usual high standard.
Lovely meal would’ve given 5 stars but the sides of chips were forgotten. Had to ask for them.
Thank you for the review. Delighted to hear everything was good, despite the error with the chips.
We dined as a party of 4 on 23rd November 2018. The restaurant was clean, had a great atmosphere and our food was mostly great. Our starters consisted of Nachos to share between my parter and I and my father and step mum both had garlic mushrooms which we all loved. We were also impressed with our main courses, 3 of us had the same dish i believe but my partner opted for the Green Thai Curry. We all left happy with our meals however, we reported a case of food poisoning as my partner had been violently ill after his Green Thai Curry (which none of us had) we reported this to the hotel 2 days after our visit, I believe. I have contacted the hotel twice since reporting this without any resolution or further communication. We very much enjoyed everything that night however, the way in which the hotel has handled the food poisoning report has been awful. I would appreciate it if someone was able to get in touch with me to discuss this as it is beyond a joke how long I have waited for a response.
Great food! It was lovely to dine at my venue for my wedding in 2020!
Thank you for the great review. Delighted we looked after you so well. We look forward to celebrating with you in 2020!
Service excellent. Food not up to usual standard and a bit expensive
Thank you for the review. Sorry to hear that the food was not up to our usual high standards.
Regrettably our steaks were sent back as they were rare instead of medium despite this the steaks came back still rare therefore we chose two there dishes. Apologies were offered but disappointed as we have never had a problem with food before but would not have the steaks again
Sorry to hear about the steaks not being cooked enough. I have shared this with the kitchen team. Hope to see you back with us again soon.
I brought my mum to the Gaiies for lunch for her 90th birthdsy. While chatting to staff my mum told them it was her birthday they presented her with a muffin, candle and chocolate piping wishing her a happy birthday ! Superb service and great food. Will be back .would recommend highly. Thanks to all staff
Delighted to hear that the team helped make your mum's birthday so special. Hope to see you back again soon.
Good food offering good value, certainly recommend
Thank you for your review. Hope to see you back with us again soon.
4 Friends dined here on Friday last week, Didn't quite catch the name of our server but what a lovely girl, I had booked online to find out that I thought we had booked the spring menu with a bottle of prosecco only to find out that I was 2 years out of date! They honoured a bottle of prosecco which I thought was such a lovely gesture, thank you for a lovely night for a catch up with Friends.
Thank you for your review. Great to hear that the team looked after you so well. Also thank your for pointing out that some of our online stuff was out of date
Booked for an early dinner, so had the place to ourselves. Staff polite, friendly, and helpful. Meal lovely, with a good portion and quality ingredients. Would have no hesitation to recommend, and will definitely go back.
Thank you for your great review. Hope to see you back with us soon.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch on Tuesday, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be back.
Thank you for you great review. Hope to see you back with us soon.
This was my first visit to the Gailes. It was for mothers day afternoon tea. The restaurant was busy - always a good sign. Staff were pleasant, helpful and quick to re-fill teas and coffees. The afternoon tea itself was mediocre. The sandwiches were dry. The bread slightly stale like they had been pre made too long before serving. Inner fillings however were fine and a well rounded choice. Scones had the same problem as the bread. Very very dry and hard around the edges from being out in the air for presumably too long. The Haggis bon bons were lovely as were the small chocolate sponges. The bottom layer cakes had damp droplets of water all over them. An indication that the pastries/cakes had been frozen and left to thaw out before serving. Much like the cakes you can buy at Iceland. Price wise £25 for two is very reasonable, I have however been to other places and paid the same to not much more for all fresh items. I wouldn't rush back to the Gailes for the afternoon tea. I would return to the restaurant for a meal if I heard enough praise.
