Housed in the former Greta Point tavern building that was famously moved to its current site by barge in 12 pieces earlier this century, Foxglove Bar & Kitchen opened June 2010 in the heart of Wellington’s Queens Wharf precinct.
The owners have designed a series of smaller spaces within this large building, bringing a sense of intimacy to the different lounge areas. The three bars within Foxglove have their own unique personalities, adorned with a touch of 1940’s vintage glamour and coupled with sweeping harbour views from every vantage point.
Wonderful service. Was a bit slow with serving me a drink I had paid for and they made up for it with refunding me the money even without asking or any expectation
We had a lovely Christmas lunch at Foxglove.
Everything was excellent, especially the service from our drinks and food waiter/waitress. Really enjoyed our meals, oysters were delicious, steak beautifully cooked. The atmosphere was great and not too noisy. I loved how there was table privacy even though it seemed open. I can't understand why I didn't make the effort to come here sooner. Just one small point - please fix the blowers in the bathrooms. I was talking to someone in the bathroom and they had been to Foxglove before and noticed that the blowers were broken then??!!
We really enjoyed our team lunch here, the food was good - nice and quick without rushing, and good service, regularly checking on the table and offering items. We did feel that the atmosphere was a bit lacking, it felt cold in the restaurant, and as it was a quieter day, not many others around. This can be good if you want a quiet place for lunch, but was a bit too quiet for us.
Our fries were cold when food came out.
Great service, Great food
I had dinner here with my fiancé, just after I proposed to her. I had pre-ordered our meals, and had asked for a window seat, and drinks to be there when we arrived (because we had a late dinner). Everything was perfect. The drinks were there, the food arrived shortly after we arrived, which was perfect, the quality of the food was absolutely spot on (we ordered the Lamb and the Pork). The service really stood out to us. The staff were incredibly personable. They were polite and professional (hard to find these days), friendly and absolutely wanted to make sure that we had a great time. I had informed them that we just got engaged just prior, and they gave us complimentary bubbles which was another very nice touch. I have been to Foxglove quite a number of times, and will continue to go for a very nice fine-dining experience. A very big thank you to Lucy and her team, and Tash our waitress, and all the other staff members who made our night very enjoyable.
excellent all round.
We enjoyed the food, it was delicious. The problem we had is the food is not cheap - ie it’s not quick sustinence - so the visit to foxglove becomes about the experience. From the moment we arrived that felt “off”. There was no clear place to wait to be seated. We waited for a while near the stand near the restaurant. No body noticed us. Finally a bar server - clearly exhaserbated - took us to a table. No greeting. No welcome. Just dumped the menus down and left us. Finally a restaurant wait staff did notice us and came to our table. She was lovely and pleasant but clearly understaffed. We waited a long time for our drinks and the ordered breads that would have helped our hunger with the long wait till entrees only came out with the entrees. We had to find the wait staff’s water jug and refill our waters after long periods of waiting. The food was however delicious. It was just soured by the experience of the service being off, and given the cost of meals this is an event for us, not just a casual meal out instead of cooking at home. The waitress was lovely - don’t get me wrong - but one waitress for a whole restaurant lets the whole place down. The front of house clearly needs a matre d to oversee and have the process flow. Even paying when leaving felt like an imposition. Again we waited - unknowing if we were even in the right place to pay - and again finally a bar staffer, again clearly exhaserbated, took our money. It felt sour and a sour note to end on what should have been a wonderful night out.
We had a great evening at foxglove last night. As always the food was delicious, the service excellent and a good selection of drinks.
Amazing food!!! 😁👏🏻
Inconsistent food quality. Very disappointing
Always a winner as a venue, whether it be for private dining, or a work function/lunch/dinner. Brilliant friendly staff, fabulous atmosphere, delicious food and the cocktails are superb.
Excellent Wow package menu
The staff were wonderful and the food was incredible. The brownie was sadly undercooked in our takeaway dessert for WOW and the ladies behind us were quite loud I assume due to wine :) but it was a lovely evening thankyou!
Friendly staff and food was great would reccomend.
Had a delicious dinner before the WoW show. The restaurant is rather noisy, but the service and food were outstanding.
I felt the risotto which is my most common dish to order when I go out was bland and unadvertising. Rice, peas and salmon looked and tasted more like something I’d feed my 1 year old than expect to be served up at a restaurant, especially for the $30+ price tag!
A lovely meal, nice attentive but not overpowering service and no sense of rush. Thank you
The food and service was outstanding.
Great spot - great ambiance- overall GREAT
We came for WOW and had the WOW special menu - such great value and the food was fantastic- staff were amazing and patient. I would recommend you guys many times over. Well done to your crew.
Service was great!
