About Fox and Hounds
The Fox & Hounds pub & restaurant offers fine dining in relaxed, elegant surroundings in the charming village of Funtington, near Chichester in West Sussex, boasting a truly fantastic wine list, well-stocked bar with a wide range of real ales, large garden and impeccable, friendly service.
A really fantastic Sunday lunch, all of us enjoyed our meals, and a great little garden to relax in with a drink afterwards. Thinking of booking again soon. Thankyou to all of the staff there. I tied this family meal in with a visit to the Goodwood Sculpture Park which is worth a visit on its own.
Great food and service. Great way to celebrate graduating university with family and friends.
You need to do something about the flies.
Very happy with the service and overall quality of the food. Would come back and recommend to friends.
Lovely position in pub, fabulous food & excellent service.
Good food, good service, reasonable pricing
Best roast dinner we every had out! Parking was a nightmare.. Food and service was amazing and they can cater for gulten free with no dramas!
A lovely family meal enjoyed by all
Another lovely meal. Thank you.
Excellent service and delicious meals
Had a large family meal (circa 30) at the Fox & Hounds. The whole evening was excellent. Delicious food and well organised attentive service. Marco and Sonato, the managers, are outstanding and couldn’t have been more helpful.
Had a most enjoyable evening with friends. The food was delicious, the portions are just right and the service was excellent. Will definitely go back.
Meat and turkey were lovely but roast potatoes were dried out and not that warm, plenty of veg but over cooked. Yorkshire pudding looked good but again dry and no taste. Plus would help if had more gravy.
We have been to the Fox & Hounds a few times but really not impressed with our last visit yesterday. We booked online for a Sunday afternoon but when we arrived the carvery wasn’t on, if we were made aware of that before we would’ve gone elsewhere. The service was so slow and the food took about 45 mins to come - I only ordered a sandwich! I do feel that it was overpriced for what it was too. All in all, not a great experience
Lovely food, lovely pub. The staff that served us throughout our meal were friendly and attentive with a good pause between courses. The only piece of feedback I would leave is the slightly older gentleman of the team that served us didn't even say hello when we arrived, he was quite abrupt, rather than going straight in with "have you booked" a hello would have been nice! The meal had a special meaning for us. Otherwise great.
We've been to the Fox and Hounds many times but this time was pretty disastrous and as it was for my mum's birthday it was really disappointing. our order did not go through so we waited over an hour and a half for our food and there were 4/5 flies buzzing around our table the whole time including when our food was eventually served. We were given complimentary drinks as a result of the mix up but unfortunately it's us off from ever going back because our evening and the celebrations were ruined. A real shame
We had a table at 6 so we may have suffered from early'itish we have eaten here before and the food has been outstanding this night it wasn't! The pie of the day was very dry and overall the food was not as good as we remembered. Main point though is that the dining room was full of flies and no real help from staff to fix the problem - spoilt what should have been a nice family meal out!
Halloumi roll was disappointing. We were also disappointed that my husband’s order had been inadvertently cancelled so he had to wait for his dish.
Our party of six had a wonderful lunch at the Fox and Hounds this weekend. Service was quick, waiting and bar staff lovely, restaurant clean and the food was delicious! We can highly recommend the whitebait and calves liver in particular - gorgeous! If you are looking for an overall excellent dining experience then we cannot recommend the Fox and Hounds highly enough.
This has been one of my favourite pubs for years however we came for carvery on Sunday and were so disappointed, the young lady that welcomed us at the bar was not very welcomin, blonde hair in a ponytail, not at all enthusiastic looked like she would rather be somewhere else! The fly’s in the restaurant were terrible and spent the whole time fighting them off our lunch! They were landing on the meat as the chef was carving, really off putting, service was not very attentive, such a shame as I used to recommend this pub to everyone however a total disappointment so may not be returning for a while.
Food and drink ok, if a little pricy. Service very good but it was a slow night, friendly guy in charge and delightful waitress. Nice surroundings, flies bit of a pest but it was during a heatwave. Would probably return if we were more local.
Some sort of fly killer/ repellent would get the extra star !
Lovely pub and normally great food. Pastry was a little under cooked this time as were the chips which was a shame but normally perfect. So dropped one star for that
Our first visit to The Fox and Hounds and the experience will certainly lead to the first of many. We came for lunch with two friends and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the surroundings in the restaurant.
