Afternoon Tea was a delicious experience. The staff in The Amber Lounge were an absolute pleasure. Donna served us on Friday and she was really lovely. We look forward to our next stay in Fota.
Both my sister and myself ordered the prawns for starter but both didn’t like them and we should have said to waiter but didn’t at the time. The fillet steaks were lovely but could have done with more mash and veg. The desserts were lovely. The waiter was friendly and helpful.
I went for afternoon tea with my mum and 2-sisters..it was lovely..really Christmassy.. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
We really enjoyed our stay here, it was absolutely fantastic, everything about it. The place, the staff so helpful, the food was excellent, we couldn't really find fault with it, looking forward to staying again soon
The restaurant was very busy due to Santa visitors, we had a very enjoyable meal. One of my guests ordered smoked salmon salad and the greenery present was too much, and the salmon not ample. However we did bring this to the attention of the staff and a more attractive salad and more salmon was provided at no additional cost. As we were waiting quite a while for our food I did feel olives, bread would have been very welcome instead of serving bread with the main courses . It would have kept the wolf from the door. The staff were fantastic. I would return again
Had a lovely afternoon tea.Staff were so accommodating and pleasant.Real value for your money.
Afternoon tea was lovely but felt there cud have been more savoury. Other than that very nice.
Beautiful meal and amazing service! Very friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely be back!
In general, was happy enough with the hotel. However, an issue that annoyed me was the check in. Check in was 4pm and check out 11am. We arrived about 3.15pm and checked in and were told that our room wasn’t ready. Now as we knew check in was 4pm I can’t really complain but I would like to state that a 4pm check in is ridiculous. It does not take 5 hours to prepare a room and if it does you need to seriously think about changing cleaners! Anyway, as said when we arrived at 3.15pm we were told that the room wasn’t ready and that they’d call us when it was available. By 4.25pm there was still no phone call at which point I approached the desk to try ascertain what was happening. Eventually got talking to someone who went and was able to get our keys. It left me wondering how long we’d have been left there if I hadn’t approached the desk. After being on the road from early, been left hanging around for the room wasn't ideal. Other than that, the atmosphere, food, spa and room when we got there were good.
Superb Food, warm friendly attentive staff in a beatiful location
We had our afternoon tea on the October bank holiday weekend. We were in the bar restaurant area. To be honest it was extremely noisy and kids were running up and down between tables. We could barely hear ourselves talking. Not the nicest athmosphere I’ve experienced for afternoon tea. We were waiting quite a while for our food and were told there had been an issue with our order being placed. The food arrived and we had to ask for drinks again. The staff seemed to be under pressure. Food was nice, coffee was very average.
Service was excellent. We have 6 children in the group and staff were extremely accommodating. A very enjoyable dining experience. Excellent food!
Afternoon tea was lovely, confectioneries and scones were lovely, staff were excellent. Returned the following day to try have a soup and sandwich in the bar and was surprised that no food was available in the bar area. Might be worth looking into making this available
Food was nice but service very slow in bar area for lunch. Service at the bar area was also very poor. At one point there were 5 people waiting to be served with no staff visible. I would suggest table service in bar area also. We ate later in the restaurant and this was relaxing and enjoyable. Service much better.
Amazing afternoon tea, fantastic selection, staff were friendly and polite. Would definitely recommend and will be going again.
Myself and my family had a lovely afternoon tea here. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend.
My veg was not brought with meal. Had to ask for it, then they brought a different veg that looked like leftovers. Ordered dessert, they brought my husbands, I waited awhile, then flagged down a waitress to ask about my dessert. I was told they were out of it. No mention of that when I ordered it,No apology. Breakfast I ordered Eggs Benedict. The "ham" looked to be a processed meat and it was cold. Our coffee was also cold and had to request "hot" coffee. I will not ever recommend this hotel restaurant.
We had a lovely meal in a beautiful setting with exceptional attentive staff.
A lovely treat great service and fab setting
Lodge was finished to high standard and so well designed. Sun shone in back garden so we could enjoy evening drinks. Both adults and children loved it!
Lovely afternoon tea. Will def come again
Couldn't recommend fota island enough. It was absolutely outstanding from the food to the service of staff. Being just married to a chef he gives 100% marks to your pastry chef. Desserts out of this world and savouries stunning. We will be back for afternoon tea again.
Compared to other Afternoon Teas on offer in the Munster region, it was a very solid offer. Especially the Service was amazing. The food lacked a bit of finesse though but looked, tasted and felt very well done. But there was nothing really giving you the "awww, how amazing was that!" effect..So all in all Great but not Amazing!
We ate at the Fota restaurant on the August bank holiday Monday night and were somewhat disappointed. The food was good but I would not be rushing back to try it again. The service was really slow, even though the restaurant was by no means packed.
