About Fota Island
Fota Island Resort is one of the most luxurious 5 stars hotels in Ireland and provides a tempting selection of gourmet restaurants with excellent food to choose from, including fine dining at the delightful Fota Restaurant, or more casual dining in the surroundings of the Amber Lounge or The Spike Bar at the Clubhouse.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 13.00 - 16.00
Lunch menu was limited in choice, and dinner was the same menu practically, in the same place "the Amber Lounge" so a selection of gourmet restaurants quoted is inaccurate. The room was spacious, with Nespresso machine and adequate bottled water, however every time we entered we had a stale but faint drain smell partially cured by placing a towel over shower outlet. The hotel information cards had been fingered too many times and corners of cards were ragged. The bottom of door in bathroom had peeling off wood veneer, maybe a flood had been in the room, which was called as "Luxury"?? The Spa in total contrast was pure indulgence and luxury. I would use the spa again, but stay in another hotel. The sister hotel, the Kingsley is better.
Delicious vegan food made specially!
Had afternoon tea here last Saturday. I am coeliac so had the gluten free option which was lovely, got so much couldn't finish it. The service was great, we got endless pots of tea and coffee and didn't feel rushed to leave. Will definitely be back.
Had a lovely time, staff couldn't have been more helpfull
I had afternoon tea in Fota 4 years ago and standards have dropped significantly in terms of quality of food and presentation throughout the whole hotel. I would expect the same quality within a 3 star hotel. The waiting staff were however were the only 5 star attribute to be found.
Food was absolutely fabulous Service was sensational by 1 waitress There was a long delay for desert...... A mix up with cheese platter which dragged on for 20 + minutes A slight dissapointment However we thoroughly enjoyed the meal Piano music in background was very enjoyable Great songs!!
Food was mostly excellent. However, as with virtually all restaurants these days, a rare steak was served between medium rare to medium. Otherwise, everything was perfectly delightful. Cocktails were especially excellent!
Experienced fine dining at it's best last Sunday at Fota Island Resort. Had a very special Afternoon Tea with my Aunt. The finger sandwiches were delicate and light. The smoked salmon fresh. The cakes and truffles delicious and we were told to have as much tea and coffee as we liked. And the best surprise..the price. Very affordable.
If I could add more stars to this review I would . An extremely large thank you to all the staff . Exceptionally nice people .
Lovely place, but only for one night I felt. Very unfortunate that the bar menu is very limited and quite expensive! Ended up eating in the bar two nights in a row and the menu has no change at all not even a special of the day! The same piano guy played both nights too so for people with a few nights In Fota this is very repetitive. Restaurant been 50 euro per person was so expensive as well. 35 euro per head would be more affordable and encourage more people to eat there. Overall nice hotel, nice athmosphere but needs a few touches that would make it even better and more worthy of a 5 Star.
Food was delicious and service was excellent.
Great afternoon tea and atmosphere, piano playing amazing
My husband & I stayed for 1 night met some old friends & Enjoyed this wonderful relaxed atmospheric hotel for drinks after we had enjoyed all the facilities the hotel had to offer. I enjoyed a hot stone full body massage with Paula whom was amazing at her craft. We will come again.
We had a meal in Fota restaurant and both the food and service was excellent. We’d highly recommend this for an evening meal.
Found afternoon tea and the nights stay extremely pleasing. Thrilled to get an upgraded room when we arrived.
Everything from the food to the staff was absolutely brilliant..We had a beautiful room also..My wife and myself highly recommnend the hotel for a relaxing break..Absolutely devine.
Lovely waitress. Extremely friendly.
I could not have asked for a better experience. The food and service was beyond amazing. I will definitely return again!
The staff in the Fota restaurant were excellent and made dining there a memorable experience.
Afternoon tea at the Fota Island resort was lovely. There was a generous selection of delicious food. The staff were also very accommodating. I would definitely go again.
My first time having afternoon tea and I really didn't think it was that great. It seemed to be a Christmas theme which was to be expected, but I just thought the majority of the sandwiches and cakes weren't nice. The cakes weren't that sweet and one sandwich had ham, cheese and relish, but it felt like I was eating the smell of a farm. The cheese triumphed in the taste department as I'm sure it came from the wrong part of the cow! Atmosphere was great and staff were really good to deal with, but food was a let down.
Great food and nice atmosphere
Lights in the bedroom need to addressed. We could not turn off the mood lighting behind the bed. Did not matter what switch we pushed so had to sleep with it on. Tv also glitched a lot and may need servicing
My food was not hot, luke warm coming out as was my partners. Food was very low standard, would not call it 5 star. Service was very slow, had to repeatedly ask for things like our drinks etc. Was very disappointed, would not give this hotel 5 stars, would be very reluctant to return
We had to wait for high chairs even though I’d booked them specifically weeks before with the reservation. We were seated in a windowless room which was not the restaurant I had booked weeks in advance. No atmosphere. No Christmas music. Dull and disappointing.
