About Fota Island
Fota Island Resort is one of the most luxurious 5 stars hotels in Ireland and provides a tempting selection of gourmet restaurants with excellent food to choose from, including fine dining at the delightful Fota Restaurant, or more casual dining in the surroundings of the Amber Lounge or The Spike Bar at the Clubhouse.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 13.00 - 16.00
Afternoon tea was lovely, confectioneries and scones were lovely, staff were excellent. Returned the following day to try have a soup and sandwich in the bar and was surprised that no food was available in the bar area. Might be worth looking into making this available
Food was nice but service very slow in bar area for lunch. Service at the bar area was also very poor. At one point there were 5 people waiting to be served with no staff visible. I would suggest table service in bar area also. We ate later in the restaurant and this was relaxing and enjoyable. Service much better.
Amazing afternoon tea, fantastic selection, staff were friendly and polite. Would definitely recommend and will be going again.
Myself and my family had a lovely afternoon tea here. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend.
My veg was not brought with meal. Had to ask for it, then they brought a different veg that looked like leftovers. Ordered dessert, they brought my husbands, I waited awhile, then flagged down a waitress to ask about my dessert. I was told they were out of it. No mention of that when I ordered it,No apology. Breakfast I ordered Eggs Benedict. The "ham" looked to be a processed meat and it was cold. Our coffee was also cold and had to request "hot" coffee. I will not ever recommend this hotel restaurant.
We had a lovely meal in a beautiful setting with exceptional attentive staff.
A lovely treat great service and fab setting
Lodge was finished to high standard and so well designed. Sun shone in back garden so we could enjoy evening drinks. Both adults and children loved it!
Lovely afternoon tea. Will def come again
Couldn't recommend fota island enough. It was absolutely outstanding from the food to the service of staff. Being just married to a chef he gives 100% marks to your pastry chef. Desserts out of this world and savouries stunning. We will be back for afternoon tea again.
Compared to other Afternoon Teas on offer in the Munster region, it was a very solid offer. Especially the Service was amazing. The food lacked a bit of finesse though but looked, tasted and felt very well done. But there was nothing really giving you the "awww, how amazing was that!" effect..So all in all Great but not Amazing!
We ate at the Fota restaurant on the August bank holiday Monday night and were somewhat disappointed. The food was good but I would not be rushing back to try it again. The service was really slow, even though the restaurant was by no means packed.
Definitely wouldn't consider this place a five star hotel. No attention to detail, getting a bit run down (hole in bed sheet, loose bathroom fixtures) Not a nice place to go for a romantic weekend. Way too many children screaming and crying everywhere. Pool is also overrun with kids. Bar food is way over priced but restaurant was delicious. Breakfast was ok. Overall a very mediocre experience and not the 5 star one we were expected was the price we paid. Plus side, bathrooms are lovely
Amazing, cant fault a single thing.
Evening meal was first class in the restaurant. The staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful. I had the prawns for starter and they were absolutely fabulous and the same for the beef for main course.
I booked afternoon tea for 12pm for a group of 10 while but We We rent served until after 1pm. The service was shocking. Slow and wwasnt understanding of The job or services. There was no tea menu. The waitress didn't know what teas were available after telling us there was plenty on offer to find there wasn't the simplest stocked e.g.. Roiboos. I was charged for 11 people though there was only 10 of us to which I had confirmed 10 with staff the day before. We required one non alcoholic drink which came and was amazing! The food was great. The atmosphere was nice. Entire setting was good but unfortunately the service was a huge let down.
Food was great, went for afternoon tea, staff were also great, very friendly however we were waiting an hour to get served the afternoon tea but everything else was fab.
Food in the Amber lounge is average for the price it is and drinks are very expensive. Service very good and rooms are lovely, pity the doors onto the terrace don't stay open, we had to keep them open with the chairs
We went to the outside table at the golf club and it was super.i could not recommend it highly enough. Heaven on earth👍👍
Friendly helpful staff. Large room. Good spa.
Even with a reservation, staff were not expecting us and looked at me blankly when I told them we had a booking and then they said there wasn’t a table set and wanted us to wait outside until they went and set a table. Total disorganization. When we got the food, the sandwiches were not freshly made as the bread was slightly hard. When I booked I ordered one gluten free afternoon tea for my daughter who is coeliac. When her food was put in front of her, one staff member doubted if it was in fact all gluten-free, so he told us that he would check with the kitchen and he came back and said that he was told it was gluten free. We were very shocked that the waiting staff would doubt the kitchen staff capability to provide what was ordered. Then before we left as we had some food left over we asked could we take it home. Two empty boxes were placed on the table. There was no attempt by staff to package the food or take it to the kitchen for the kitchen staff to do it. We were again very surprised with the lack of customer service. We have previously had afternoon tea at other five star hotels and Fota is very far behind all these others and is no way up to 5 star service from our experience. I would not return to Fota based on this experience which was verging on an episode from the television programme “Fawlty Towers”. I did not complain during the visit as we had a visitor from London with us and I did not want to ruin the outing even further for her.
Went for Afternoon Tea with a friend. We were squished into their bar surrounded by families with kids. Served tea in the cheapest basic white “conference room type” mugs. No tea menu, hard bread on sandwiches, as if they’ve been left out too long. Plates not arranged on stand in correct order. Price discrepancy printed on menu VS what was charged/ shown on website. Just not appetizing, not special and not worth the price. €25pp would buy a nice lunch in their very casual bar. Definitely not Afternoon Tea worthy.
Brilliant food and fantastic service
Thank you for a lovely day, food was absolutely perfect, staff are the epitome of efficiency. The atmosphere was brilliant for a very special celebration. Aoife Belle graduated in UCC as a dentist and her day was made extra special as she was recognised and given a special treat . Thank you so much.
