About Fork in the Road
The Fork in the Road is a fantastic new concept. A formerly derelict building in central Middlesbrough – once the home to well-known toy store Romer Parrish – has come back to life with three distinct social enterprises. High end restaurant The Fork in the Road is a place of great food, ambience and opportunity. A number of the restaurant’s staff will always be those who’ve come through our programme designed to offer precious opportunities to those who need a helping hand – recovering addicts, ex-offenders and the long-term unemployed. The fit-out costs and working capital for this social enterprise have come from our parent charity CEO Sleepout charity and Public Health England. Opening in the not-too-distant future, our community cafe will be a great partner for The Fork. This bustling and friendly cafe will serve great good to ‘eat in’ or ‘go’ all day and will also be available for community events. As well as classic cafe eating options, you’ll also find some gorgeous and healthy dining ideas for us all to try. Launched by businessman and charity leader Andy Preston, CEO Sleepout is a Middlesbrough-based national charity that fight homelessness and the causes of homelessness throughout the UK. Our fight is funded with money raised by executives who sleep outdoors for one night to raise sponsorship from their business contacts and friends.
Poor service on Saturday night, steak off the menu and this was only at 7.45pm. Will not be in a hurry to rush back.
A lovely meal for our first visit. Enjoyed everything about it !
liked this restaurent.
Lovely setting and good. Joe was so helpful and friendly.
Staff were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable of the menu, in particular the feathered steak i ordered. Didn’t have to wait too long for food, which was well presented & delish! Atmosphere good - singer was very good- definitely would recommend
We had a table for 15 booked my only negative feedback would be the amount of time it took for the food to come out even though we pre ordered. The staff were really nice and very helpful and the food was amazing. They made a fuss of my husband as it was his birthday which was a nice touch and did apologise for the food taking so long. Would definatly come back but maybe in a smaller group
We arrived at 6pm looking forward to trying the fork in the road after hearing good reviews. After 1hour 45minutes we had only been given our starters. We had to then leave as our main meals did not arrive despite informing staff we needed to leave for a show starting at 8pm. The female staff member working on the bar was dismissive and unapologetic telling joe we needed to pay for our drinks after joe kindly told us we didn't need to as a result of our good not arriving. We left hungry, too late to eat before the show or get a drink once there. We were disappointed after hearing such good things and unfortunately the experience meant we won't be returning or recommending the fork in the road to others
Visiting my son, to take him out to lunch. He chose Fork In The Road. Great lunch and great service! We both really enjoyed it. Would definitely go again. Looking forward to seeing the Cafe opening too!
13 colleagues all enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Great evening had by all
Great food great service lovely place
we went to visit the "Fork In the Road" for our 28th anniversary meal . After wanting to visit since I heard of the concept. we managed to get there . The booking system is very good all on line, the staff are very knowledgeable with regard to the menu which was familiar but different at the same time. Not too packed but busy enough to have a great feel to the venue .The standard of the food was fantastic and we will be visiting again with friends and family .
Excellent food, good service, cost very reasonable given the food quality
Really great place to eat, fab menu & good drink selection, the four had a very pleasant time.
First time here, really friendly welcome, professional. Food really good and drinks too. Only slight issue was restaurant was very busy and not enough staff on, although staff who were there were working their socks off. Will definitely return.
Lovely food and the service is excellent.
Attentive, friendly Staff, very welcoming feel to the place. Good choice of menu food lovely, very pleasant experience ! Will return.....
First class food and great service you cannot ask for anymore than that
Food was average at best. Had to wait 40 mins for starters and only 3 out of 4 came. Deserts were cold
The service was good with friendly staff. The food was great. There was also sticky toffee desert so what more can I say.
Lovely food, lovely decoration and great service.
Service was excellent and generally we felt good value for money.
The food and drinks were both good, as was the service and value for money. The decor/atmosphere needs to be improved
Arrived early and table was ready, service was excellent and friendly and even got a drink for my birthday. Lovely staff and atmosphere, the food was exceptional, the beef melted and the carrots were done exactly how I like. I'll definitely be returning and recommending. Thanks guys!
Been many times and as always beautiful food and great value x see yah soon x
The restaurant is much bigger inside than it looks from the outside and was quite busy when we arrived at 7.30 pm It is well laid out and we were quickly seated at a comfortable table . We (4 of us) all went for same starter - the black pudding which was topped with cheese and confit onions - very tasty. 3 went for the steak and the one more adventurous of us had the sweet potato tagine which got full marks. Steaks were as expected and cooked as requested. We all had the sticky toffee as recommended by the staff and it did not disappoint.Staff throughout were friendly knowledgeable and helpful .An enjoyable evening.
