About Fork in the Road
The Fork in the Road is a fantastic new concept. A formerly derelict building in central Middlesbrough – once the home to well-known toy store Romer Parrish – has come back to life with three distinct social enterprises. High end restaurant The Fork in the Road is a place of great food, ambience and opportunity. A number of the restaurant’s staff will always be those who’ve come through our programme designed to offer precious opportunities to those who need a helping hand – recovering addicts, ex-offenders and the long-term unemployed. The fit-out costs and working capital for this social enterprise have come from our parent charity CEO Sleepout charity and Public Health England. Opening in the not-too-distant future, our community cafe will be a great partner for The Fork. This bustling and friendly cafe will serve great good to ‘eat in’ or ‘go’ all day and will also be available for community events. As well as classic cafe eating options, you’ll also find some gorgeous and healthy dining ideas for us all to try. Launched by businessman and charity leader Andy Preston, CEO Sleepout is a Middlesbrough-based national charity that fight homelessness and the causes of homelessness throughout the UK. Our fight is funded with money raised by executives who sleep outdoors for one night to raise sponsorship from their business contacts and friends.
The food and drinks were both good, as was the service and value for money. The decor/atmosphere needs to be improved
Arrived early and table was ready, service was excellent and friendly and even got a drink for my birthday. Lovely staff and atmosphere, the food was exceptional, the beef melted and the carrots were done exactly how I like. I'll definitely be returning and recommending. Thanks guys!
Been many times and as always beautiful food and great value x see yah soon x
The restaurant is much bigger inside than it looks from the outside and was quite busy when we arrived at 7.30 pm It is well laid out and we were quickly seated at a comfortable table . We (4 of us) all went for same starter - the black pudding which was topped with cheese and confit onions - very tasty. 3 went for the steak and the one more adventurous of us had the sweet potato tagine which got full marks. Steaks were as expected and cooked as requested. We all had the sticky toffee as recommended by the staff and it did not disappoint.Staff throughout were friendly knowledgeable and helpful .An enjoyable evening.
Five of us booked Sunday lunch. Was delicious and lots of vegetables for us all. Recommend to others.
What a place
Sunday lunch was fab and enjoyed by all. Staff were fantastic and very attentive.
Good food and nicely paced service and lovely to see that it is accessible
Amazing staff and service. Fantastic food. Great menu choices for all dietary needs. Lovely atmosphere.

The food here is delicious and there's a good menu to choose from. The staff are outstanding, brilliant service, and the decor is lovely. We had a great time.
Lovely atmosphere, food and service... excellent cause!
Fabulous meal which unlike many menus actually the plate and tastes lived up to the description offered, which also gave some unusual twists on some classic dishes.
We had a lovely tie the food was cooked to perfection and the staff were welcoming kind and professional. Thankyou so much.
Another great meal last night! All cooked to perfection, staff very friendly! A brilliant night thank you!
We booked using a Groupon Voucher that was due to run out within the 48 hours notice & the staff very kindly extended it for a week. We were seated straight away. Food was from the set menu with a choice of 3 or 4 meals in each course. It was delicious & was served quickly. My son got the rump steak which isn't the best cut but he said not only was it the best rump steak he'd had when dining out but the best steak he'd had dining out! All courses were of very high standard as was the service. Decor was lovely & with decent background music, it has a lovely atmosphere. Staff were very friendly & very professional. Definitely a must do.
Lovely evening - it was busy but that just added to the atmosphere - we will be back !
There was 8 of us with one of the party who needed a gluten free diet. The head waiter was great. He was extremely helpful and friendly made us feel very welcome. He was knowledgeable about dietary requirements. The food was delicious and all perfectly cooked. We all really enjoyed our meals and drinks. And such good value especially the set menu. We all love the ethos behind the restaurant. Thank you for a lovely evening We will be coming back
nice meal, good service. all in all a pleasant start to the evening. would go back again no problem and reasonably priced
Staff very friendly and helpful nothing was a problem for them. Food was hot and large portion. You sometimes find other restaurants serve lukewarm food but here it was hot. One of the best meals I have had in a long time.
Love the food, staff friendly & would recommend to everyone
Fantastic food and great service
Lovely service and great food. Will definitely be back
I mentioned in my booking myself and husband were coming for our anniversary but unfortunately nothing was done for it. Service was slow only 2 people taking orders bringing food out and doing drinks etc. Food was lovely but small portions.
