Serving the freshest fish & shellfish direct from the boats from around the South Island of New Zealand. Named one of New Zealand’s Top 50 restaurants and a recent recipient of a coveted Cuisine magazine Hat, this is the place for seafood in Queenstown.
Very fresh and a memorable experience
We ordered the steamed mussels, fish & chips, and the blue cod for our mains with a side order of broccoli and a fresh baguette. Food was average and I didn't perceive the mussels to be very fresh. I stopped eating after just one. The battered fish was good, served with a great condiment tray, but the fries tasted commercial. The broccoli and the bread were the best things we ate there. Lastly, we ordered a bottle of wine but were not told until after our meal that we could not take home what was left (2/3 the bottle). Some notice would have been appreciated. Overall, I found the the restaurant a bit overpriced for the portion and quality of the dishes (our bill was NZ&189)
The fish we got was outstanding. I thought the selection of seafood was average and not anything special on atmosphere. Wines by the glass and beer selection a little lacking. Very expensive vs what you received.. Four clams as an appetizer for $19?
If you are looking for kids overpriced portions, you found it.
Dahee (Daisy) was so friendly and professional! Taku is a great chef!
Great food and wonderful attentive staff, will be back!
We had a great time there! Great food! Great service!
Amazing seafood chowder!!
Quite uneventful experience. Would be hugely upset if i would be paying full price for the ordered dishes. Presentation, portion sizes and creativity were quite disappointing. Years ago i had a much better experience and food was delicious! We ordered a lot of appetizers, fish and chips (blue cod) and desert. Everything pretty average, especially for the price charged. Service was also quite disappointing: polite, but sour-faced.
Great food, great service, will definitely book again - next time with much bigger appetite
Sophie was a great waitress, really generous portions of food. Would recommend:)
Grill fish are good, the curry clam not nice
Fantastic food and great service, will definitely be back next time we are in Queenstown
Very glad we found this place. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was awesome! Will definitely come back next time we are in Queenstown. Thank you for a great dining experience!
Just had a very pleasant dinner on First Table at the Fishbone. All 4 of us enjoyed our meals: we shared excellent Bluff oysters and the 3 other seafood dishes and the lamb we ordered were all well prepared. Side dishes were large enough to share.A variation on pavlova for dessert was also delicious.
It‘s not a cheap restaurant but the quality of the fish is worth it! The oysters and mussles were amazing! Only the salmon steak was with bones!
Best food we’ve had on our month’s tour of all kind of star foodie restaurants in all New Zealand: no blobs of unknown colours and tastes, just really excellent fish and vegetables and salad and super wine (recommended on the menu). Thank you.
The food was amazing
Our choice of blue cod and sole, was superb and made even more memorable by the delightful Swedish hostess. We will be back!
As per usual the Meal was perfect. Many Thanks.
Food is good service can be better.
