Opened in January 2013, Field is all about the quality of local, seasonal produce. Proud to be Scottish and showcase our country’s larder, the menus reflect our region’s gastronomic heritage.
This was our third visit and was as good as each previous meal. A straightforward menu offering excellent food served by staff who were both efficient and friendly. A great wine list with some different choices to try. Will definitely be back - hopefully often
Brought three new friends to Field and they were all impressed by the food and the value for money. Hope to be back soon.

Very poor portion size - main dish could have been a starter in quantity The price of wine by the glass is prohibitive and extortionate! Very disappointed. If I did not have guests with me, I would have definitely complained to management on the spot Could not recommend unfortunately. One star is too much

Another very enjoyable evening at Field. Good food and wine; friendly and helpful service. Particularly enjoyed the rabbit and the Hochar wine.
Interesting and well priced wine list. We mixed and matched from the a la carte and set lunch menu, with a chicken and parmesan mouse starter from the set menu, very well balanced flavours, a perfectly cooked plaice and absolutely fabulous peanut butter thing for desert!
Wonderful meal with the best of local produce. The mackerel and rabbit loin were superb.The service was excellent.
We had a very enjoyable meal at Field, with some seriously tasty and well thought out food. I have dietary restrictions and the waiter was extremely helpful and patient with me, while we worked out what would be possible. We will be back when we have our next Festival outing!
Always come to Field when we are in Edinburgh. They have maintained a high standard consistently over the years. Looking forward to our next visit already!

The very friendly staff add to the ambiance of this restaurant but it is the food that sells it. There may be only 4/5 choices for each course but every one is a winner. If the smoked chicken is on the menu as a starter don’t bother looking elsewhere!
Serving pappardelle so overdone it's disintegrating is unforgivable and should have been spotted by someone before it reached my table.
A real find- great service, lovely Sourdough bread. My husband had the rump steak medium rare and it was perfect. I had plaice and it was delicious. Would highly recommend.
Had a pre-concert meal at the Jazz & Blues festival. Staff were really, really helpful in accommodating our strange wishes and getting us away in time. Very interesting wines. We'll be back for a full meal next time we're in Edinburgh
All round excellence....friendly staff, smashing food, lovely atmosphere....super lunch.
An interesting menu. Not sure about the smokey bacon ice cream but the rest of the food was first class.
