Farmyard is a Norwich based 'Bistronomy' style restaurant, where a relaxed 'bistro' experience meets the top quality produce and vibrant flavours normally found in "gastronomic" fine dining joints. Everything is prepared in our open kitchen, including the sourdough bread, baked every day using our "mother" and our handmade butter. Meat, fish and vegetables are cooked over charcoal on our "Bertha" oven for incredible flavour.
Our approach is simple; handpicked ingredients, great cooking, carefully chosen wine and knowledgeable service in a refreshingly contemporary space.
thankyou so much, what a lovely meal!
Friendly and approachable staff. Food always delicious.
Brilliant service, great food.
Never disappoints, fantastic meal, service and atmosphere, our favourite place for a special meal with friends.
Best meal we had during our stay in Norwich. Good ingredients, well cooked, and an imaginative way of getting us to eat kale! Delicious ginger pudding. Good range of sherries.
Everything was very good
We enjoyed out visit very much. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and efficient . The food was beautifully cooked . There was an interesting choice to tempt our tastebuds . We will definitely come back here when visiting Norwich again. Thank you
Lovely restaurant with a great relaxed atmosphere. Food very well priced and delicious. Friendly, helpful staff. Will definitely return.
We had an excellent meal here on Saturday evening, all six of us were raving about our meals and the service was excellent! Will be back 😄
Lovely food at a very good price
Myself and my husband booked Farmyard as a rare date night meal without the children, we consider ourselves to be fairly good in the kitchen at home and therefore were looking for somewhere that could serve us better quality food that we could create ourselves. Farmyard was suggested to us by a few friends. Upon entering we were greeted with a smile and asked if we had a reservation, we were shown to our table and the hostess offered to take our coats and asked if would would like some still or sparkling water for the table. Our table was situated right in front of the kitchen so we had the perfect view. Soon after our server made us aware of the menu, including the drinks menu and specials. We agreed on a bottle of house white and were left to make our food choices. The menu is relatively small, but I see that as a sign of carefully created recipes. The server approached us twice to see if we had made our choices, we didn’t feel rushed into making the decision. My husband chose brancaster mussels for stater and roasted pumpkin and polenta for main whilst I chose the roasted pumpkin with goats cheese for started and the horse mackerel, cooked in Bertha the charcoal oven from the specials menu for main. It was suggested that we have a side dish between us so we opted for triple cooked chips as the ones coming out of the kitchen looked rather delicious. We did question having the sharing steak for main but both pieces left were over 1kg in weight and we are not huge meat eaters so decided against it. We didn’t have to wait long to receive our starters, my pumpkin was presented beautifully and tasted fantastic, my husband shared a could of his mussels and they tasted incredible, I had a slight food envy over his choice. Our table was cleared and our mains brought over, my mackerel was much larger than I had imagined it to be, and was cooked to perfection, moist and seasoned perfectly. The light shredded salad it came with was the perfect accompaniment. My husband said his pumpkin was delicious, although he didn’t let me try any. We worked our way through our meals without touching the chips until we had cleared our plates, the side wasn’t needed but we still finished them off in the end. We decided against having desert and asked for the bill but we’re left to finish our bottle of wine at our own pace. The price of the meal was very reasonable for the quality of food we received and the service was fantastic from all members of staff. We even received thanks from the chefs of the way out. We will certainly be booking again for Our next date night and we look forward to seeing how the menu changes with the season.
Original slant of dishes makes them fresh and new. Relaxed interior and open kitchen. Love the paintings and the vibe. My third time. will come again when I've saved up!
Well presented & well cooked food in a friendly atmosphere.
The food was very tasty but the portions were tiny.
the guy who served us (think hes new with glasses and a beard) was so lovely and chatty, great choice for birthday meal
Great meal, restaurant was full on a Thursday night so great atmosphere. Thanks to all.
It was our first time to Norwich so had to choose a restaurant from reviews in the internet. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The service was efficient ( complementary still and sparkling water) , the atmosphere was great ( no loud music) the Rioja was delicious and the food was excellent. Don’t be put off by menu descriptions - the food is great.
Amazing good food. It’s a must visit if you are in Norwich
Excellent service and lovely food. Visit during restaurant week makes it superb value
Really lived our first visit. Great atmosphere and theatre. Pheasant croquette was amazing as was the duck leg main and bavette. But disappointed with the coconut rice pudding. Lacked coconut flavour and texture too light. Would definitely visit again.
It was our first time visiting the Farmyard, we came here for Norwich Restaurant Week and enjoyed the overall vibe of the restaurant. The service was amazing (didn't catch the name of the lady who served us) and value for money on the food was great too! My only nitpick was that the starter portion of the squid was really greasy and only had 4 tiny portions for £3.50 which we thought was a bit small and the fat on the duck (main course) hadn't been rendered down so it was chewy and inedible. Otherwise the experience was overall pleasant.
Excellent food and service
Very patient service while we waited for very late guests. Delicious food and interesting wine, as usual. A lovely lunch.
Lovely meal and a welcoming relaxed atmosphere
Took two friends along for a meal during restaurant week, they hadn’t been to Farmyard before. We had a fantastic time, everything from service to food to atmosphere was spot on! Both friends have vowed to bring their partners and other friends along as they enjoyed it so much. Andrew and his team have excelled!
