About Elliot's Cafe
Brick-walled cafe with a seasonal menu cooked on a wood-fired grill, plus biodynamic wines.
Having made two visits recently, having known some of the founding members of Elliots, as I was a trader at BM for about 17 years. I was on both occasions very disappointed in the the service, as were my two different companions. The staff are very charming but needed some chasing up to supply further wine, slowed again by the waitress to bar to waitress to customer supply chain which went wrong on each occasion. On the 12th two customers on an adjacent table cancelled part of their order and left for a meeting unsatisfied. Staff seemed to enjoy interacting more with their colleagues than customers. Perhaps a slight under-training, or understaffing? Elliots is (was?) a great place. My companion on the 12th said she would not consider ever returning. Your loss alas.
Just a little loud to have a quiet conversation but otherwise - perfect. A gem of a restaurant.
Great food.. Lovely people..
Unexpected flavour combinations work so well!
Nice atmosphere friendly staff great fish
Honestly, the food was good but way too expensive. 95£ for 2 people for the size and type of food we had (we did not even have 2 mains....and it was not even the steak)...I think the wine was definitely the worst...not in terms of quality as it was good but 28£ for a wine in a box?? I buy all my food organic and fresh and even if good food costs more, it does not cost that much. It feels like we are paying for the location mostly...but given experiences in other central London restaurants, it definitely is much more expensive for similar quality
A good evening despite some hiccups in service (you seemed slightly understaffed though one waiter was v new, though really good. We hated plastic straws and here was another mix up with my admittedly grumpy companion (( medication rather than personality). Food excellent though the least expensive (Languedoc?) red was a disappointment. THe Greek red was excellent. Pigs ears a revelation. Thanks. Mains seem expensive. I know what a Mallard costs at Borough Market so the cooked version seemed too much of a markup. I ran a business at BM for nearly 20 years and have known Elliots since its start. Keep up the good work.
Lovely burger! Will definitely recommend to others.
Quite hard to get in touch regarding the booking - email? And a few broken links on the website but the actual dinner was amazing
My third and very disappointing, previously welcoming and staff engaged with diners not this time. Menu has changed, for the worse and some options unavailable at 20:00.
Hi Michael, We're very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your time with us at Elliot's - we always strive to offer the best possible service. Please be aware that because our meat and fish come from small suppliers- line caught and sustainably farmed, each day we have a limited amount of certain menu items for each service. We hope you will give us another chance in the future to make it up to you. If you would like to book another time please email us and we'll be sure to look after you. Our address is [email protected]
Keep coming back as your burger is simply the best!
Absolutely gorgeous food and brilliant service. Staff were knowledgeable about the wine and the food was served with pride - and rightly so. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Really enjoyed the food. Unique dishes and extremely tasty. The staff were friendly. I'd recommend a visit!
we had a lovely evening and would recommend this highly to anyone!
I love Elliot's. I adore the cheese puffs :) the menu on Saturday just didn't hit the spot for the 3 of us so I'm afraid we ate elsewhere that evening. We like eclectic and different types of food but none of the dishes worked for us - sorry. We will definitely return.
Staff are very helpful and friendly. And the curly haired guy that created me and sat me at my table was lovely.
Outstanding restaurant run by really good people who obviously care about their business and about food.
Great burger (without the onions).
One of my favourite restaurants in London
Second visit was as great as the first.
Waitress decided to take of her shoes and lie down for a sleep at table next to us as she was tired....um....is that appropriate when I’m being charged nearly 400 quid for 4 people to have lunch? Really poor food as well, although decent wine. Would not go back.
Nice food and vibe
Very good staff. I really appreciated that they didn’t rush us out the door even when we lingered over our wine and they clearly needed to clear out. Also not afraid to have a chat!
Delicious mackerel. All plates were yummy.
