About The Restaurant at Ellenborough Park
With modern British influences and discreet service, dinner in our restaurant is second to none. Arguably one of Cheltenham's best restaurants. Indulge in a delicious three-course dining experience or join us for a traditional Sunday Lunch.
Very well looked after and had a most enjoyable family pre-Christmas lunch.
Excellent service - would go back again!
Used to come to Ellenborough once a month to enjoy meals and atmosphere. Was disappointed this time when came for a Christmas party... Only two of seven of us liked their main meals, starters were good though. Not sure coming there again...
excellent presentation and delicious food huge table the staff couldn't reach across for 2 people lacking in atmosphere - a bit like a library I would recommend it for food The atmosphere you could definitely do something with.. not seat everyone around the edge of the room.. make it more intimate
Service in restaurant poor. Finished plate sat in front of me for 20+ mins certainly not 5 star service etc. Asked for extra bread told would be charged £4.50 (frankly incredible !!)
The Veal from the Mains was unfortunately very fatty and quite chewy, and served with far too much mash! However, the crab starter was delightful!
Restaurant was quite cold and devoid of any atmosphere. Food was average with poor main courses. Extras were extremely expensive - £5 for five small carrots was simply ridiculous. It's a great hotel in a great setting but the restaurant is not great and we wouldn't return
Absolutely loved the venison! And the Lady Ellenborough Gin cocktail was delicious!! Great service from the boys too, I’ve already recommended this restaurant to a few friends whose horses run at cheltenham each year. Fabulous food! Highly recommend dining here!!
Magnificent food, excellent service. We will be coming back every year for our anniversary!
Everything ,except our initial meeting with one of the restaurant staff, was very good. The problem we had was that although we were on-time it seemed to us that we were being accused of being late and therefore could not go to the bar and we needed to go immediately to our table because the restaurant was very busy. We did so but no other guests arrived into the restaurant for some time. This was not a good start to a special evening for my wife and myself. However, there were welcome apologies from the rest of the staff . In fact the professionalism of the staff and quality of the food and drinks more than made up. I believe the hiccup was probably due to a bit more training being required to avoid staff sounding officious and discourteous. But we will definitely be returning when we can.
Amazing meal and service. Highly recommend the restaurant at Ellenborough Park
Private Dining room used for party, everything was superb, thank you :-))
Food was excellent and very good value for money. Friendly and helpful staff. We had our coffee in the recently refurbished Gallery with a roaring fire, it finished off the lunch beautifully.
Having been married at Ellenborough Park in 2013, we were delighted to celebrate our anniversary here. As always the food was delicious, the service excellent and the ambience very special.
Service has been much better on previous visits. Although service was friendly and pleasant, there were many personal touches that were just lacking. Our coats were not taken to the cloakroom, drinks menus had to be requested, no dinner menus given to look at whilst having predinner drinks, we were not invited to be seated at our table for dining, the wrong set of cutlery was presented for the main course, we were offered dessert menu before we had been served our main course, our table was not brushed down, wine not topped up, no offer to order our taxi. These lack of personal touches is why only two stars for service and value. When you pay for one of Cheltenham's best restaurants you also expect the best service in town.
The hotel and building itself is amazing and the staff all very attentive. Our evening meal: My boyfriend loved the artichoke soup and the chestnut pasta main course. I didn't really enjoy my starter and main unfortunately. I had the salmon starter which was a bit strong and more orange would have been great. The veal main was extremely fatty and wasn't to my taste at all, so I left most of it. The desserts however were amazing. My BF had the snow egg and loved it and I had the violet meringue which was so inventive and gorgeous, it made up for the veal.
We loved the way you looked after us for my fathers birthday - thank you.
Throughly enjoyed our private family lunch in excellent surroundings with great service.perfect for a special occasion.will certainly use again.
Mr Fortune Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your time with us. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. Kind regards The Restaurant Team
Attentive but not intrusive service. Stunning food with combinations I had not had before. Beautiful character dining room.
Probably some of the nicest food I have ever eaten. Staff are exceptional and the venue stunning!
I always love the food at Ellenborough Park. The range of drinks is excellent. The staff who serve are wonderful. I love eating in the Bistro itself and equally in the main restaurant. I am always very happy to eat at Ellenborough Park and I have brought friends to eat here in the past and would do so again.
Great stay thank you 😊 excellent service
Service courteous, but slow. Probably more kitchen staff is needed. Also we were supposed to receive a hamper for our homeward journey. We remembered it on the other side of Cheltenham. Should it not have been waiting for us when we checked out? Other than that e enjoyed our stay and found the hotel staff extremely helpful.
High quality food and generally strong service (mix of experienced and inexperienced, the former excellent). Nice atmosphere and lovely room. But charging (£4) for bread? Come on, you're not Zizzi.
