About East Beach Cafe
Our food is classic English, including seaside favourites such as fresh, locally caught fish, East Beach beef burger, day boat fish soup and traditional fish & chips with pea puree. Additionally, we feature some of the best cuisine inspired by beach holidays abroad including our most popular dish, salt & pepper squid with chilli.
Excellent evening, thanks so much. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The added bonus was the entertainment that had been organised to celebrate a 60th birthday party! We'll be returning again soon, that's for sure!
dreadful service ruined our special lunch - chaotic restaurant management - i had to go and ask for service - all of our drinks were wrong or badly made and took 3/4 of an hour to arrive - i had to ask three times for bread and it was of poor quality when it eventually came - poorly trained staff and incompetent manager - such a disappointing experience d for a special family event - and overpriced too - soggy chips and lumpy avocado puree with hard chunks of avocado in it - oh dear - we left as soon as we could and didn't dare risk the dreary selection of puddings
we had a delicious meal including elderflower spritz and crab (with a bucket of chips) which was really fresh and tasty. The service was efficient and friendly and much better than we expected in a beach cafe. A welcome change to have service with a smile! Will definitely make the journey and be revisiting!
The fish platter was sublime
A fresh as the sea air seafood platter, served in a stunning location with possibly the friendliest waiter ever. A memorable dining experience from a fantastic restaurant. Highly recommended.
We all enjoyed our lunches but, as the cafe was full, the noise levels were high and we had difficulty hearing one another speak.
Great place, quirky architecture & upmarket Beach cafe-cum-restaurant, lovely food, great staff, easy atmosphere. Easy parking (pay & display). Would visit again when in the area.
Excellent, honest food in a spectactual setting. Loved it!
Hi, I had the crab salad as a main and I have to say I was hugely disappointed. For 13.50 I expected to get a whole dressed crab but was presented with a soggy salad comprising mostly of lettuce and overpowering red onion in a mayonnaise dressing. There was hardly any crab and no accompanying bread etc. Big let down from a restaurant that prides itself on its fish.
We cannot fault the food or service however we were disappointed how bland the interior was. I had seen this in Coast Magazine a while back and thought it would be more special.
An annual visit - so looking forward to our lobster & chips - unfortunately you had sold out of lobster but my friend & I had a fabulous meal - fish cooked to perfection ! Truly scrumptious - thank you 🐳🐳🐳
All 3 courses were very good, plus good service. A lovely dining experience.
We go there occasionally as we live in West Surrey. We have always had great food, service is excellent, not too pricey but always good value. The location is one of the real draws for this restaurant as it sits directly in the promenade overlooking the pebbled beach and sea. We will continue to visit the East Beach Cafe on a periodic basis.
I understand you are a fish restaurant, but you do need to cater better for vegetarians. Choices of desserts was also extremely limited (choice of one!) The service was patchy, going from excellent to under-par, and had few too many people asking how our food was (felt like every few mouthfuls.
Loved the fish soup. Good, friendly service, and very good value for money.
The East Beach Cafe is a May Bank Holiday weekend regular for us and this was our 4th visit. Sadly we were a bit disappointed this time. Although the restaurant was not full, the staff seemed run off their feet and so service was quite slow, particularly with drinks. It was a hot evening and we were desperate for a drink. Fish was lovely but the chips were under-cooked and there is really no excuse for that. Hoping it was a one off ...
We were a party of 2 adults and 2 children (3 years old and six months) The service and food were excellent. Both the adult portion of food and the child portion were just right and tasted delicious. We will definitely visit again.
Delicious food, the mackerel was huge! Great table and wonderful weather. A great time as usual,
Lovely beach cafe with tables facing the beach, food tasty And efficent service with a smile Liked the special board for dishes of the day
Quite hectic with staff and customers constantly moving between tables
Fish and Chips were good. Very pleasant staff. A little spartan side decor wise. A bit smaller than I'd imagined from the pics on the website.
This was a very disappointing visit (after many excellent ones).. The service was extremely poor and disorganised from the outset- we had to ask for everything, menus, children's colouring materials ( these are all usually offered very quickly), drinks were forgotten and worst of all our order for mains did not go through. We had to ask after waiting nearly half an hour. We had two young children with us and my husband who has diabetes had injected his insulin expecting the arrival of the mains. W were apologised to but quite frankly, I did rather expect a reduction on the bill at least. We were having a day out as a treat and normally the cafe is the highlight but this time it rather put a cloud on the day ( which fortunately was sunny)
Food was delicious, amazing view, perfect evening.
We enjoyed our visit, with a some lovely food. The service was friendl and relaxed if a little disorgainsied at times with a number of requests having to be repeated or chased. The fish stew was lacking a depth of flavour but the rest of the food enjoyed by the others in our on 5 strong group was good. The Sussex IPA was very enjoyable. Glad we booked in advance!
We had a lovely table overlooking the beach and were much entertained by the kite/windsurfers and jetskiers. My wife and I had the crab salad which had too much chilli for me (the menu did not mention chilli, so I sent it back and it was replaced) and my wife said that the chilli cloaked any taste of crab. My mother had kedgeree which had too much curry for her taste. The fish and chips were good and the sticky toffee pudding was excellent.
