About Dux Dine
Dux Dine is situated in a historic turn-of-the-century Villa that was originally the Station Masters House for the Riccarton Railway.
The villa has been extensively but sympathetically reworked to provide a variety of spaces to be enjoyed whether it be an intimate candlelit dinner for two, a large group celebration at one of the huge Kauri tables, grabbing a morning coffee at the breakfast bar, enjoying a drink in the Lounge room, meeting friends for lunch in the sun drenched verandah or enjoying a platter in the sheltered verdant courtyard.
The original homeliness of the villa has been maintained making Dux Dine welcoming and very comfortable but with many fun and quirky elements to be discovered and revealed over subsequent visits. Come and enjoy our famous Dux hospitality and discover your favourite spot to be.
My favourite restaurant!
Would like to suggest getting a water filter now its been chlorinated it tastes foul. (not your fault we know) The lovely waitress manged to get us two glasses but I know when busy this maybe more difficult.
This restaurant has it all. It is close to the city, looks great from the outside and when you get inside there are lots of areas to eat in and the decor suits the place. The staff are welcoming and the food is excellent. From the entree through to the dessert everything tasted excellent. We were not kept waiting. One delicacy we wanted had sold out, but then that's the quality of the people who eat there. Well be back !
We had a wonderful waitress (Canadian accent). Professional but friendly and made us feel very comfortable
A most enjoyable meal and evening. Definitely coming back.
Still my favourite restaurant in Christchurch
Great food and service
We had a theatre booking after and the staff were very good about ensuring we’d be able to leave on time.
Excellent food, great friendly service. The only downside for me was that we were sat at a table by the front window and I found it too dark. I would certainly come back though.
The Dux Dine is exceptionally clean and tidy. The team are quick, thoughtful and caring. There's nothing like it with the cute minimal art and perfect lighting. Dux Dine has my favourite meal in the whole town. Thank you for being patient with the older generation too, you do do well !
Dining in such a large group with a relatively tight time constraint, I was a bit anxious that we would end up being late to our subsequent engagement. The service, however, was very efficient, and in retrospect I had no cause for concern. The food was very good, and my only tiny criticism is a very superficial one: that the heating on the verandah was too high, which is, of course, not a cardinal sin (especially in May). Another small issue I had concerned my contact with Dux Dine about the function enquiry. It took a while after my initial request to receive information about menus etc, and some of my requests to alter details about the booking took a few days at times, since I had to ring when the right personnel were working. Having one point of contact through email or something similar would have been much more simple on my part; however, I accept that there are always practical constraints and difficulties in hospitality work, and at the end of the day that is also a relatively superficial worry. Overall, a very enjoyable and pleasant meal with great service.
Service was lovely but I was disappointed with the quality of the food. Fish was very chewy and I have had better experiences in the past. Also the ensemble of the fish dish has been of a higher standard in the past. I had the tuna, which came with sweet potato fries.
All ways great food
Thai, our waiter, was outstanding. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals and drinks.
Enjoyable experience. Attentive, friendly staff.
Always good as per usual
Had an absolutely fabulous time,we love coming to Dux Dine
Great atmosphere and very helpful and friendly staff all around. The food was very good and we were all happy with our choices. We were a little disappointed that we weren't able to order from the brunch menu as this was only available from 11:00 (we booked for 10:00). This is clearly stated on the website and the menus however, and I accept that I missed it so I'll be sure to book accordingly next time.
Had lunch at the Dux on Saturday with family and parents. My 5yo boy enjoy the pond and the fish in the Garden. The food and service were excellent, all 6 of us really enjoyed the meal. Just one little thing, when my boy's lunch was served, some chips drop off from the plate which made him upset. We later explained to the waitress and ask for a handful of chip to keep him happy, but in the end we received a small bowl and was charged for it.
Car parking is an issue when there is no street parking available due to the continual road works. I know that you can't do anything about that, but I won't be back until that gets sorted.
Enjoyable lunch thank you
An absolutely delightful experience from the greeting at the door to the gorgeous food on the table. The only down side is having to leave. Keep up the great work. Love, love, love the menu.
It’s a recommend from me. Great service and food.
