About Dumfries Arms Hotel
Our relaxing restaurant offers a unique dining experience with comfortable booth seating and menus that will cater for all tastes and appetites.
No matter how hungry you are, we will have an option for you in our restaurant. Why not choose from our tempting main menu which has some of our tried and tested dishes on it, along with a selection of the chef’s specials for that day?
Not that hungry? During the day we offer our light bite menu, providing you with a selection of lighter dishes to choose from. For those looking to eat earlier in evening, we have our early bird menu. Something for everyone and real home cooked food at its best. Should you have any dietary requirements then please let us know and we will be happy to accommodate.
In our private dining room or at one of our larger restaurant tables, we can offer parties of 10 or more a selection of our favourite dishes on a slightly reduced menu. Individual requirements can be discussed and the option to have two or three courses can also be made available. At the Dumfries Arms we pride ourselves on our flexible approach.
Lovely meal with very attentive staff
Wonderful visit, staff were outstanding. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely meal and the staff couldn’t have been better.
Service was quite slow, food was OK but a few things not available from the menu.
Lovely meal which was great value for money, staff all friendly and attentive. First time I have visited for a while and will not be leaving it as long until the next visit!
Fantastic evening and very well organised thank you
Staff were really helpful and great with the kids. A lovely meal was had by all of us.
Hotel itself was nice enough. Didn’t receive drinks ordered with dinner, and my partners garlic bread arrived stale. Chips were definitely not hand cut, obviously frozen. Bed quite small for a double and room felt a bit cramped. Overall an ok night away but would not recommend to others based on this experience and would not return. Described as a “boutique” hotel but that is a bit of a stretch to say the least...
Excellent service and food was great. Well priced and great value for money.
Great service and value for money
Great value for money it was steak night, were you got one and one for free. On a negative new menu was confusing. But definitely will be back.
Waiter couldn’t do enough for us very friendly service and food was fantastic as always
Service wasn’t great sat for a while in between courses.
Food was acceptable for the price paid. However, we did order a bottle of wine which was just placed in front of us! On asking we were told by the waitress she was underage therefore unable to serve us alcohol, we were expected to open and serve ourself which I think is unacceptable for a restaurant!
Had a really enjoyable meal and the staff were really helpful and were so friendly especially Ross the bar man he was so friendly and helpful.
Great food and service
Food was good although some items missing from our dinnner. I ordered steak pie but there were no Brussels. The Christmas pudding was tiny and certainly not worth £4. The service was really good especially Morgan who was fab
Excellent food served hot. Staff friendly and efficient.
Staff are really friendly and chat to you which makes a difference
quality of cereal and bacon at breakfast could be improved
Beautiful restaurant and surroundings. Staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful and very attentive without being over powering. We were made to feel comfortable even with a baby and 4 year old in tow. Food was delicious and kids menu had good variety. My only criticism (and it was more from my husbands point of view) is that the main courses were rather on the small side. Actually is was a perfect amount for me but my husband is a big man that enjoys his grub and his meal was a little small. Starter and desserts were more than adequate though. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and will definitely visit again.
Good service and food.
Unfortunately, the email link ([email protected]) at the ResDiary website was broken, so I was unable to amend the booking as I had wished. I emailed Reception to request a change, but received no acknowledgment. The staff did well to serve 8 of us within the limited time at our disposal. The Fish & Chips went down well with the children, but the Roast Beef was very disappointing: only the gravy giving the dish any flavour at all. Most disappointing was the lack of any gluten-free dish, despite having advised the need at the time of booking. It really doesn’t take long to produce a simple jus instead of flour-thickened gravy: my wife’s “Roast Beef with all the trimmings” ended up comprising only dry, tasteless, over-cooked meat and over-cooked broccoli. Could do better!
My husband liked his veg lasagne. I found the lamb a bit ordinary, too much gravy and would have liked more veg or salad. Puddings very good.
Lovely meal, great service and worthy of comment.
