About Duke of Edinburgh Hotel
Here at the Duke of Edinburgh, we offer delicious quality food, sourced from local suppliers, and created for you by our dedicated team of chefs. Our intimate Bistro restaurant seats twenty eight people and provides the perfect setting, seven days a week, for a relaxing meal with friends, family or colleagues. In addition we have our Vaults Restaurant, which can seat over fifty people and also offers an intimate cocktail bar.
Our Head Chef is Mr Andrew Webber, formerly from The Black Cock Inn at Broughton in Furness. Prior to his last four year role in Broughton, he enjoyed a fantastic career with some quality local establishments, including The Armadale and The Custom House. Andrew takes great personal care over every element of his menu, from the traditional, casual dining options through to the finely crafted options. Using the latest cooking equipment including Sous Vide, Rationale ovens and other modern methods, Andrew has combined traditional standards with modern techniques. This is not a microwave kitchen!
All our quality food is made from the best ingredients, sourced from local suppliers, and is lovingly created by our hard-working team of chefs. Much of our fish is caught locally by Morecambe Bay fishing vessels, our meat is selected from local butchers, vegetables arrive from a Lancashire based supplier and we try to bake much of our bread on site.
The afternoon tea was such good value for money, the quality of the food was superb and the amount of sandwiches and cakes for the three of us was perfect. The staff were polite and attentive.
Good menu, food well prepared and presented, selection of craft beers excellent
Excellent food and service. Hadn’t realised the Vault area downstairs, where we ate our meal, even existed. Menu choice was excellent too. Would recommend and will be back. Thank you.
Food and service was top notch as always. Great menu choices and the staff are very helpful. Would definitely recommend
The bathroom of our executive room hadn’t been cleaned efficiently as we found multiple hairs in the bathtub and toilet seat underneath. Our food at the dinner service had to be sent back due to the waitress’ lack of attention to our food intolerances that we told her multiple times. She spoke over us to other colleagues whilst stood right over our table. She didn’t apologise for the food mistakes and didn’t tell us how long it would take for the new food to come out. She didn’t create a nice atmosphere for our dinner service. Our breakfast experience wasn’t great either. When we went down, we weren’t greeted by anyone or told where to sit. We were sat for 15 minutes before anyone came over. None of the tables were set with cutlery or have any breakfast menus and when the waitress finally brought a menu over, we were rushed to pick and hen had to wait a further 25 minutes for two eggs benedict. In the end we had an poointment to get to so didn’t even get to taste the breakfast that you have to pay an extra £10 per person for. Very disappointed with the service and food provided at this hotel. Only positive thing about our stay was how comfy the bed was.
Excellent service and value.
We had a lovely time The food was excellent and the service was impeccable We will be recommending your establishment to everyone we know !!!!
Great meal at Jamaican night. Really efficient service .
Great place, really good vibe
Lovely meal, great service from Florina, very professional and efficient
We came to the Duke of Edinburgh for Valentine's. All the food was excellent, as was the wine and service. We had the special Valentine's menu, which had plenty of variety and was excellent value.
We had a very large booking with visitors from all across Europe. Staff at the Duke of Edinburgh were helpful, supportive, flexible and proactive during both the preparation for the visit and during the meal itself. We cannot express how thankful we were for the excellent service they provided and would not hesitate to book again.
Better to book by phone rather than online. All the staff were very attentive and happy to help. Very nice food and ambiance.
The prawn cocktail starter had a strange taste (I think it was the sauce). My wife and I returned it, the staff were very accommodating & it was taken off the bill. All the rest of the food was very nice especially the roast dinners which were excellent value
Service was fantastic and the environment was warm, welcomming and staff were pleasant and very helpful!
The service and food quality has greatly improved over the last year
Beef was quite tough and whole meal was luke warm, been here twice before and always been very good, not as nice this time 20/01/2019
Food was very nice, waitress is a star, friendly and a dry sense of humour, will come back.
Staff are friendly, food is always good. Would definitely recommend
Excellent service, booking online was so easy, really good food. Will be returning
The restaurant was very busy but our food arrived quickly & the staff were all friendly in spite of having meals to serve in the bar, bistro, and the Vault.
Excellent food and service as always.
