About Duke of Edinburgh Hotel
Here at the Duke of Edinburgh, we offer delicious quality food, sourced from local suppliers, and created for you by our dedicated team of chefs. Our intimate Bistro restaurant seats twenty eight people and provides the perfect setting, seven days a week, for a relaxing meal with friends, family or colleagues. In addition we have our Vaults Restaurant, which can seat over fifty people and also offers an intimate cocktail bar.
Our Head Chef is Mr Andrew Webber, formerly from The Black Cock Inn at Broughton in Furness. Prior to his last four year role in Broughton, he enjoyed a fantastic career with some quality local establishments, including The Armadale and The Custom House. Andrew takes great personal care over every element of his menu, from the traditional, casual dining options through to the finely crafted options. Using the latest cooking equipment including Sous Vide, Rationale ovens and other modern methods, Andrew has combined traditional standards with modern techniques. This is not a microwave kitchen!
All our quality food is made from the best ingredients, sourced from local suppliers, and is lovingly created by our hard-working team of chefs. Much of our fish is caught locally by Morecambe Bay fishing vessels, our meat is selected from local butchers, vegetables arrive from a Lancashire based supplier and we try to bake much of our bread on site.
As usual, we were looked after so very well. There had been quite a lot of confusion regarding the number of members who would be attending.Several had been taken ill and had sent their apologies at short notice. However, Barry and his team dealt with everything in their usual, calm manner and we had the most delicious meals. Thank you so much! Jane Smith (Secretary Barrow Inner Wheel)
Shame you ran out of cheese and biscuits and starter belly pork was not crispy but overall the food was lovely Staff were helpful and attentive although a finger bowl should be provided automatically when serving shell on prawns
The Duke is our go to place and we settle in for the night. Karen is fabulous and goes above and beyond to help, good wine and a good choice of drinks. The food is lovely but I struggle as a vegetarian on the Sunday menu. Everything on offer is chilli-based. Spicy soup, thai halloumi and chilli. Luckily the halloumi wasn't spicy at all and was very tasty but that was really my only choice. The other two were more than happy with their meals of a burger and a roast. We love sitting in a booth which I requested when booking and we weren't disappointed. The only negative feedback I would give is mute the TV!
Food was lovely- great service - thank you
The Barrow Inner Wheel Christmas Party began with two ladies, who hadn't booked their meals, turning up! I can't thank all the staff enough for the calm, efficient way in which they dealt with what could have been a huge problem. As Secretary, I feel responsible for the smooth running of our meetings and I apologise profusely for the mix-up. The two ladies were duly served and we all had a wonderful time. The food was superb and beautifully presented and tasted divine, too! Thank you so much for your patience. Happy Christmas to you all. Yours in Friendship, Jane Smith (Secretary Barrow Inner Wheel)
Everything was spot on.... just when I see CRISPY belly pork I kinda think it will be crispy and it wasn’t.... but it still tasted beautiful! Bad that the whole 3 course were full of flavour and really really tasty!! The service was some of the best I have had in the area and couldn’t complain about it what so ever, credit to the restaurant!!
Lovely Sunday Roast. Good friendly service 👍
Had a lovely meal served by very professional and polite staff. It was a pleasure to eat there
We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch food was very nice and good value. The staff were lovely and friendly too.
I had booked Afternoon tea for a specific Birthday and to find the savory side was simply just 3 finger sandwiches and crisps was very disappointing, I would have likes to see minni sausage rolls or minni scotch eggs just something other than sandwiches. The sweets were lovely and the surroundings and atmosphere was lovely.
As always, we were well looked after and the food was delicious! Thank you so much for accommodating the two ladies who requested soup. They told me it was very tasty and enjoyable. Our District Chairman was very impressed and passes on her thanks to all the staff, as, indeed, do all our members. Jane Smith (Secretary Barrow Inner Wheel)
Gorgeous food, fantastic service and lovely atmosphere. Perfect Sunday lunch, thank you.
Myself and my wife often eat or drink in the DoE but yesterday was a bit of a get together of a group of us going to the football. Everyone was very impressed with the food (plenty of it and good quality) selection of beer was once again excellent. I think you were missing some staff yesterday but the ladies who looked after us were very polite and chatty considering they seemed run off their feet. A great pre-match get together in a very nice pub and surroundings.
The food was absolutely gorgeous!! My husband ordered steak and was cooked to perfection. 1 downfall however, the cocktails where not very good. The signature cocktails were bland and sickly and the old fashioned was not made with orange, instead a lemon, this was not great however we cannot fault the food.
lovely staff, great food. great atmosphere. great service.
Thank you for being so patient when things don't go to plan! We had a wonderful evening and the meal was delicious. Even though I pulled a face, I enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding! Jane Smith (Secretary Barrow Inner Wheel)
Lovely staff and a special mention to the lovely lady who appears to manage the dining area. Everytime we have been there she has been fab xx
A lovely Friday evening teatime treat for 8 adults and 4 children. Sat in the back room which was ideal for us as nice Ann's quiet plus we had a wheelchair user in our party. All meals were preordered and arrived within 10 minutes of us sitting down. Food was presented well and tasted delicious. Everyone raved about the fish n chips and I had the curried salmon which was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Everyone happy. Thank you Duke of Ed 👍
Fabulous service matched if not bettered by incredible food. Not so certain with groups of people congregating just behind us otherwise a full house of full marks
