About Duke of Edinburgh Hotel
Here at the Duke of Edinburgh, we offer delicious quality food, sourced from local suppliers, and created for you by our dedicated team of chefs. Our intimate Bistro restaurant seats twenty eight people and provides the perfect setting, seven days a week, for a relaxing meal with friends, family or colleagues. In addition we have our Vaults Restaurant, which can seat over fifty people and also offers an intimate cocktail bar.
Our Head Chef is Mr Andrew Webber, formerly from The Black Cock Inn at Broughton in Furness. Prior to his last four year role in Broughton, he enjoyed a fantastic career with some quality local establishments, including The Armadale and The Custom House. Andrew takes great personal care over every element of his menu, from the traditional, casual dining options through to the finely crafted options. Using the latest cooking equipment including Sous Vide, Rationale ovens and other modern methods, Andrew has combined traditional standards with modern techniques. This is not a microwave kitchen!
All our quality food is made from the best ingredients, sourced from local suppliers, and is lovingly created by our hard-working team of chefs. Much of our fish is caught locally by Morecambe Bay fishing vessels, our meat is selected from local butchers, vegetables arrive from a Lancashire based supplier and we try to bake much of our bread on site.
Out of our 2 choices of main meal, 1 meal came to us as expected, the other being served barely warm & was returned to the kitchen. When the meal was returned it was acceptable. This left us eating at seperate times. No compensation offered, just an apology.
We really enjoyed our food and drinks at the Duke. Great service, lots of choice. Food delicious and hot. Lovely wine.
Lovely meal as always. just a:shame there was only one person to do drinks and serve meals receptionist called on to help poor lad was doing his best manager of hotel needs to step up and help his staff
Felt safe having a family tea at The Duke. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was lovely.
With 2 of us vegans, and previously eaten here twice within the last year, a nice family meal out was chosen for Christmas eve. Upon arrival and finally being seated, it was extremely disappointing that there wasn't ANY vegan options, in fact the menu was very limited, after jokingly been told we go get a taxi home, the kitchen said they could try and cook us something up off the menu vegan style, only having 3 options for the main meal, then after ordering, finding our choice wasn't available, we had either a pizza or a chickpea burger offered, (neither was appealing, but settled for the burger) the 3rd member of the party, is allergic to chilli, we asked if this could be left out of his meal, no was the reply. Ended up with fish and chips, we could of used our local chippy for these 3 meals at a fraction of the price. Sadly a poor visit this time round, and saddened the evening after months of looking forward to a family night out.
Great food and service, thanks
As always, the staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful. It makes such a difference, especially at the moment.
My veggie food extremely tasty, Hubbie and son both loved their dishes. I wasn’t happy about tables being frequented by people who obviously weren’t from same household so won’t be going again which is a shame
Best roast dinner have had in a long time, staff great, great service. Thank you!
Absolutely fabulous service from start to finish from all staff at the Duke of Edinburgh. Professionalism as standard. Everything done to the highest standards regarding the covid guidelines. Toilets very clean, table service fab. A safe haven and a slice of normal in these strange times. Five stars
Had a really enjoyable afternoon. The food was excellent and the staff very polite and attentive. The measures put in place to keep us safe in current times, worked well with plenty of space between tables and a call button on each table too.
Lovely food great service
Had a lovely evening, the food was excellent and the service 1st class, the atmosphere was not as it would normally be because of the covid rules. Having said that we would still recommend eating in the Duke.
Excellent service, food and atmosphere staff are excellent
Excellent service and friendly staff
Food gorgeous as always and service attentive.
First time dining out since covid, the staff were fantastic all appropriate measures in place and polite and friendly. We enjoyed a three course meal and every dish was fantastic. Great value for money, would definitely recommend and would happily return. Thanks team!
Wouldn’t hesitate in going again
Thankyou for everything we felt so comfortable, food was amazing, service was brilliant definitely recommend. We’ve actually booked again for Xmas eve .Glad to see All COVID restrictions in place.Brilliant job well done.
I never normally leave feedback but felt obliged to after the FANTASTIC service we experienced yesterday. The waiter and bar staff were attentive, polite and the food was exceptional- as always. Nothing was too much trouble and we thoroughly enjoyed being out again in the current circumstances. We will certainly be back again soon! Mr and Mrs Kewley
Lovely meal. Fabulous service. Great quality food. Felt safe whilst adhering to covid rules. Highly recommend!
Excellent experience, great food, safe socially distanced atmosphere.
Delia & I keep coming back, not as much as in the past for obvious reasons. Howeve rthe Duke hasnt lost its ability to provide an excellent night out with great food, foreign beers & of course fantastic & attentive staff. Malcolm & Delia.
Took 15-20 minutes to get our bill after we asked the waitress. When it was finally provided to us, the waitress blamed another member of staff for it not being with us earlier. This really put a downer on our experience and left us feeling quite annoyed when we walked out. More staff were needed as there appeared to be just one waitress and one barman which was not sufficient to satisfy a full restaurant. Several customers having to wait unnecessarily. However, the food that we actually had was nice and well cooked. Just a shame about the service.
