About Don't Tell The Duke
Don’t Tell The Duke is a hub for the local community. Open from early morning we will be serving brunch such as our infamous runny wild boar scotch duck egg with crispy bacon on sourdough and tangy tomato relish (the earlybird really does catch the worm!) And, of course, everyone needs that grand cuppa coffee to kick them in to second gear first thing. We serve food from 11am right through until 9pm every day. So whether you are after light veggie options and just avoiding carbs for a few days, we have plenty to keep you occupied.
Our bar area has a capacity of 45 guests and is open until 12am at weekends where we will be offering interactive and quirky cocktails, 14 draft beers along with gin aplenty and 65 bottles of the ol’ plonk. There is also an in house DJ who plays 80s and D.I.S.C.O classics every Friday from 8:30-12:30am.
So we’d like to think we can offer something for everyone, we’ve even dropped some of our prices without compromising on quality but shhhhh...Don’t Tell The Duke.
Our Commercial ‘About Us’ Brief in a nutshell would be:- we are a unique day and night time haunt to service the locals of North Leeds with Innovative dishes and opulent cocktails- Wow, I pretty much sold my soul there.
Great tasting rare breed Yorkshire Beef done right!
This was our 2nd visit to this Restaurant and may I say it really has upped its game the service was probably the best I’ve received at any restaurant the food was superb and my wife said the cocktails were to die for, so thank you all at Don’t tell the Juke 10 out of 10 and we will definitely be returning again Thank you Steve & Jo.
Excellent food, great service.
Excellent food, staff and atmosphere.
As always, the staff at DTTD were welcoming friendly and knowledgeable but then that's not new they always go beyond . The food is always amazing! the Korean Beef is just wonderful. We ordered more plates of it to share. We had quite a large group and the team dealt with us wonderfully. The steaks were perfectly cooked, Chef knows how to treat a piece of beef. First time we've been there on a Monday night, and quiz night is fun! sorry some of our team got a bit noisy and excitable with the quiz. Bottom line DTTD.... Great food, great hospitality, Great atmosphere, Great place.
Friendly service, happy to recommend drinks and chat a bit. Food is always amazing and diverse.
Highly recommend the Sunday roast is amazing!!
Brilliant. Not knowing the area we were looking for somewhere to treat ourselves after a 100 mile bike ride from Penrith. Could not have found a better place. The food was superb and service excellent, and good interesting beers to cap it off.
nice Sunday lunch. great decor & surroundings
Loved it! We will return
Had a fantastic evening, amazing food and service and the cocktails are 👌
Fantastic service as always, the atmosphere is one of the main things that makes this place stand out from the rest as well as the food always being perfect! Loved this place for years, only ever have great things to say about it and will continue to keep visiting :)
We love this place we have been to many high end restaurants as we love a good steak :) ! Steak cooked to perfection and the peppercorn sauce wow ! The beef breadcrumb chilli chips -perfect . The staff are funny very friendly and welcoming I’m yet to find a restaurant that makes you feel more comfortable . Ten out of ten from us quirky and charismatic with food to die for .
A lovely relaxing lunch. Friendly staff were very welcoming and attentive. Will definitely return. It was a little quiet for a Friday lunchtime hence the missing star!
While the restaurant atmosphere was good, fairly cosy without being crowded, and cooky interior which was nice. I came with a group of friends 5 of us in total. We opted for sharing dishes. The food took over 45 minutes to come out (too long) and it was a little disappointing to be honest some dishes quite nice others pretty standard and I feel generally they were all overpriced. A couple of dishes were missed off our order which when pointed out was quickly rectified by our waiter. Our waiter tried really hard however I do feel he didn’t get the right balance between serving / checking we were ok and not interrupting us while we chatted. Not sure we will be coming back which is a shame.
Always perfect dining!
The steak was amazing but for the price I would expect the sides to be included or at least some sort of garnish not just steak on a plate
Love Don’t Tell The Duke - from the moment you walk in, the atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff who are so welcoming - and of course the food that is so amazing - all make for a great day/night out. Always guaranteed to please.
Overall we had a great experience. Excellent service with staff getting the right balance between attentiveness, professionalism mixed nicely with some "relaxed banter". My only critism would be the price point of the sides which in my opinion were a little steep. The chips with blue cheese and bacon and triple cooked chips seemed over priced at £5. The delivery of the bill in a scented up cigar box was a definite talking point maybe a bit pretentious. All this been said a very enjoyable evening. Thanks James
Had an absolutely fantastic meal for my friends birthday. The whole experience was amazing! Will definitely be back
We visited the restaurant a couple of years ago and wanted to take a friend for his birthday as we enjoyed it. We live in Wakefield, so I booked online. When we arrived we were told there was no food available and the booking was made in error. Given our journey we were obviously very disappointed. The guy behind the bar did offer us a drink, however we were all hungry and just wanted to find somewhere else to eat. It was a very poor experience given how much we’d enjoyed it a couple of years ago.
Went here for Sunday lunch. Very good food, though did not have a selection of local beers as indicated. Prices advertised on website not correct too. Also booking online for "our low tables", we could not determine the meaning of this as photos did not show seating areas. David, June 2019
Lovely meal. The food was outstanding and the service was great alongside
Just felt like being busy was a hindrance for the restaurant - a few dishes were sold out, service wasn’t on point (we had to ask twice for a wine menu) and we overheard other customers complaining. That said, the food was of a high standard and very enjoyable. Not sure the ‘sharing’ leeks plate was enough for 2, but tasty nonetheless.
We have recently move to the area and the Duke has quickly become our local. There is a lovely atmosphere and all the staff are very friendly and welcoming. It is now our go to place for drinks or food when friends visit, or for a quick coffee stop after shopping. Would certainly recommend a visit.
Arrived to be told that we had to order from a 3 course set menu. Why was we not told this on booking? Some food was ok, some we had to send back. Ordered white wine, was brought red wine. Advertised free daiquiri for checking in on facebook - our party of 4 all checked in and received 1 drink between us. Definitely not as portrayed online and on facebook! Disappointed.
