About Don't Tell The Duke
Don’t Tell The Duke is a hub for the local community. Open from early morning we will be serving brunch such as our infamous runny wild boar scotch duck egg with crispy bacon on sourdough and tangy tomato relish (the earlybird really does catch the worm!) And, of course, everyone needs that grand cuppa coffee to kick them in to second gear first thing. We serve food from 10am right through until 9pm every day. So whether you are after light veggie options and just avoiding carbs for a few days, we have plenty to keep you occupied.
Our bar area has a capacity of 45 guests and is open until 12am at weekends where we will be offering interactive and quirky cocktails, 14 draft beers along with gin aplenty and 65 bottles of the ol’ plonk. There is also an in house DJ who plays 80s and D.I.S.C.O classics every Friday from 8:30-12:30am.
Our a la carte restaurant will still be serving those mouthwatering steaks and our Infidelity at the Butchery sharer- I mean what blasphemy for even considering to remove such a godly gift from our menu.
So we’d like to think we can offer something for everyone, we’ve even dropped some of our prices without compromising on quality but shhhhh...Don’t Tell The Duke.
Our Commercial ‘About Us’ Brief in a nutshell would be:- we are a unique day and night time haunt to service the locals of North Leeds with Innovative dishes and opulent cocktails- Wow, I pretty much sold my soul there.
Great tasting rare breed Yorkshire Beef done right!
Second time we have been here and again didn’t disappoint. Amazing food, best burger I’ve ever tasted!! Good atmosphere with music in the background. Nice to have staff that seem easy going and fun! Very nice decor and quirky. Staff 100% know what they are talking about and seem so passionate about the food and drink. Menu has a good selection of food and something for everyone. Slightly on the pricier side but definitely worth it for the quality of food you are served. Will definitely be coming back again for a third time!
The food was lovely as usual, it was explained to us that the ‘spring veg’ side dish wasn’t actually spring veg but roasted beets and celeriac which was fine, but it would be nice to have seasonal spring veg, as the root veg seems more of a winter dish, and when I came in February ( which was winter ) I had a lovely side of greens!
Would highly recommend Don’t Tell The Duke. Lovely food, service and atmosphere
I think I’ve written about three reviews of resteraunts and hotels etc in my 24 years but this definitely warranted a review.. and not for anything good. We booked a table about a week in advance so we could go for Sunday dinner and try one of the Sunday dinner sharing boards. It’s not made clear that you should pre order the boards as they may run out. We had our table booked for 4pm for 4 people and made it clear on the notes of the booking that we would also have 2 prams with us. We arrived to be told they’re struggling for space and we were seated on a high table right near the bar as this was the only table with room for two prams. Already off to a bad start. The waitress went through the menu as it was our first time eating here, which was nice. We were told there were no Sunday sharing boards (which is why we had driven 25 minutes to eat here) but that we could have normal Sunday dinner. So we all ordered a Sunday dinner.. a few minutes later the waitress came back to tell us that they had ran out of dinners. So we looked through the menu and all decided on burgers. The burgers came quite swiftly but were very under cooked. My other half enjoys his steak and burgers pink and also with abit of blood but he couldn’t even eat the burger it was that undercooked. We were told this is how they serve the burgers due to the meat they use but all 4 of us asked for the burger more well done. They came back after about 25 minutes with four more burgers still quite pink in some areas. Neither of us finished our meals, I ate round the pink. all four of us felt past it as we had waited that long and was ready to head home. We were offered free deserts but none of us were hungry. We weren’t happy to pay for our mains to due the above and spoke with the manager.. he again offered us desserts or drinks or wine for free which we refused and asked for the mains to be taken off the bill.. to which the manager replied “fine I’ll just take them off” while screwing the receipt up in front of us. Shocking. Put it this way, we definitely won’t be returning to try the Sunday dinner.
A lovely brunch venue!
Fabulous place to eat. Our children were a bit naughty the day we went to eat and staff helped out lots to try calm them. The food is next level good. Its really amazing. Outstanding service and amazing food. Were booking to go back without the naughty children next time 😉
Can’t fault this quirky little joint. It’s the second time we’ve been in as we come up to The Weth every so often to visit my in-laws and each time has been brilliant. This was the first time we’ve eaten and the food was delicious and extremely good value for money. The staff know what they’re doing, are very welcoming, friendly and attentive. The bartenders also know what they’re doing and we are a tough audience when it comes to drinks. I’m a bar and restaurant consultant, specialising in cocktails and these guys are good. Excellent drinks, made with care. Genuinely can’t recommend this place enough. Far and away the best offering in town.
Well, the staff were lovely but we had to wait about 15 minutes before we got a drink, and it was ages after that we ordered so we must have been in there an hour before we actually got food. It was very disjointed. The food was good when it finally arrived!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner to celebrate a birthday.
Amazing meal. - Was struggling to fit us in, as it was mothers day, but a gentlemen named Michael assured us on the phone that they would be able to seat us somewhere. The hospitality was brilliant and the food amazing. I actually came to your restaurant about 3 years ago, when it was named ‘Sir Jukes’ and I am delighted to say the food is EVEN better today. Wonderful afternoon, made even better by Jack, our waiter who was friendly and efficient throughout. Food to die for, great service, definitely will be recommending and coming again. Thanks.
Arrived just after opening time so the place was quiet but still a good ambience. Service was great, no pancakes available so had eggs with caramelised onions and roasted tomatoes on sourdough, it was fantastic, really tasty, my husband had the smoked salmon on avocado with gherkins and poached eggs and he said it was great. Would definitely return when we return to Wetherby.
Really enjoyed our meal, great service, good atmosphere however the 10%service charge is a bit steep (£21 ) though.
Service at the bar was slow when we arrived. The food service was also slow even though we pre-ordered. This is the only negative feedback I’d give, the food was spot on and absolutely loved the place. Would recommend and would re-visit.
Love everything about Don't tell the Duke! Everything is 10 out of 10 love it keep it up guys
The perfect place to meet up for a special lunch that was not too far from the A1for guests who had travelled some distance. It would have been even better if there was a customer carpark!
Lovely place, and great food. Would definitely come again!
I visit this restaurant whenever I am in the area. You can't fault the staff, whether it's over the phone or face to face, they are very friendly, welcoming, and make the experience personal. There is brilliant food and knowledgable staff with great advise on the food and drinks. Cannot fault this place. Will certainly be back!!
Really great food! Really friendly service. and the room has a really nice atmosphere even when it's quiet. I had the catch of the day and it was delicious. Perfectly prepared.
Sunday lunch was faultless - really well cooked beef and gorgeous Yorkshire Puddings. Dessert menu not extensive but that's probably a good thing!
Always great food, first time we've been since Sir Duke's (not local) and the layout was definitely more relaxed, more of a social place with great food and a bar than a formal restaurant.
Great food great service. Friendly helpful staff. Would definitely recommend. Thanks
Great service slightly disappointed in the beetroot starter very overpriced for what got but was tasty bit that for
