About The Dolphin Inn
We are a small family owned and family operated business, we are proud members of our community and concerned citizens of our environment. Our shared values and principles are central to our business and our values often go deeper than simply benefitting the family, but also the wider community in which we operate including projects supporting charities that fit our personal mission.
Our butcher in Aldeburgh ensures that all of our meat is not only sourced as locally as possible but also of the best quality. Our fish comes directly from the markets in Lowestoft sourced only from sustainable stocks. Our bread is from the famous Pump Street bakery in Orford and delivered fresh on a daily basis.
Our greengrocer in Leiston is able to offer some top locally grown produce whilst during the warmer months we have daily deliveries of fruit and veg that has been cut just minutes before it arrives from the local allotment just a stones throw away. Even the milk we use is from a local dairy.
It doesn’t stop with food - our offering on the bar also boasts some great local names. Aspall not only makes the vinegar you put on your chips but is much better known for its award winning cider. You can’t come to Suffolk and not have a pint of Adnams, from Southwold just up the coast.
I always enjoy a visit to The Dolphin. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is great. I always book when I am visiting the area.
Excellent food and service, will definitely return!
We came to celebrate my daughters birthday. A party of 5, 2 of which opted for the roast beef. How a chef can send out Yorkshire puddings that we’re so burnt they were black, I have no idea. The vegetables served on the plates were so few we were expecting a bowl of additional vegetables to arrive, which didn’t come. I didn’t complain at the time as I didn’t want to spoil the day, but safe to say we left thoroughly disappointed. I must add though that we have previously eaten at your sister pub, The Parrot and really enjoyed the food and experience.
Fab food, fab service, amazed that after a gap of a few weeks staff remembered our drinks order! Definitely one of our favourites 😀
Delicious, good value Vegan Thursday.
We ate quite early which meant there weren’t many diners so the atmosphere was rather subdued. That said, importantly for us, our two dogs were welcomed with treats and every care given to us and them. The food was good as well so we would definitely recommend.
A great experience from walking through the door with exceptional food and service. We'll definitely be coming back soon. Well done.
Maybe it was because it was a busy night but we dealt with several different members of staff instead of just one person, which meant we had to keep asking different people for things. We weren't asked if we wanted another drink when 2 of our glasses were empty when our food was delivered, I had to get the drinks myself and then we weren't asked if we wanted a desert menu nice again I had to ask for a menu myself. The service really let the place down to be very honest.
good pub food no better or worse than other local friendly staff
The service was poor we were ignored when we arrived and when we left and we waited longer than expected for our order to be taken. When you're charging restaurant prices I expect restaurant service
Very enjoyable, food mostly good and well cooked
Waited 30 minutes for desert. One main meal had no chips on, had to ask for them. Burgers were over cooked. Very noisy in the conservatory. Man who brought drinks over very miserable. Roast
My partner and I booked out of the blue were from out of town found the dolphin to be very friendly was dog friendly family oriented staff were quite helpful although quite inexperienced they served my partner with tea and we us to ask for a spoon and sugar but food was good hot and service was pretty quick I would recommend it
On a busy bank holiday really excellent .....staff under a lot of pressure but normal calm and collected service. Your best coastal pub award is well deserved...!
Disappointed with visit. Staff not very friendly especially lady who served us in Jeans which was not a good look. Food ok but desert was inedible. Won’t be coming back.
Great food and service especially considering how busy this place is. This is our second year of visiting The Dolphin & we will definitely be returning for a third!
Staff very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly. My daughter has coeliac's and the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful in discussing the menu and offering alternatives. Top marks.
Delicious meal and so nice to have gluten-free choices.
Very good meal and good friendly service. Good knowledge of dietary requirements so able to advise and adapt adapt menu to accommodate these. Dining room rather noisy so difficult to have a conversation across the table..
Good food in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Excellent service.
Friendly staff and quick service
Usually love this pub, we booked a special family celebration for Sunday 11th 2 weeks before but were given a table which was really for 4 people and we had 6, it was a little cramped and right by the very busy bar and toilets. Usually we have the garden room. We were not able to have table service and the usual sunday menu has disappeared and as a vegan eater was very disappointed. A waitress was asked if they had a veg roast and she said there was only beef this was atb12.30 so hardly late. When we queried atbghe kit hen they were able to do a nut roast sonthe waitress had no idea. Very disappointed this time dont think we will be back soon. Shame.
Helpful and friendly staff. Spacious dining area. Good range of food choices. Food was ready quickly and tasted very fresh.
