About Dog in A Doublet
Smoke and Embers at Dog in a Doublet is a gastro pub with a difference. The emphasis is on the food, using ingredients from its garden and meats from its own farm the open kitchen combines modern techniques with ancients cooking methods. Many of the dishes are created using a wood and charcoal fire pit which along with marinading, brining and smoking which delivers plates of bold flavours and unparalleled quality. Expect your favorite dishes with unique twists with an ethos towards the embracement of Britain's diverse cultural food culture. Served in a friendly and extremely relaxed environment by people with a passion for food, drink and social dinning. There's something for everyone from quick bar snacks to 9 course tasting experiences. The building has and is being reborn from being derelict a few years ago to the eclectic social experience it is now. You can buy the home grown and smoked produce in its deli and stay in one of its dozen rooms and glamping options as well, where you can look over the vast fenland landscapes and see the land and farm that has created your meals.
We were the first to try the brand new post lockdown deli lunch menu. All the food choices were very well thought out, good portions but most of all... super tasty. In particular the Lobster roll was the best we’ve ever had! It stands up next to some of the best restaurants here and abroad. The service was good and again very thoughtful, the chef and staff were obviously invested in making the food (and dining experience in general) as good as it could possibly be. Can’t wait to get back and try the evening menu!
We waited along time for our starters and then as we was eating them our mains turned up as well, even though we asked to finish our starters before getting our main meals. This was a little annoying but the food tasted amazing and the gentleman serving us was really nice.
As always, good, food, good service so glad it's reopened
Thanks for a wonderful Sunday Lunch in such difficult times. The staff were wonderful. The only point I will suggest making in line with the new changes is to ask each person if there is anything they don’t want or perhaps serve the veg etc. In dishes for the table to choose for themselves and the waitresses bring the plates just with the meat etc. on. Thanks again
Enjoyed an evening at Dog in a Doublet for their re opening on Saturday. Under testing conditions the chef and his team provided great food and service. Love how they always take time for a chat about the evenings food
Fantastic food, delicious wine and staff that couldn't do enough for us. Food is obviously made with love and passion with high quality ingredients. I just wish I could eat here every day.
