Box on the Docks by the Dockyard in collaboration with MediaCityUK offers a socially distanced dining experience combining good food and drink with art. Deluxe sheds and greenhouses bookable for between 2 and 8 people to enjoy an evening in the beautiful setting of MediaCityUK in the heart of Salford Quays.
We didn’t experience box on the docks. We arrived to find out that it was shut despite having booked 4 weeks in advance. No one called to let us know and when we went into the Dockyard, a team member advised that they hadn’t been operational for a few weeks. When we asked to go inside, they had no room and offered us a seat in the rain. So disappointing.
The private boxes are great, food and beer is always great.
Friendly staff. Novel to be in one of the boxes!
We were greeted by pretty rude hostess , who kept telling us to scan the track and trace, minimal Patience as my phone was not loading the app quickly enough. We were then told to wait , and shown to our box. No instructions on how to order or what to do. The food arrived tepid , not hot and not cold. Neither of us enjoyed it the cold food Much. No one came yo check in with us or anything We ate small amount and left extremely disappointed buying s Sandwich from Pret instead
Poor all round
I thought you guys were brilliant! Service was especially good in our Box! Thanks guys! Mark
Ate in Box in the Docks. It made for a great change of environment and I'd recommend it.
We had not been out for months due to a couple of us being vulnerable. We went in our family bubble. Had a fabulous night. Food and service were great. Addition of the Bluetooth speaker made our night. Will def be back.
We booked a box on the dock through The Dockyard. Amazing atmosphere, really quirky way to enjoy some good quality food and drink!
Loved the greenhouse, atmosphere was great and everyone was distancing ... shame everything outside closed so early ... food was lovely and 30% off ! 😁😁 Will definitely book again and the staff at the outside bar were fantastic and very welcoming. Fab night !!
Chilled out relaxed and socially distanced have already booked my next visit
Given the circumstances, the Box on the Docks is a great and novel idea. Really enjoyed it.
Can't fault anything about this place. Staff were great and so helpful. My friend and I were there for 3 hours having food and a few drinks and we felt safe yet totally relaxed.
Fab concept, perfect for social distancing
The box was great and had everything we needed. Only downside is that there were no vegetarian meals left at 6pm which made it quite difficult to order food
The greenhouses are a brilliant idea! Really enjoyed it. Didnt have to leave, just order everything on the app and it gets brought to you.
Not a problem & often drink indoors but booked a ‘greenhouse’ & they are awful too hot too cold and no atmosphere even with your friends. Keep ya pub & loose them.
Young lads on the bar were not attentive and left me waiting until their conversation had finished before serving me. They seemed hungover and disinterested in being there. Despite me requesting vegan options when booking, the menu we had access to on the day had no vegan dishes on it. We were then told something along the lines of the kitchen frier being broken which was why they had a limited menu. So, we ended up eating at Wagamama, which was a shame as we were enjoying our drinks on the deckchairs beforehand and we had travelled from Stockport especially. In the end, we could have gone to many other great places in the city centre instead. Additionally, the plants in the greenhouses were all dead or dying. Clearly no attention to detail has been made to maintain the aesthetics. Such a shame. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing experience.
Unable to order tap water on menu/app Had to order a pint of Diet Coke instead of a glass no option on app Starters came out with mains altogether? Service great, staff friendly, great atmosphere Fab idea
Box on the docks was amazing - enabled us to have a meal out in our bubble socially distanced from others. Will definitely be returning again. Easy to order food through the website too.
Although the menu was quite limited the food, in the main was lovely (although the hummus was too lemony for my taste) and the portion sizes were good. The dining experience was very enjoyable and we were very cosy in the greenhouse with a good view of the gardens. An added bonus was the excellent entertainment from Mr Wilsons Second Liners.
Great experience at Box on the Docks with the only issue that waiting staff were not wearing face masks when bringing out food and drink and came partway into the Box to place the order down. At this point in the pandemic, it is clear that masks significantly help reduce transmission and so staff should wear them. One of our party was shielding until recently, and apart from the lack of masks this was an excellent venue choice and a good time was had by all.
Very average food and service
