About Cyprus Avenue
Cyprus Avenue is a licenced neighbourhood eatery based on the edge of Ballyhackamore, East Belfast. The restaurant which was previously a derelict building was opened on the 30th of December 2016 by Richard McCracken, his first restaurant after returning from years away working in Michelin starred kitchens. Portraits of the local suppliers hang on the walls of the restaurant to ‘put a face to the names’ that are scattered on the menu. The menu is made up of locally sourced produce, using the finest suppliers. Cyprus Avenue has 60,000 bees located on its roof providing urban honey for use on its daily changing seasonal menu. In November 2018 the restaurant was extended due to growing business by knocking through into the corner site at the North Road crossroads. The renovations provided a more spacious dining room and during the works an 80 year old terrazzo floor was discovered and reconditioned to add to the ‘urban chic’ feel of the restaurant.
Food was the best meal we had in a long time. Was so nice we went again the following morning for breakfast which again was great. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back!
You won’t find a better restaurant in Belfast. Food is spectacular, very reasonably priced and service has never been less than tremendous.
First time visiting the restaurant and was very impressed indeed. Richard has done a fantastic job. Very tasty food, lovely presentation and a rich and varied menu of local produce with an international flavour. Well looked after throughout the meal too. Will be recommending to friends and family. See you again soon.
I absolutely loved this restaurant. Food and service were second to none. I will definitely be back
There were 3 of us...2 meals arrived at least 7 mins before 3rd meal. I had to get up and remind staff that we still had a 3rd meal to come. As a result our meals were lukewarm when we finally got to eat. This was disappointing. The creme brulee was very solid consistency. .I would not recommend it. The magdalena dessert was delicious
A first time visit - very pleased with the service and delighted with the menu choices. Sara was extremely helpful, very pleasant and attentive, Parking is an issue but one that can't be helped !
Food was great, service was so slow it was non existent. I had to ask for a menu, and then ask to order and finally had to go to the bar and ask again for our drinks, which finally arrived after our starter, which arrived 50mins after we were initially seated. As stated, food couldn’t be faulted, it was delicious and it’s a lovely modern, bright restaurant. But the service really let it down, and that was disappointing.
Service was really poor! Had been so excited to try and was really disappointed! Had to ask to get menus after waiting over 15 minutes! On receiving menus and waiting while people in after us were served we then had to signal someone’s attention to take our order! The food came quickly! My mum had the eggs and salmon which was lovely although not how menu describes, sister had French toast which was also nice! I had the fry which was really poor- it tasted as if the sausage and bacon had been reheated and didn’t taste fresh! Whilst others cleared their plates I left most of mine! Nobody seemed to notice! I then had to go and ask for the bill as nobody came near us! Restaurant was not at full capacity so unsure how service could have been so poor! Really disappointed with my meal and disgusted at service! Would love to try evening menu but based on this experience I wouldn’t
Had a wonderful evening. Will definitely be back.
The staff were lovely but sorry to say the food was disappointing :-(
Lovel food. Excellent service - when my son wanted something from a previous kids’ menu you suggested it would be no problem. He loved it. Thank you.
Recommended by our son and the Sunday brunch did not disappoint. A great mix of ages so a really great atmosphere.
Excellent restaurant in a great location.
Lovely food, had to ask about specials
Food was amazing and the service was great will definitely be back
Good location ; great food .
Well done team Cyprus Avenue!! The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere and we had a lovely Mother's Day menu meal for 7 people on Sunday. Just missed some of your lovely bread at the start, but I think we were just being greedy as the special 'Mother's Day' menu was more than enough lol and great value for the variety of flavours and mix on the menu. Many thanks to all for a super evening.
Dreadful unprofessional service , food was mediocre at best, tasteless and tepid .definitely won’t return , staff-training badly needed was given a fork to eat a cheese board ?!? Very disappointing.
Wonderful Mother’s Day meal.
Was there for a Birthday event and from the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed. It was lovely to sit by the bar and enjoy some cocktails before being seated at our table. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and the food is superb. Well worht a visit.
Very Clean,Very Quick excellent standard of produce but I still think it's a little dear for what you get. I think a better range of food for celiac's even though they adapted menu for myself I'd like to see more. Lovely approachable staff and chefs can tell are very talented! Ambiance is very nice and dimmed lights are perfect for a romantic meal for two! I'd certainly go again.
Waited 45 minutes for our food. When we asked if it was coming the waitress checked and told us the docket had got lost and or order hadn’t been out through. Had to reorder our food. No one from management came to apologise. When we finished our meal our plates weren’t cleared and we had to go looking for a member of staff to ask for our bill. Still no apology for the poor service. Food was fine but not good enough to make up for a terrible experience. Won’t be back.
I made a booking for 5 and yet I got a table for 4 so we were not very comfortable. Since it was a table for 4 I have to ask for a knife and fork about 3 times. My wife got the French toast they were not that taisty and we ask for some maple syrup and there was none. And I am sure it was just bad timing but the view out the window wasn't great either, a dirty van and construction work.
We live locally and brought friends from London for lunch on Saturday. Your refurbished restaurant is lovely, your food is good - but sorry to say your staff and service is terrible. We pratically had to serve ourselves! Nice bottle of white wine - served warm with a couple of ice cubes is just one example. I have heard reports of bad service from friends and neighbors - we are frequent customers of il pirata and graze and you certainly haven’t stole their business!
Great meal ! Specials on boards difficult to see - staff very enthusiastic however no knowledge of how or what way food cooked - my pasta was claggy and didn’t suit the Hake dish - hake cooked to perfection! Overall a good but not entice me back experience plenty of choice of eateries in the Hack
