About Curry Leaf Cafe – Brighton Lanes

★ CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT 23 APRIL - 2 MAY ★
The original Curry Leaf Cafe is located in the heart of Brighton's bustling Lanes, just a couple of minutes' walk from the beach. Its colourful, laid-back 75-seat dining space – decked out with exposed brick walls, wooden tables and vintage Indian design touches – operates as a cafe-cum-lunch spot during the day, offering a range of coffees, teas, snacks and traditional South Indian street food, as well as more substantial meals such as thali platters & dosai. In the evenings diners can experience the cafe’s small but diverse dinner menu of tandoor-grilled meats, street food dishes and expertly spiced curries, accompanied by Brighton's best range of craft beers and spiced cocktails. All ingredients are sourced locally where possible, and around half of the menu is vegan. A wide selection of gluten-free dishes is also on offer throughout the day.

Authentic Indian street food in the heart of Brighton
9/10
The Curry Leaf Cafe hasn't been in Brighton long, but you'd never guess it considering the amount of press and foodie fever surrounding the restaurant, which is nestled in the Lanes - just a short hop from the seafront. I have the pleasure of meeting up with an old friend, Chris and after a couple of beers in town we head to grab some food. Chris is a massive fan of Indian food and I am really excited to be taking him to the Curry Leaf Cafe as I know it's an experience he won't have had in his usual curry house... Every nibble of our starter is moreish and quickly devoured and I almost wish we had ordered a platter each. Chris is already raving about the restaurant, and he is right to, it really is the perfect place to hang out and enjoy a great beer, amazing food and feel relaxed, a hard thing for a restaurant to achieve but yet the Curry Leaf have got it spot on.
