About Cucina 1884
Contemporary, counter concept Italian restaurant. We serve authentic Italian food, small plate style, Wood Fired Pizzas.
Very cold atmosphere, not great customer service. Very expensive for what you get.
Very stylish. Excellent service from all staff. Quality food. Different from the usual Italian restaurant in a good way. The Italian "tapas" is a fun idea and could be developed further.
Food ok, some dishes very nice, some not so. Service generally very good although a fork was forgotten and slightly rushed at the end of the meal when suddenly informed our table was required for the next diners. Pricing a tad expensive - a panna cotta puchased at £9, nice but not worth that amount. Nice surroundings and ambience.
Excellent food at a decent price in a very smart setting, very attentive staff offering helpful tips for us newbies to cucina, will definitely be calling again, well worth the healthy tip we left, thanks for a lovely evening
Although we were looking forward to trying the restaurant we were completely let down, even though we arrived early the service we received was poor to say the least, the excuse given was lack of staff. (not my problem), considering the restaurant was empty when we arrived, yet guests arriving after us received better service, the food is expensive for what you receive and the tiramisu tasted like a cheap frozen variety, watery at the bottom and no presentation what so ever just a block on a plate! All in all we wished we had booked the Greek restaurant across the road.
Excellent food and service
Interesting menu providing a variety of dishes and tastes that you don't usually see at an Italian restaurant. Quality is always preferable to quantity but we still felt it was a little on the pricey side.
Perfect. Again. Thank you!
Will definitely become a regular
Food just ok. We tried few dishes and it was just ok. Thought it would be better. It was cold there and no atmosphere. Service was ok.
Can’t fault the food. Only us in the restaurant due to the time we booked but I’m sure the atmosphere is good when there are more people in. Bit disappointed that the 3 tables that was offered to us did not include the one in the window but then 2 people who came in off the street were offered this table? Also my girlfriend had ate a third of her pizza before any other food was brought to the table. I’m sure we will eat in the restaurant again though
Great place, too many seafood dishes so choice was limited.
We have all eaten at 1884 on the marina and we were disappointed with this restaurants quality of food and value for money. The portion sizes were on the small size and very average. The staff were friendly but we will not be returning anytime soon.
Great place service and place ace only moan was portions far too small for 2 people ,we had 5 tapas but still felt hungry and needed more food .other than this everything else was 1st class
Delicious authentic Italian food. Can’t wait to return thanks.
Beautiful Restaurent, very friendly accommodating staff. Lovely atmosphere.
It was very cold sitting beside the window. This was my only concern.
A bit pricey but an excellent evening was had by all
Great concept Very enjoyable
Really enjoyed our lunch, staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was amazing, will definitely by back to try some more delicious dishes.
unfortunately we were very disappointed with our visit. The service was very poor. We were left for at least 30minutes on arrival and eventually had to ask for a drink. The waitress brought the water we asked for but forgot the wine and we had to chase it up. We again had to ask for our food order to be taken after waiting another 30 minutes. The food was very mediocre we had seafood stew and it just felt like a bowl of fish shell with nothing else with it. Very disappointing.
The food was fantastic and very flavoursome, if you are a lover of Italian food then this place is a must. The service wasn’t however without its faults, but I would like to think these small issues were merely teething problems and hopefully when I return the services will be much smoother. I feel it would have be better to be offered a seating preference, when I arrived we I had pre booked a table and was expecting a table, so when I was seated at the bar facing the kitchen this wasn’t what I was expecting. Now this doesn’t mean that some people or even myself in a different circumstance wouldn’t like to sit facing the kitchen, I feel if both the bar and tables are available it would be good practice to ask the diner what they would prefer. The cocktails are rather on the small side, although delicious my Whiskey Sour felt like it may have been served in a children’s glass and for what it cost I was disappointed in that. The front of house gentleman was excellent and brought a feel of class and fine dining to the occasion and the waitresses were all lovely polite and professional. The experience for me was great and as I have said previously I can’t wait to return.
Excellent first visit. Great quality and presentation of every dish, with great service. We will definitely visit again.
A different experience we quite liked. I think it is all shoehorned into a building that is a little too small. I hope it is a success we will plan on going again already booked for Christmas eve!!! 44 covers and 5 chefs. Please don't put the prices too high.
